They are in their youth, their emotions are at their peak, their hearts are full of passion, and they hope to do something great and be admired by thousands.
We can't expect this group of big kids to see through the world like an old monk.
Just like Anakin's tragedy, Amir remembered three important things.
The first was his mother's death. An incredibly strong guilt and anger enveloped him. He lost control for the first time, and driven by anger, he completed his revenge, slaughtering the entire Tusken Raider tribe. The seed of the dark side was planted in his heart then. Not only that, but he also felt resentment for his own weakness in not being able to save his mother. This fueled his desire for power. At the same time, the fear of death took root in his mind. It was Padmé's love that pulled him back from his grief.
The second was his love affair with Padmé. This secret relationship itself violated the dogma of the Jedi Order. And after foreseeing in a dream that Padmé would die in childbirth, the fear buried by his mother's death resurfaced. He was terrified of Padmé dying. This time, he was still not strong enough; he couldn't control life and death. Thus, the desire for power and the fear of death and loss crushed him, leaving him helpless.
The third was the Jedi Order's treatment of Anakin. After foreseeing Padmé's death, Anakin still trusted the Jedi Order. He first sought help from Master Yoda, but Master Yoda didn't realize his tormented state of mind. Instead, he told him to follow the will of the Force and let it be. Compounded by the mission to spy on Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and the bizarre decision to give him the title of Master but no real authority, Anakin's trust in the Jedi Order hit rock bottom. At this time, the Sith Lord seized the opportunity. Anakin's fall to the dark side was a foregone conclusion.
Based on Anakin's experience, Amir constantly wondered, was emotion really the reason for his fall to the dark side?
Amir didn't think so. It might have had an influence, but it was by no means decisive.
First was Anakin's personality. He was too impulsive, too emotional, always acting on his own will, often defying the Jedi Order's commands, trusting his feelings, and acting on them. This itself was behavior that leaned toward Sith doctrine.
Then there were Anakin's tragic experiences. His mother's death had already left a deep obsession in his heart. When he saw the vision of Padmé's death, he fell into fear. This fear is unavoidable for anyone. In his fear, he lost faith and began to blindly seek help everywhere, finally grasping the Sith's temptation as a life-saving straw and falling into the abyss.
And then there was the Jedi Order's inaction. If Yoda and Obi-Wan had known, had listened to his pain, had analyzed the limitations of Force premonitions for him, had strategized with him, and had prepared for the possible tragedy together, instead of standing on high and telling him to "let it be"... then Anakin, who was still loyal to the Jedi Order and trusted Obi-Wan and Master Yoda, would have had his fear lessened. He would have been far less likely to be deceived by Sidious's temptation. Even without the power to bring back the dead, he would have believed that with the full help of the Jedi Order, Padmé could give birth safely.
Was the factor of emotion really that significant? In Amir's view, emotion was just a fuse, not the main cause at all. There were countless opportunities to save him, but every time, the right choice was missed. The tragedy could have been avoided in the simplest ways, but under the "coincidence" of fate, things became unstoppable. Darth Sidious's plotting, Anakin's stubbornness, and the Jedi Order's inaction were all far more powerful influences than emotion.
On the contrary, it was his love for Padmé that pulled Anakin's heart back from the darkness when he lost his mother.
Furthermore, in Qui-Gon's experience, it was also the love between him and Tahl that stopped him at the gates of the dark side. Not to mention the future scene between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. It was precisely the profound love between father and son that redeemed Darth Vader from the bottom of the abyss, allowing him to return to the light, fulfill the prophecy of the Chosen One, and bring balance back to the galaxy!
Life becomes interesting because of emotion. The Jedi also become charismatic because of emotion. Emotion should not be denied.
This is what Amir had always believed. Perhaps he would lean more toward Master Yoda as time went on, but his current thinking would not change.
Since emotion could not be completely abandoned, and it wasn't the absolute weakness that led to the dark side, Amir was more willing to accept and control it.
So, in this experience, Amir clearly felt his own anger, but he still actively triggered it, released the dark Force, and obtained forbidden power. In this process, he knew his purpose clearly, knew that the dark Force was just a tool he was using. After his anger subsided, Amir also knew he no longer needed this power, and so the darkness dissipated like smoke.
Qui-Gon had been watching the entire time. He had naturally seen the entire process of Amir's Force changing, seen his emotional switch, and seen his determination when facing death.
That was why he had asked Amir if he could sense his own emotional changes.
If you can sense it, you can control it.
In fact, he already had the answer when he asked the question.
Amir was sober from beginning to end.
Obi-Wan finally understood Qui-Gon's meaning and asked in surprise, "Are you saying Amir's perception and control of his emotions are very strong? He can maintain his true self while using the dark side?"
Qui-Gon didn't answer, but looked at Amir.
"Probably. I felt the dark Force mobilizing my dark emotions, but it was weaker than I imagined. Although it gave me a headache, I resisted it. I don't think I was affected," Amir said after a thought.
"You remind me of Master Mace Windu. He was a very powerful Jedi Knight, and also had superior control over his emotions. He used Form VII, Vapaad. This form enhances one's strength by enjoying the thrill of battle. It's very close to the dark side. But Master Windu, relying on his powerful control over his emotions, could remain undisturbed by it, retracting it freely," Obi-Wan said with emotion. He was no longer so worried about Amir. Since Qui-Gon had confirmed Amir was fine, he chose to believe it.
Qui-Gon gave one last reminder: "Don't get careless because of this. The easiest mistake to make when facing the dark side is thinking you can completely control it."
"I know," Amir replied seriously.
The brief conversation ended. With Qui-Gon's help, Amir had clarified his true condition.
Just as he was about to rest, a familiar communication came in.
Amir looked down. Hey, it was an old acquaintance, Seneal.
This guy is a cash cow. I got the Traveler from him. I wonder what new scheme this old fox is up to, calling me now.
The white Quarren's head appeared in front of Amir.
"You've gotten a tan, Amir. You didn't leave comfortable Coruscant to go suffer on Tatooine, did you? Hehe." Seneal gave his sleazy smile, which made Amir feel a sense of nostalgia. That's him.
"What's up? You suddenly thought of me. Got some good news?" Amir asked.
"I heard someone's been messing with the Pykes' business these last two days. If I'm not mistaken, it's an acquaintance of yours. I remember his name is Kayin," Seneal said, getting straight to the point.
