Chapter 148 - Chapter 150: The Smart Combat Pack

Early the next morning, Amir dragged 32 over. He had a semi-robot on hand; of course, he wasn't going to let him go to waste.

32 still had many shortcomings in combat. First, he hadn't been trained with firearms. His marksmanship was on par with a rookie stormtrooper. If he was pinned down by a ranged enemy, he could only hide. So, Amir decided to make him an auxiliary combat system.

As soon as 32 sat down, Amir opened a hole in his back and began to operate. He was busy until noon.

When he finally finished, 32's back looked a bit thicker, because there was now an automatic firing device there.

This was the good thing about a semi-robot. His body could be modified at will. Sometimes, you could even use his body parts directly to simplify necessary procedures. For example, the auto-targeting function for the blaster, which originally required a scanner, was routed by Amir to his cybernetic eye. It was convenient, accurate, and truly hit whatever he looked at.

32, shirtless, touched his bald head, shrugged his shoulders slightly. A slender mechanical arm suddenly extended from his back. Amir had used a very strong alloy for the entire arm; it would be hard to destroy with a blaster. At the end of the arm was a miniature blaster barrel. Since it didn't require manual firing, many of the components designed for humans were omitted.

Its power wasn't great, but its strength was in its firing rate and accuracy.

And with blasters, even if the power isn't high, getting hit is definitely not pleasant. A hit to a vital spot is still fatal. As an auxiliary device, it was excellent.

Amir looked at his work with satisfaction. He wanted to make one for himself. Unfortunately, he didn't need it; machine shooting wasn't as accurate as his own.

Looking at the leftover materials, Amir had a sudden idea and started tinkering again. With the forge, the range of things he could make had expanded. Many ideas that were difficult to implement before suddenly became very convenient.

In a short time, the prototype of a small, square metal backpack was built. On this basis, Amir began to fill the inside. With the experience from just now, using the remaining similar components, Amir worked with ease. In less than an hour, he was finished.

Finally, he attached a strap to the small alloy box, tied it to his back, and walked out of the Traveler.

Walking to the side of a tan rock hill, Amir pressed a button on the strap on his chest. The next second, just like 32's new weapon, a mechanical arm extended from the small box on his back, holding a blaster barrel. Unlike 32's, this barrel had its own spherical micro-scanner.

If it were just this, Amir wouldn't be so happy. He pressed another button. Two more mechanical arms extended from the left and right sides of the square box. As Amir walked in front of a man-sized rock, the two arms automatically extended. One hand released a strong electric current, and the other suddenly spewed intense flames.

"So fierce..." Amir looked at the gray rock and smiled.

This device should be called a "Silver-Coin Happy Box." It was perfect for inexperienced people to protect themselves. He could let Milisen wear it for now. Based on its function, he'd call it the "Smart Combat Pack."

At this, Amir couldn't help but think... 32 was still missing something. He could discharge electricity, but he forgot to install a flamethrower. Looked like he had more work to do on him later.

After a busy day, 32 had two large packs on his back, and his forearms were a bit thicker. But compared to his previous thinness, he looked much stronger now.

Milisen was also happily wigg ling around with her small pack. The mechanical arms on her back wiggled with her, like they were performing some cult dance.

Amir once again took out the design for his bracer. He had made this a long time ago, before he went to the military academy, when his understanding of mechanics wasn't as good.

The core of the small bracer was his own custom-programmed smart system. This system controlled everything, including the communicator with a screen—the closest thing Amir had made to a cell phone—and the miniature spider-droids that folded up like buttons and attached to the bracer's grooves. A tiny holographic projector was embedded in the center.

Amir had programmed all the other miscellaneous functions into the "phone."

Now that he had the means, Amir naturally had to upgrade it.

This was a bracer, after all. Only a bracer that could block a lightsaber was a good bracer. Using Beskar on the outside was too conspicuous and would easily make Mandalorians hostile. So, Amir used Beskar on the inner layer, the side closest to his skin. The outer layer used another strong alloy for decoration.

The inner and outer layers combined, perfectly covering the internal mechanical components.

Amir spent most of the following time making molds. Once the molds were ready, he just needed to pour in the molten alloy. Finally, he hammered out the imperfections, gave it a polish, and a spray-paint job. A plain, unremarkable bracer was born.

Amir nodded with satisfaction. It had been a fulfilling day. Although he hadn't trained, he had gained a lot. Obi-Wan was already swamped teaching Milisen and 32, so he hadn't noticed him.

After a busy day, Amir was also tired. He drank a bowl of porridge and went to rest.

For the next few days, Amir resumed his normal training. In his spare time, he built a few more Smart Combat Packs for his inventory.

It wasn't that he needed to build them. Amir just felt that working on mechanics was a relaxing thing for him, purely for entertainment.

But since they were built, he could send a few to Ahsoka and the others. Veronica would definitely love it.

Obi-Wan finally walked into Amir's workshop, curious. "What have you been tinkering with these past few days?"

"Oh, just some... primitive combat tools?" Amir said tentatively.

Obi-Wan looked at the iron boxes in the corner. "Milisen already showed off to me. The paint job is... nice."

Amir let out a breath of relief for some reason.

"Of course. That symbolizes the guardian of urban peace, the dark fighter who strikes at criminals. It's a symbol of justice." Amir had sprayed a flashy Batman logo on it.

"What's that? A Coruscant urban legend?" Obi-Wan asked, puzzled.

I'm not Jax, believing in that stuff.

"Not a legend. It happened in Coruscant's Gotham City. I've even seen him," Amir bullshitted.

Amir finished his work. He had made another bracer for his right hand. It had nothing inside, so its diameter was smaller than the left. The right hand was the most important. After all, Amir was right-handed and usually used his lightsaber with his right.

"Hmm... a dark fighter. Could it be a hidden Jedi...?" Obi-Wan fell into thought.
