After a while, Jenny decided to open up to Mr. Lucas about it.
He sat on the couch in her room, opposite her bed. Legs crossed and eyes on her, he waited patiently for her to talk.
She collapsed on the bed, exhaled slowly and sat up, looking him straight in the eye.
Jenny: Fine, I'll tell you.
Mr. Lucas: You have my complete attention.
Jenny: Just don't tell anyone, okay? It's really personal.
Mr. Lucas: Do I ever tell anyone about our sessions or conversations?
Jenny: I know you don't. But it's just... so hard to tell anyone (She said, her voice dropping low).
Mr. Lucas: Jenny, you can trust me. I'm your therapist for God's sake.
Jenny: Okay. (Sighs deeply) Yesterday, I came out to my mom about my recent masturbations...
Mr. Lucas:(Amazed) Really?
Jenny: Yeah.
Mr. Lucas: That's good to hear. Did she take it likely with you?
Jenny: Yeah, she did. She completely understood my situation.
Mr. Lucas: That's amazing. I knew she wouldn't over react, you just had to tell her.
Jenny: Yeah, you're right.
She then exhaled.
Mr. Lucas: And...?
Jenny: What?
Mr. Lucas: Come on, Jenny. Something else must have happened. We both know something happened.
Jenny: Nothing happened.
Mr. Lucas: But you locked yourself in your room and you still say nothing happened?
Jenny: It- It's nothing (She stuttered).
Mr. Lucas: No, it's something. And I'd like to hear it.
Jenny paused for a while, still not sure if she could say or speak about what happened yesterday.
Mr. Lucas: It's okay. You can let it out. Tell me about it.
She inhaled and exhaled sharply.
Jenny: As I went to the supermarket around the neighborhood, I ran into some old friends.
Mr. Lucas: Old friends?
Jenny: Yeah, I met some friends back at my school.
Mr. Lucas: You met them where?
Jenny: Around the neighborhood, close to the supermarket.
Mr. Lucas: Aren't they supposed to be at school?
Jenny: Yeah, I thought about that too and asked them but they changed the topic and talked about Anna.
Mr. Lucas: Why?
Jenny: What do you mean 'why'?
Mr. Lucas: Why are you lying to me? Those people surely can't be your old friends cause if they were, they'd have totally ignored you. But they approached you, talked to you and you came back feeling bad. Those people aren't your friends, right?
Jenny:(Silent).
Mr. Lucas: Are they your friends, Jenny?
Jenny: N- no (She stuttered).
Mr. Lucas: Then who are they? And don't you think of lying to me.
Jenny: T- they're bullies... From my old school (She shivered).
Mr. Lucas: Did they bully you? Or talk to you rudely? Or harass you? Did they touch you? Did they beat you up?
Tears were already rolling down her cheeks as memories from yesterday came to her head
Jenny:(Crying) Yes.
Mr. Lucas stared blankly at her for a while, before he asked...
Mr. Lucas: Which did they do?
Jenny: All. And more.
Mr. Lucas: Shit (He cursed under his breath). Jenny can you take off your hoodie?
Jenny did as Mr. Lucas said, and when she took it off, there were scars, marks and injuries all over her body.
Mr. Lucas: God! Those people are monsters.
He had already stood up from the couch, staring in horror at her body as she kept crying.
He then paused and looked at her, his eyes filled with concern.
Mr. Lucas: Did they touch you... inappropriately? Did they rape you?
Jenny: They did.
Mr. Lucas: God no. We have to tell your parents.
Jenny: No.
Mr. Lucas: I know you don't want to tell them, but this is really serious, Jenny. We don't only have to tell your parents, but the cops too.
Jenny: The cops?
Mr. Lucas: Yes, Jenny. You deserve justice. And those boys deserve to be locked up. What they did to you is a crime and they deserve to be punished.
Jenny: But I need time (She said softly).
Mr. Lucas:(Confused) Time for what?
Her voice dropped lower.
Jenny: To heal.
He laughed at her, but not in a mocking way. But she felt embarrassed when he laughed.
Mr. Lucas: Trust me, you'll be more than healed when you see them get punished.
He got up.
Mr. Lucas: Come on (He said reaching for the door).
Jenny: What?
Mr. Lucas: You have to tell your parents.
Jenny: Wait, now? Why?
Mr. Lucas: Cause this is very serious, Jenny. We need to file a complaint to the police immediately.
Jenny couldn't believe what she had heard.
Jenny: We're opening a case?
Mr. Lucas: Yes, Jenny. Come on, let's go (He opened the door).
Jenny came out of her room and he came behind her.
Mr. Lucas: Why are you acting so surprised? Didn't you know that this incident involves the police?
Jenny: I knew, but I kinda forgot for a second. And I'm not surprised, I'm just excited.
Mr. Lucas: Wow. So I'll leave the rest to you.
They both came down from the stairs and met Jake in the sitting room. And he was thrilled to see Jenny.
Jake: Jenny!
He ran to hug her. After he hugged her, he looked her from head to toe.
Jake: What happened to your body? (He said concern in his eyes).
He then gave Mr. Lucas a confused glare. For a second he thought it was something that had to do with Mr. Lucas, but then he snapped out of it.
Jenny: Where's mom?
Jake: She's in the bedroom, getting some rest (He said, his attention returning to her).
Jenny: Please can you get her?
Jake: Sure.
He then looked at Mr. Lucas again before climbing the stares but Mr. Lucas just had a blank expression on his face.
He returned with Jasmine. And when she saw Jenny, she ran to hug her.
Jasmine: Jenny! (She hugged her).
Jenny: Mom!
After a while, Jasmine pulled away and looked her up and down.
Jasmine:(Concerned) What happened to you? What are all these scars on your body?
Jenny: About that... (Sighs). You and dad should take a seat.
Jasmine and Jake sat on the couch, their attention on Jenny.
Jasmine: What's the matter honey?
Jenny completely ignored her mother's question and looked at Mr. Lucas who was sitting beside her parents on another couch.
Mr. Lucas: Go on (He said softly and gave her a reassuring smile).
Jenny: I... As I was returning from the store yesterday, I ran into some guys.
Jasmine: Guys? You mean those jerks that were on the sidewalk?
Jake: Which guys? (He asked, turning to Jasmine).
Jenny: Yes.
Jasmine: Did they follow you?
Jenny: Yes, mom. They followed me.
Jake:(Completely lost) I don't understand. Which guys?
Jenny: Not also did they stalk me but they forcefully collected my package away from me. Took me to an unknown place without my consent then insulted me, harassed me, assaulted me and... raped me.
Tears were already falling down her eyes.
Jasmine: Oh My Goodness!!
Jenny: And they beat me up. After they were... done with me, it was already midnight and they threw me out. They threw me naked... into the streets. And I had to find my way back here.
By the time Jenny was done narrating her experience with Ryan, Cody, Bryce and, Jasmine was already in tears.
Jake: We need to file a case! (He said as he banged the table with his fist, his voice hoarse with anger).
Mr. Lucas: That's what I also told her. Can you tell us more about these guys that did all these to you?
Jenny: The ringleader is Ryan. The one who does the dirty work is Cody. The one who gets the camera is Tyler. And the one who attacks is Bryce.
Mr. Lucas: Can you describe these boys for us?
Jenny: Yes, I can. Ryan is the tallest amongst them. Cody is black. Bryce is muscular. And Tyler pierced both of his ears.
Jasmine: Yes, they're the ones. She saying the truth, I saw these boys with my own eyes. They talked to Jenny in a rude manner at the sidewalk close to this house.
Mr. Lucas: Nice. We even have an eye witness. The place they took you to, is it like a hideout or something?
Jenny: Yes, something like that.
Mr. Lucas: And this happened yesterday?
Jenny: Yes.
Jake:(Soliloquizing) That means they skipped school.
Mr. Lucas: And that also means we can proof our statement. We have evidence. You also mentioned that Tyler got the camera, right?
Jenny: Yes.
Mr. Lucas: We have more evidence.
Jake: Wait, who are these guys to you in the first place?
Jenny: They're bullies from my old school.
Jake: What are we waiting for? Let's file a case immediately and report this to the cops (He said as he picked up his phone).
Mr. Lucas: I prefer we meet them in person.
Jake:(Confused) Why?
Mr. Lucas: Cause I think they should see this with their own eyes, so that they don't think we're fooling them.
Jake: That sounds much more better.
