A few minutes later, as Syla was walking normally among the other passerby, she arrived on a crossroads that branches into 2 separate direction.
Since this was the first time Syla had seen the place, she had no idea where to go next, thus she looked around to see if there's anything interesting at one of the direction on the crossroads, and while she was observing and looked between the passing carriages, Syla noticed a wooden board being placed at the other side of the street, it's location was exactly in the middle of the crossroads, the people from where Syla was standing could see the wooden board clearly.
The wooden board occassionally caught some people's attention, a few of them stopped to see the nailed paper that was being displayed there before leaving and went on with their day, of course Syla was also interested with the board's content.
'Is that similar to a quest board?' She thought.
Syla then decided to take a closer look and crossed the street.
"Excuse me.." She said as she lowered her head infront of a passing carriage that slowed down to give Syla time to pass.
After arriving on the board, Syla then realized that the wooden board wasn't really a quest board, but rather it was filled with wanted posters.
From local bandit to the kingdom's wanted criminals, the wooden board was the place where people could see all of the dangerous individuals that had yet to be captured. It is also the place for strong individuals to challenge themselves in capturing these criminals, as the rewards for it are mostly plentiful.
Syla stood infront of the wooden board for a couple of minutes, she looked at each of the posters there and saw their rewards.
'Hmm.. Most of these only rewards a few gold coins.. But then there's these people–' Syla thought as she glanced at one of the criminal that was wanted by the entire Widewent kingdom.
His name was unknown, but he had been given the nickname Bandit King, his portrait that was clearly drawn was a middle-aged man with long hair that was tied like a ponytail and thick beard, his eyes was purposefully drawn to look threatening, as if he would kill anyone that stared at him directly, his shoulder looked big and muscular, but his lower half was unfortunately not drawn. Syla could tell that this Bandit King was probably an arrogant individual, if he earned himself that nickname, then he'd most likely had a lot of subordinates under him.
'Bandit King's last appearance is– The Great Elderleaf Forest.. Interesting, a Great Forest.' Syla thought, she was surprised to see the word Great Forest, because a Great Forest was just like the name would suggest, a massive forest area that stretched far and wide, with some even larger than an entire kingdom or country.
'Great Forests are the sole reason why this world never ran out of monsters even though adventurers are constantly killing them every single day.. It is also the place where mana is at its highest density, a place where new monster could be born right at this moment and a place where the unexplainable happened deep within.'
'A place like that is a perfect hiding spot.. But it is also a perfect place to die if you're not careful.'
The reward for bringing the Bandit King's head, dead or alive, was 800 Gold Coins, that amount of money was enough live lazily without working for the rest of your life, atleast if you're not wasteful.
Then, Syla looked at the next poster that was wanted by the kingdom.
'Wail Harley, The Leader of the Demonic Cult– Reward 10000 Golds, holy crap.. That's a lot of golds— Dead or Alive.. His crime, Mass Killing, Kidnapping, Arson, Attempted Assassination, Illegal Distribution, Mass Manipulation, Use of Forbidden Magic.. So many..' Syla couldn't read all of the crimes that this Wail guy had commited, his crime was inhuman, its as if the demon king himself resurrected in the body of a human.
Among all of the wanted poster that was put on the board, Wail Harley was the one with the most reward out of any other criminals, he seems to be the most wanted person in the entire kingdom, and his last seen was unknown, there was no written text of where he is or what happened to him.
Syla thought about it for a while, she remembered the conversation that she heard from the Sleeping Dragon Inn, about the demonic cult incident from a decade ago, where the capital of Widewent was almost destroyed by those lunatics, she didn't expect that it would be this severe.
After looking at the posters for a little more time and reading the name of other criminals such as Ragwin Hoiler the Slavery Tyrant and Rayvi the Phantom Murderer, Syla eventually left and decided to visit the adventurer's guild. On her way to the guild, she accidentally passed by a familiar building, it was the magic tower, its entrance was guarded with people in armor and behind the gate was a wide garden with the tower itself standing in the middle, towering over everything around it.
"The magic tower.. Errick said its a wind tower, looking it from up close, it's really tall.." Syla whispered, she stopped her walk to observe the tower on the other side of the street, while Syla was watching, she noticed a few men in white robes greetings the two guards that was standing at the gate entrance, and they opened the gate for the people in white robes.
"Are they the mages that worked there?" Syla muffled.
It seems like the mages of the wind tower was only coming now, they were definitely a bit late compared to the other people that left their house early in the morning, the mages arrived at the tower approximately 9 in the morning.
"...I guess they're cool." Syla said as she turned her body to the side.
She walked again, following the side of the road until she eventually reached the Adventurer's Guild, but before she was able to walk towards the entrance, Syla saw someone familiar in the distance, although she was still hiding beneath her hood and her cloak, Syla could hear the person infront of him calling for her as soon as they saw her.
"Huh? Syla! Is that you?" One of them said, Syla smiled secretly, knowing that they were the mercenaries from before, Errick waved his hand in the distance while calling, and his friends behind him also smiled when they saw Syla.
"Hello." Syla said after she got closer to Errick.
"You're still hiding your face huh, well i understand why– Are you trying to grab a quest at the guild?" He asked.
"Good timing, we're also going out of town today, we got a client!" Yveia suddenly shouted from behind.
"Yeah, i thought i might do some quest today." Syla answered calmly. "Who hired you guys?"
"Oh, it's an alchemist who needed a few ingredients for her potions, she's behind us." Errick said as he pointed his finger toward the figure that was behind the rest of the mercenaries, once they moved to the side, Syla saw a woman standing, she looked young, possibily still in her 20's, short blue hair, and yellowish eyes. She was fidgeting her fingers as if being anxious of something.
"Ahhh, i see.. Is she okay?" Syla said.
"Well, she's a bit shy.. It's a common trait to have for alchemists, since most of them works alone." Errick replied.
He then walked closer to Syla, close enough to whisper into her ears as if he wanted to tell something in secret.
"To be honest with you, we're still tired from all the things that happened yesterday, but we're short on money right now, and you know what they say, can't survive without money in this day and age.." He whispered before stepping back to his previous spot.
'Huh.. i see..' Syla thought.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Verima.." The alchemist introduced herself to Syla while lowering her head.
"Ah, okay.. Im Syla, an acquaintance of this mercenary group.." Syla responded and introduced herself to the alchemist.
'Acquaintance?.. Heh, i guess she is.' Errick muffled to himself.
Syla then looked at Errick and said her goodbyes as she entered the guild.
"Well, i'll be going inside now." She said
Syla saw Errick and his friends glancing at her before they also set out for their quest, the alchemist Verima followed closely as they walked towards the town's gate.
