The medical droid fell silent, its glowing green eyes staring eerily at BD-4, making BD-4's metal scalp tingle.
⊙﹏⊙ I didn't leak any electricity, did I...
"Unregistered personnel detected. Initiating alarm system." The medical droid, it turned out, had been scanning BD-4 while it was frozen.
Hearing this, BD-4 panicked. Can't let it sound the alarm! The plan will be ruined!
Its small head spun frantically. BD-4 popped an electrode from the side of its head, turned away as if it couldn't bear to watch, and shoved it forward.
With a bright flash, the medical droid convulsed and fell from the air, crashing into a nearby counter. Rows of glass containers smashed to the floor. The chaotic sound made BD-4 feel like it was in big trouble, and it quickly fled to a corner of the room.
Just then, it saw a large machine in the corner, with lines of data flashing across it. One of the columns was no longer scrolling, as if an unknown error had occurred.
BD-4 cheered up. Didn't I just find it? This machine was probably connected to the main network. BD-4 quickly sent a signal to Amir below.
"A message from BD-4." Amir looked at the signal on his wristguard and moved around below, trying to pinpoint BD-4's location. He finally lined up with a room.
"How are we supposed to cut through that high up?" Parks looked at the ceiling, worried.
"That's easy. Forgot we're Jedi?" Amir smiled, levitated his lightsaber, and began to cut a stable circle in the ceiling. He cut slightly away from BD-4's signal to avoid accidentally injuring him.
He slowly cut a circle. The round piece of ceiling fell down on its own.
Parks's eyes widened: You can do that?
Amir jumped right up. Obi-Wan followed. A height of four or five meters was nothing for them, but the others below were left staring. They couldn't jump that high.
"How do we get up?" Parks was helpless again.
32 glanced at the two beside him, walked under the hole, flexed his legs, and jumped up. He left Parks and Mando in disarray below.
Amir smiled silently and said, "Just jump. I'll pull you up."
Parks realized, slapping his forehead. I forgot again.
Mando and Parks jumped together. Obi-Wan and Amir used a Force pull, bringing them both up.
"This machine..." Amir saw BD-4 standing on a glowing machine. It had connected its port and was working hard to crack it. Seeing Amir, it made way and beeped twice.
"Why is it so dark?" Obi-Wan ignited his lightsaber again, illuminating the surroundings. He observed the containers on the rows of shelves and noticed one counter was knocked over.
Ignoring the surroundings, Amir plugged his wristguard's connector into the port. His wristguard had a pre-set program that could quickly break through most Imperial firewalls and automatically steal data.
Amir was very confident in his hacking skills, especially against the Empire. He had used this to hack the security system at the Imperial Academy and sneak into the storeroom.
Soon, a progress bar popped up on his wristguard. Amir smiled.
The group stood guard. Obi-Wan secretly opened the door and looked outside. The empty corridor was clear.
"Once we confirm the children's location, we can't hide anymore. I'll message Ahsoka to begin the attack. We'll have to prepare for battle then," Parks said, watching the progress bar and taking the blaster off his back.
Once the rescue began, a conflict was unavoidable. So, before the conflict, they had to use a frontal assault to draw all the base's security forces to the upper levels.
"Ahsoka has some preparations this time. We'll definitely give this filthy base a good cleaning! At least make it shed a layer of skin, so it can't continue the experiments!" Parks said hatefully.
Amir patted the large pack on his back. "Be confident. We'll just blow it up."
As he spoke, Amir threw a few more "biscuits" in the room.
"You're right! With these explosives, we can destroy it directly!" Parks also became agitated. Explosives were scarce. Their entire organization didn't have many concentrated, timed charges like these. He didn't expect Amir to just pull out so many.
He grabbed a few from Amir's bag and went to plant them. He could also identify the building's load-bearing structures.
Before long, Amir spoke: "Data transfer complete!"
Amir saw the 100% signal on his wristguard and unplugged the connector.
Parks, who had hurried back, quickly took out his datapad, connected it to Amir's wristguard, received the data, and began to check.
After transferring the data, Amir plugged back into the machine and began to operate it again. Just stealing the data wasn't enough.
Parks skillfully operated his datapad for a moment and pulled up an interface. It was the lab's log.
"The floors go up from the bottom. We're on Floor 2. There's one child on Floor 19 having blood drawn. Six on Floor 10 undergoing routine stress tests. The remaining 11 children are in the storage area on Floor 5, in hibernation," Parks said, having scanned the data, and looked up at the group.
"This building has 202 floors. Above Floor 50 is all clone experimentation. They use large numbers of individuals, implant genes, accelerate growth, verify results, and discard them after use." Parks closed the datapad and slung it on his back. "These clones have no consciousness. They are just used for experiments and are never awakened. Ahsoka will bring them peace. We just complete our mission!"
Amir nodded. "Three locations in total. To save time, we split into three groups. After the rescue, we head to the sewer on the lowest level and evacuate to the Traveler. Once everyone's in position, we leave."
Everyone nodded.
"Floor 19 only has one test subject. We'll send one person." Amir looked around. The Mandalorian stepped forward and nodded.
"Okay. Parks and I will take Floor 10. 32, you and Obi-Wan go to Floor 5 first. Wake the children from the hibernation pods. Parks and I will meet you there to help," Amir said.
Everyone agreed.
"Then I'll notify Ahsoka!" Parks opened his communicator and sent the "begin assault" command.
Far from the planet, Ahsoka and the Resistance fleet were ready. After receiving the command, a dozen ships took off from the plain and rushed toward the target.
Veronica sat in Ahsoka's co-pilot seat, checking the status of her mechanical arm.
"Are you ready?" Ahsoka asked. "The effective range is only 200 meters. We have to attack at least 50 floors down."
"Of course." Veronica smiled confidently, patting the backpack on her chest.
