Chapter 160 - Chapter 162: Ilum

"So beautiful!" Milisen lay against the window, looking ahead. It was a blue and white world.

"Sit tight." Amir reached out and pulled Milisen back into her seat.

The Traveler entered the atmosphere smoothly, flying toward the coordinates Obi-Wan had given.

"Doesn't look good." They arrived at the target quickly, but what Amir saw wasn't what Obi-Wan had described.

The peak of the ice mountain was covered in a layer of snow. The steep cliffs reflected the faint sunlight. There was no obvious path on the ground.

"The coordinates are here." Amir had no choice but to land according to the coordinates in Obi-Wan's memory.

Putting on the clothes they bought on Hoth, the three of them, along with BD-4, walked off the ship.

Looking at the smooth, frozen ground and ice mountains in front of him, Amir felt a headache coming on.

Milisen had no worries. She was already ice skating with BD-4, accidentally slipping and falling to the ground.

Amir walked to a high point and looked at the surrounding terrain. Finally, he found a very peculiar landscape. The ice mountains there were arranged in rows, looking as if they had been artificially modified.

After running around like crazy for a while, Milisen's body warmed up.

"Which way do we go?" Milisen asked, thinking about her lightsaber.

"That way." Amir pointed to the place he had seen. It wasn't far from the Traveler, and there might not be a place to park the ship ahead.

So, Amir and 32 returned to the Traveler and pushed out two speeder bikes. The ship should have some transportation for special situations, like now.

Milisen sat in front of Amir, holding BD-4, while 32 rode one himself, looking a bit unfamiliar with it.

Two white shadows sped across the blue and white ice sheet.

Unlike Hoth, Ilum had more ice, and the climate was milder than Hoth's.

But there was very little life here, only some hardy, low-level plants spreading over the ice.

Before long, they encountered an obstacle.

Parking the speeder bikes to the side, Amir carefully sensed the surrounding terrain through the Force.

"Climb over here." As a very important Kyber crystal acquisition site, the Jedi had built many structures here. Not only would younglings come here to find their crystals and make their first lightsabers, but many apprentices would also temper their will and train their Force skills in the training rooms here.

To protect the environment, the Jedi set up small mechanisms outside important mine entrances that could only be opened through the Force. They were effective, but not difficult; apprentices and their leading Masters could easily unlock them.

For example, gates hidden behind pillars that could be raised and lowered, or thick ice layers thawed by light.

"It's so high!" Milisen looked at the obstacle in front of her, her face bitter.

"You can do it. Forgot your recent training?" Amir said. Milisen had already learned to use the Force to overcome her own gravity.

"But! It's still so high!"

32 had also learned this technique. He bent his knees slightly and used the powerful kinetic energy provided by his mechanical legs to easily leap onto the platform, which was less than ten meters high. Although it was suspected cheating, his mastery of the Force was indeed effective.

Milisen swallowed, looking a bit eager to try.

Amir jumped up with BD-4 as well, reaching out a hand to Milisen. "Come on. If you can't reach, I'll help you."

"Mhm!" Milisen looked up at the top, stomped her feet a few times, bent her knees, and leaped lightly. Her small body was like a tossed feather, floating toward Amir in the air.

As Milisen approached the edge, Amir reached out in time and pulled her up.

"I did it! Hehe!" Milisen looked at Amir.

"Great job. Believe in yourself, believe in the Force."

Amir looked up into the distance. A continuous range of ice mountains sat there. On the front face of the cliff, there was a large patch of color that was different.

Compared to the other locations which leaned more toward deep blue, that patch was closer to white. It was likely hollow inside.

"Found it." Amir smiled.

Walking closer, they realized the potential opening was much larger than they had imagined. Looking up, they couldn't even see the top.

"There's a melted spot there!" Milisen pointed to the middle of the ice layer.

Amir looked over. Indeed, a hole had been melted there, large enough for a person to enter and exit normally.

A bright beam of light shot out from inside the hole.

Amir raised his hand to shield his eyes from the light and walked inside the opening.

After entering, Amir looked around.

This was undoubtedly a space carved out by humans. Flat ground, smooth walls carved with murals, as if telling a history.

In the center of the room, there was a sphere encased in hollowed-out metal. It was the light emitted by this sphere that had melted the ice wall at the entrance.

This sphere didn't glow out of nowhere.

The ceiling of the room wasn't a completely sealed cover. There was a hole, and another identical sphere was at the opening.

Bright sunlight projected from above the hole, converged by the sphere into a beam of light that shot directly onto the sphere in the center of the room. Reflected again by this sphere, it reached the ice layer at the entrance.

"This kind of sphere is strange." Amir walked closer to observe. Sunlight from just a small hole, no matter how converged, would be hard-pressed to melt hard ice. The material constituting this sphere must have some special property.

When sunlight flowed through it, a special reaction must have occurred inside the sphere, amplifying the sunlight several times over.

"What is this place?" Milisen also walked in.

"It should be a meditation chamber." Amir looked at the surroundings. There was no clutter for training. With the center of the room as the origin, calming patterns spread outward on the floor, very suitable for sitting in meditation.

"Oh. I hate meditation." Milisen instantly lost interest in the room.

"Let's keep going inside. This is just the entrance." Amir found a similarly light-colored ice layer ahead. It should be hollow behind it too.

Using the Force, he rotated the sphere in the center of the room, deflecting the light beam to shine on it.

Before long, a hole appeared there.

This time, the space inside the hole was much larger, looking like a mine tunnel.

"Good luck," Amir looked at the two behind him. "After entering, split up. Kyber crystals aren't just chosen by you; they choose you too. A lightsaber made with a crystal that truly suits you will be much handier to use. Listen to the guidance they give you through the Force."

"Mhm!" Milisen nodded vigorously, full of energy.

32 was also a bit expectant.

"I'll go in with you. If there's any danger you can't handle, just shout for me." Amir led the two into the tunnel.
