In another place, a boy with blue colour torn up clothes fell on the ground under a bridge as a result of being low on calories. His hair is white as snow with uneven bangs.
But his pupils were multicolored purple, so anyone who looked at them could tell they were pretty without a doubt. At this moment, those eyes look at the river with an empty gaze.
"Damn it! I am gonna die from hunger."
He looks listless, as if he is morally conflicted about how he solves his predicament, as it is the only way of surviving that comes to his mind. The boy has low self-esteem, as anyone would see through easily.
"There is no way that I will die from hunger!! So I have no choice but to take from others!!" He felt his inner demons in his head provoking him as he straightened up.
"Shut up! Die in the ditch! There is no way! I am not gonna die! I am gonna live no matter what it takes! I am gonna rush to the very first person who comes along and then steal everything they've got."
The white-haired boy said as a bike went down the street at very high speed, as if fate was comically trying to crumble his resolve.
"That mission is impossible. There's no way I could chase after the bike with an empty stomach; well then, next"
The boy looked at the road as he saw a military police platoon marching. His face little distorted as his eyebrow started to twitch.
"I.....I doubt military police have their wallets during their training. But the next person comes along....for sure!"
Then he turned around with a hard expression, as he had a human radar within him to sense people at least a few meters away from him.
"You are mine, man!"
Then he was dumbfounded by the sight before him as he saw two legs floating in the river, twitching like they were the legs of a wind-up toy.
The boy felt his eyebrows twitching as he started to talk to himself as the crows started to land on the legs. "He wasn't quite what I had in mind, and I can't possibly count him...right?..."
Then he heard the muffled sound of the person whose legs belong to as he was trying to breathe. The boy felt comically conflicted about whether to save him or not as he started to debate with all his multiple personalities. "Y...yeah, I'll pass, please." He said before he saw crows start to peck at his legs.
"Yeah, I'll....FINE!" Then he jumped into the river and brought the person to the shore. He panted as he looked at the person.
'In the end, I saved a life', he thought as he felt his own body almost becoming lifeless due to hunger and cold now as he looked at him.
It was a brown-haired man. He was wearing a sand-colored coat and an open-collared shirt. He's tall and thin while his unkempt appearance leaves much to be desired, he has somewhat handsome features.
Soon, his pupils came to the right place as he opened his eyes.
"You were floating down the river. Are you okay?" the white-haired boy asked.
"I made it", he said with a blank look before clicking his tongue. "Tch"
"Tch?!" The white boy stared at him with the corner of his eye, clearly annoyed that his effort wasn't appreciated.
"Are you the one who interrupted my submersion?" The brown-haired man asked.
"I was trying to help", the boy said with a huff, still annoyed as he didn't process the words he said. Then he was stunned at what he heard, like a light bulb. "Huh?! Submersion?"
"You don't know what I mean by that?" The man asked as he stood up. "I was trying to commit suicide."
"Huh?! Suicide!?" The boy freaked out. "What do you mean by that?!"
"I was trying to kill myself. But you just had to interfere..." He said with a pout as he got annoyed at how he got interrupted.
The boy looked at him as his mind processed that the man was scolding him for saving that man from committing suicide as he sweated.
"Still, my priority is to commit a clean suicide without being a burden to anyone. Yet I troubled you," he closed his eyes and talked as he looked like he was accepting his fate dramatically. "So how can I apologise to you—"
Soon, his words were cut off by the growling sound of the boy's stomach as he smirked at the boy.
"Are you hungry boy?" the man asked while placing his hand on his chin.
"Well, to be honest, I haven't eaten in several days—." Then his words were cut off by the growling sound of the other one's stomach as he looked at the boy with cat eyes that were comically funny.
"Neither have I. And my wallet got washed away by the river"
The boy became frustrated with his overwhelming hunger as he made a face. "Ehh? Shouldn't this be the point where you thank me for saving your life by treating me to a hearty meal or something?"
In response to that question, the man looked at him with a blank, questioning look, as he didn't understand anything he said.
"Don't make that look!"
"There you are, blockhead!" Soon, another voice came from the opposite bank of the river, as the boy and the man turned to that side.
It was a blond man in two piece neat suit with a low pony tail with spectacles. He looked at the brown-haired man with irritation as he held a notebook in one hand while crossing his arms and tapping the floor with one shoe impatiently.
"Oh hey", the other man playfully waved his hand. "Nice work, Kunikida-kun"
"Nice work? And just who caused all of this work, you suicidal maniac?! I've had enough of you disrupting my schedule!" A throbbing vein appeared on his temple as he started to ramble.
"I have a great idea." The man looked at a boy with a sloppy smile. "He is a colleague of mine from work. Let's have him treat you to a meal."
The blonde man snapped, but the man ignored him. "Are you even listening to me?"
"What is your name?" He asked. The boy flinched, as he wasn't used to others asking about him, and he flinched before slowly and hesitantly saying his name.
"Nakajima.....Atsushi"
"So, Atsushi-kun, what do you want to eat? It is Kunikida-kun's treat." The man said, completely ignoring the blonde. "What do you want to eat?"
"Um, if you don't have any trouble..." the boy hesitated; clearly, he had something in mind.
"There is no need to hold back!" The man said with a grin.
"I like to eat tea on rice", the boy said quickly in a high pitch as he was embarrassed. Hearing that, the man burst into laughter.
"So the boy on the brink of starvation wants to eat tea on rice?"
"Very well, let's have Kunikida-kun treat you to thirty bowls of that." He said out loud with a happy-go-lucky smile.
"Don't get all generous with my money, Dazai", Kunikida snapped again.
"Dazai?" The boy asked curiously, looking at him.
"Yeah, that's my name. I am Dazai. Dazai Osamu" Kunikida rolled his eyes impatiently.
At that time, a very strange black bundle floated down the river. It was mixed with a heavy scent of blood, and it grabbed the attention of both men and the boy as their eyes comically followed the black cloth of the puddle that was floating in the river.
"What the—" the blonde looked at it again while fixing his glasses, as he had a bad feeling that this evening was going to be even more troublesome for him than handling a suicide maniac and a boy on the brink of starvation.
