Syla and Fedhr walked towards the right path of the crossroads and continued their expedition while looking around, as the moss and plantation grew more frequent, they knew that the they almost reached the end of the dungeon, where its core was located.
Vines, small water pond, and the gradually changing terrain from rocky cave into fertile soil all made Syla assumed that she was walking in a swamp, her surrouding was damp, and the cave became wider as she went deeper. Not only water droplets, now there's also a sound of frog echoing in the distance.
Ribbit!
Ribbit!
"The design got revamped pretty quickly.. Don't you think.." Syla said with a little smirk.
"We're in the boss room now.. Probably." Fedhr responded, his monotonous tone was confusing to Syla in deciphering whether he was scared or not.
Syla didn't plan to take Fedhr's word lightly, as he was the one that guided her towards this very room, if it weren't for him, she would be lost in the cave by walking through the wrong crossroads, who knows what kind of things she might meet if she walked to the left earlier.
"Alright blank guy.. Let's see what kind of monster lives here." Syla said as she raised her sword with her right hand, her left hand still holding a fireball to lit up the cave.
Grakh!?.. Grakh...
Grrr...
Groukh.. Grokhh..
Not even a minute later, Syla and Fedhr heard the rumbling noises of the orcs infront of them, though their appearance was covered by the darkness of the cave, they both could still see their raging eyes that glowed with red.
The orcs were grouping like an army, and Syla counted that there was approximately more than 20 orcs infront of her, with the biggest one being behind them all seeing as how its glowing red eyes were higher than every single orcs around it.
Grrookkkh..
Grraaakk!
"That's the boss.. What do you think, shoot or not?" Syla asked Fedhr if he wanted her to shoot her fireball or not.
"Shoot once, let the swamps around us get caught in fire, it will be our light source." Fedhr responded, for the first time since Syla met him, he showed a faint smile on his lips that surprised her.
"Okaaay, let's see what we're dealing with!" Syla said, she was infected by Fedhr's smile that her lips gradually widened into a mischievous smirk.
SWOOSH!
Syla threw the fireball in her left hand, she purposely made the fireball bigger that it will carry more explosive power, since the cave around them has widened into an expansive room, Syla realized that it wouldn't be a problem to use her magic since the ceiling also got taller.
GRAKH!?
BOOM!
In an amazing spectacle, the fireball flew straight at the orc in the middle of the group, they initially was shocked and tried to defend themselves using their weapon, but because a fireball is kin to a grenade, the force that it carries after it exploded was way greater than what the orcs were capable of. In the end, a massive boom was heard, its soundwave shook the entire cave like an earthquake, yet it wasn't enough to completely destroy it to the point of crumbling.
Soon, the vines and all of the vegetations that filled the cave room was burned, the fire quickly spread to every inch of the corner, the same frogs and little insects that ringed into Syla's ears previously can be heard screaming in agony as he fire burned them into crisps.
The damp atmosphere and the moist soil that shouldn't be easily caught in fire was now burning brightly, Syla and Fedhr then could see the entire room clearly, they saw how the orcs were panicking, and they also saw the one orc that couldn't be more obvious to be their leader and the boss of the dungeon.
"Heehh.. That's the boss huh, bigger than i thought" Syla said, her smile still hasn't escaped from her face.
"The dungeon core is behind that boss." Fedhr responded calmly.
"If we destroy it, then the dungeon dungeon would fall apart right? Well knowing that we're deep beneath the surface, i doubt i'd be able to reach the exit in time before the whole thing swallows me." Syla said, a drop of sweat formed on her forehead as it slides down to her cheek.
GROAAKKHH!!
Graakkhh!!!!
The orc boss, who looked more intimidating than the orcs infront of him, with his head having a set of horns that mimicked the devil, his teeth fangs protruding from his mouth almost reaching his nose, and his enlarged muscular body that was covered with black tattoo.
The orc boss wields an iron axe with stone handle, that's because through the dungeon's core power, it was able to create weapons by using the materials around it, if it was able to create iron tools, that means there was iron ore near it when the dungeon was just created, the dungeon core doesn't smith, it doesn't smelt, it doesn't forge. Whatever materials it gets from its surrounding, it will be able to create every form of the material and skipped all of the process instantly
After witnessing the chaos that was unfolding to his fellow orcs, the orc boss soon ordered all of the orcs infront of him to attack, and because of the dungeon core influence, the orcs had no way to refuse its leader's order, the boss's order is absolute, and those who refused deserve nothing but death, that is the way a dungeon works.
GRAAKHH!!
GRAAKH!!!
GRUKHAAHH!!
The remaining orcs who weren't burned by the flames charged towards Syla and Fedhr, their stone axes and clubs were being swung and held high above their head as they ran with their thick legs.
Now that Syla was no longer restricted to keeping her focus with her fireball, she could fight normally again, Syla placed her right leg slightly infront of her left leg, and a few seconds later, she pushed all of her strength towards her right leg and was able to launch herself forward at an unfathomable speed.
SWOOOF!
Syla cuts through the air, her speed reached supersonic as a loud boom was heard right after she dashed, it was the sound of her body breaking the sound barrier, and in less than a second, Syla had traveled all the way to the charging orcs.
SWING!
Using the inertia force from her flying speed, Syla added an additional strength by swinging her sword right before she made contact with the rampaging orcs, the orcs didn't even have enough time to react before an explosion happened just an inch away from them.
BOOM!
Although the explosion didn't cause any dusts or rubble to come flying, the orcs was still frozen in fear due to the fact that half of their forces were instantly split into two. From the approximately 20 orcs that were running towards Syla, now their number was significantly reduced to a mere 9, Syla's attack wasn't just an ordinary attack, it looked more like an ultimate that was used to kill a demon.
CLANK!
After Syla killed many of the charging orcs, she was met with the boss, her flying speed was greatly reduced by the orcs, but considering that she was moving beyond the speed of sound, even after cutting many of those orcs, she should still be moving fairly quick, but when Syla were about to swing her sword at the boss, her eyes widened to see that her sword was parried by the orc's iron axe.
'That reaction speed is too fast!' Syla said in her mind. 'This attack was supposed to kill it instantly! I guess i lost too much velocity after kiling all of those orcs.'
Realizing that her attack was unsuccessful, Syla used the massive iron age that was being held by the orc boss as a stepping platform for her to jump backwards, just in time before the orc boss swung its axe at Syla's direction, seemingly trying to land a counter attack after parrying.
'Phew! You're still a hundred years early to kill me!' Syla shouted to herself, her smirk grew wider as she slowly becane immersed in the battle.
This was the first time Syla found an enemy that were able to stood on its ground after taking an attack from her. Unlike the kidnapper named Bruke from Direwell that forced her to use magic for combat and fought her while she was at a disadvantage, this dungeon boss was truly Syla's strongest opponent yet.
"Hey.. It's my turn now, stay back." Suddenly, Fedhr walked forward as Syla landed behind him.
"What are you talking about, we're competing here, whoever lands the final blow on that big boss wins." Syla responded enthusiastically, her heart was racing from excitement and her arms was craving for battle.
"Competing?.." Fedhr briefly cuts his speech. "Sounds good, though i'll be the winner."
In a turn of events, it seems like Fedhr's warrior spirit was also lit up as his face began to transform into a crazy battle junkie, his teeths was grinding against each other in a maniacal smile and he tightly gripped his sword before dashing forward.
DOOSH!
