Next day, 8:00AM—
"That's good, keep it up!" Hensen shouted at Syla while they were training.
At the other side, Syla was sweating like usual, however this time, her body managed to hold up longer than before, her stamina has significantly increased ever since she started the magic training, and along with that, she can also feel her mana boiling, as if trying to break free from a shell that had chained it forever.
'When my body is being overwhelmed like this, i can feel my mana flowing rapidly, its heating my body up, almost like its boiling!– Is this a sign of awakening? It's as if i was about to break free from a cocoon..' Syla thought, a smile formed on her face as she kept dodging the fireball infront of her.
"Break time!" Hensen suddenly said, he gestured his hand to tell Syla to stop and come closer.
"Ah, yes!" Syla responded, wiping the sweats off of her face.
When she arrived at Mr. Hensen and her mother's spot, she sat down and began explaining to them about how she felt. Her dad can't watch her training anymore because he had to go back hunting, he said he'll try to distract his colleagues to not come close to Syla's training spot, assuring her and Mr. Hensen with seclusion.
"Mr. Hensen, i don't know why but everytime i train with you, my body felt like its burning, i can feel something flowing very quickly inside me." Syla said, trying to not overcomplicate her words.
"Oh? that's the sign of your mana trying to awaken, it's in the process of doing so because you're not in an actual danger, so the process weren't instant, keep this up and you'll awaken tomorrow, congratulation." Hensen explained, his words sounded like music in Syla's ears.
"Really!? Yayy!!" She cheered loudly, her mother clapped her hand and congratulates her, a sigh of relief and a big smile appeared on her face, feeling proud of her daughter.
'Finally! I'll be able to use magic!!' Syla thought, when out of nowhere she had a question pops up in her head.
"Mr. Hensen, after i awakened my mana, how do i ex-pand it?" Syla said to Mr. Hensen, she purposefully slowed down when saying expand because she thought it'd be weird if she could say it flawlessly infront of them.
"Well–" Hensen paused, thinking about a way of an answer. "You could try using your magics over and over again, do you know about mana absorbing?"
"Mana ab-sorb-ing?" Syla replied while tilting her head.
"You take mana from outside and then put it inside your body. Mana is inherently a substance that is everywhere, so if you can take that mana and put it inside you, your mana can expand." Hensen said, his index finger lightly tapped Syla's forehead as if trying to make her understand.
"Then! how do i ab-sorb mana?" Syla asked.
"Hmm, for many, the first time is the hardest. First– You need to focus and sit still in any position, then—" Hensen began demonstrating the step by step infront of Syla, he closed his eyes and focused his mind to start absorbing the mana around him.
"Imagine a hollow tube that sticks to your body, once you get a clear image of it, imagine a flowing water entering the tube and into your body."
As Hensen talked, the air around him started to feel cold, and soon, a blue wave-like aura appeared out of nowhere and was sucked into Hensen's body, a faint glow emitted, forming an outline that matches with Hensen's figure.
"Woah..." Syla watched in amazement as the visible mana energy get absorbed right infront of her, the scene lasted for only 10 seconds, but it was enough to make Syla's heart fluttering in excitement.
"How is it?" Hensen said as he opened his eyes and seeing the cute reaction from Syla.
"That was so cool!!" Syla shouted, her voice almost echoed throughout the field.
"Hahaha! Im glad you like it, that's what absorbing mana is, although it looks easy as it only requires you to focus and imagining objects, you need to be careful, because once the mana from outside enters your body, it will cause great discomfort that can disrupt your focus, causing you to lose control and fails." Hensen said.
"Umm, okay!" Syla's face showed confusion, as if she didn't quite understand what Mr. Hensen had just said, of course in actuality, she understood all of it.
"There are also different ways to expand your mana beside absorbing, mana absorbing is believed to be the easiest method of mana expansion, so it has the least amount of effectiveness– Ah, you probably doesn't quite understand that yet.." Hensen stopped mid-sentence after remembering Syla's age, for a few moments there he forgot that he was talking to a 4 years old girl.
As he was about to tell Syla that their break time had ended, Syla and her mother suddenly went quiet, it was such an abrupt stop that it confuses Hensen.
"Sshh.." Syla's mom warned Hensen and her daughter to stay quiet.
"Mr. Hensen!" Syla whispered while holding her index finger right before her mouth, urging Hensen to also keep quiet.
"What's happening?" Hensen whispered back, asking what's wrong.
"There's a footstep sound over there!" Syla then pointed at the north side of the field, it was a significant distance from their spot, yet Syla and her mother could hear the distant footsteps.
'I see, their hearings are way better than humans– Then that means theres something there!' Hensen said to himself, looking at the direction where Syla was pointing at.
"That's—" He said, stopping for a few seconds to get a better look. "An orc!?"
In the distance, there was an orc lurking near the edge of the field, it was being covered by the trees around it, however it'll just just a matter of time before the orc spots Syla and the others, as they are known to have a very sensitive nose. Their chubby body and pig head looked around the area, sniffing the air for a smell that captivates them, when its eyes rolled to the open field and saw 3 figures crouching.
"Shit, it spotted us!" Hensen said, he was no longer whispering and quickly stand up to face the orc. "Okay Syla, here's an extra lesson for you, do you know about these fellow?"
"Um, no idea!" Syla replied, her voice still maintained the same tone as if she wasn't scared for even a bit.
"Right, they're an orc, a monster that lives in swamps, forests, and anywhere with enough moisture. See their pig head? Their nose can smell anything even from far away, that's how it spots us. Although they're usually slow due to their fat body, they can deliver a strong attacks enough to throw someone up into the sky—
As Hensen talked, the orc began charging towards him, its movement was halted by its fat, but it doesn't stop the orc from running, as preys were the only thing it has in its mind.
"How do you defeat them? Easy, first, you can slash their head off with a sword, and second–
A fireball the size of a soccerball began forming in Hensen's hand, as the orc's got closer and closer, grunting while swinging its stone axe, Hensen launched the fireball straight at it, this time, it wasn't the fireball that was used for Syla's training, but rather a real fireball that can kill.
BOOM!
The fireball hits the orc right on its head, exploding upon impact and burning the orc's head, the power wasn't enough to completely blow its head off, but the burning damage was still intense that the orc loses its sense of vision.
"You can use magic to kill it." He said lastly as he was preparing for another fireball and launched it yet again into the orc.
BOOM!
The aftermath that was left from the orc was a burned corpse and plants, a real fireball has enough power to start fire unlike the one used in Syla's training, after the orc was dead, Hensen quickly ran towards the orc's location and put the fire out using his legs.
"Powerful, right?" He said as he turned his head around and saw Syla following him along with her mother.
