Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

"No, it shouldn't be..." she gently shook her head as she tried to sense any familiar chakra signature around her and, if not, try to assess the threat around her.

Sensing neither, her mind went blank for a moment, trying to figure out the situation.

"Can you tell me how far the Land of fire from here?" Itsuho turned her head to the man who was still holding her hand.

"Land of fire?" Instead of Dazai, Kunikida asked back a question, but it sounded more like an exclamation.

"What are you talking about? There is no such place in Japan."

"Huh, the land of fire is one of the biggest countries in the world. What are you talking about?" The girl frowned, clearly not recalling a country called Japan on her world map.

"Sorry, miss. I never heard about a country named Land of Fire before," Dazai said as a dread feeling washed over the girl.

"Japan? I never heard that either. Hey, is there any shinobi village nearby? If you know, can you tell me where?" Itsuho asked with hesitation as the bad premonition in her heart got bigger.

The brown-haired man was taken aback by her questions as he slowly answered. "Err... I don't think we can even find a shinobi, let alone a shinobi village. Those are only in fantasy books."

"Though in ancient times there were samurai, even now there are still one or two of them that could be found", Kunikida said in the middle, clearly frowning at the strange situation he is in.

"What?!" The girl was startled, clearly not accepting Dazai's answer well.

Somehow, the way they said it made her question whether her whole life was a fantasy for a moment, sensing the emotions of the people around her. But she shook her head as she recalled reading some ancient scripts as well as the records that the Sage of Six Paths left.

Some of those mentioned situations were similar to her own predicament now.

'Beside there is no way my life is just a fantasy. The pain I had, the grief I felt, the fulfillment I had even for a little time or the scars that I bore tell no lie'

"You said there are samurai still exist, right?" She turned to Kunikida as she contemplated what Kunikida said.

"There are, but meeting them isn't easy, at least", Kunikida said lightly as he clearly not wanting this situation to disrupt his already messed-up schedule.

"You are quite familiar with them" Feeling his evasive answer, she said confidently as the other two also looked at him.

Dazai raised an eyebrow as he knew what Kunikida was thinking. For a millisecond, he was taken aback at the sharpness of Itsuho despite being blind, but he returned to his happy-go attitude soon after.

While Atsushi looked at Kunikida with awe, as the only samurai he knew was the famous war hero Ouchi Fukuchi.

"That isn't something I can say to someone with questionable appearance and mentality"

Under the glasses, Kunikida's eyes sharpened as he looked at the still-fresh blood stains on her hands, clearly knowing it wasn't hers, as well as the bloody scalpel she held, clearly understanding the threat emitted from her.

She sighed, not offended by his scrutiny as she understood his cautious attitude. She started to recall those ancient scripts she found from time to time during her travels as her mind finally started to comprehend where she was now more rationally.

"Well, I understand your concern since I am not exactly a harmless material in the first place. But the thing is..."

She paused to find the words that she had to say next, knowing the seriousness of this matter.

".....I am not from this world."

Her words were enough to make the other three stunned speechless as a weird kind of silence spread around them, as the only sound one hearhere from there is the slow flowing sound of the river.

"...for real?!"

Kunikida blinked, looking at her speechlessly as the other two weren't that different from him in the way look at her. Even though she can't see them looking at her, feeling the strange, seizing-up gazes from them, she almost laughed... well, if not, she is in such a predicament.

"Yeah, for real real"

Itsuho grinned wryly as Dazai chuckled, feeling deja wu. With that confirmation, Atsushi took a step back and hid behind both men as he freaked out a bit.

"....Are you really sure about that?" Dazai's eyes became sharper for a moment before they returned to their previous unreadable state.

"I am totally sure that I am in a world that is totally different from my own"

Itsuho felt a headache coming as she confirmed while explaining more.

"In my world, the Land of fire us most powerful elemental nation in the world; there is no way such a country not known by others. While I never heard of Japan and saw such a country on my map. Moreover...."

She turned her head to them as if she tried to keep their gazes.

"I am a shinobi in that world, which happens to be a bit famous"
