His hands unconsciously moved.
Sonny moved closer to him, waiting with anticipation to see if he would wake up.
Sonny noticed the man struggled to wake up; his eyelid kept flickering.
Sonny decided to help him; he spoke in a soothing voice and grabbed the man's hands.
"You're safe."
Then—Killian opened his eyes like he'd heard his voice. He called out, "Sonny."
Sonny smiled. "I'm here."
He asked, "Are you okay?"
His voice turned to a sharper edge. "Did he hurt you?"
Sonny sat by his side, his voice soft like he was soothing his lover, "No, I'm alright. He didn't hurt me in the slightest."
He said with confidence.
Killian, like hearing a magic word, calmed down, his chest eased, and his breathing turned calmer.
"That's good."
Then his eyes closed.
Sonny knew he fell back to sleep.
He turned to the doctor. "How long will he stay asleep?"
