Chapter 32 - Ascend

Levian and Diana fell asleep on the sofa that morning. Their house had a shared bed; however, it felt too intimate for them to use at the early stage of their relationship.

Still, she fell asleep on his shoulder like a pillow.

He woke up early the next day, gently making sure not to stir her from her sleep.

Then, after bathing and taking care of anything else that needed taking care of, he left a note for Diana, letting him know that he would be back soon, and headed back up towards the Goldtree Academy.

The academy had not opened for the students yet; however, Levian was allowed in by the guards, who had been given orders by the king himself to do so.

Levian guessed that the time was roughly 5am. Too early for most people to get to work, however, Levian couldn't remain idle.

Ever since leaving the Bladeblessed estate, he couldn't stop thinking about what sorts of enemies he must have created for himself.

That was why he needed to gain strength as soon as possible. He needed to unlock his mastery.

In the training ground were spare weapons, which he used to put into his soulspace, turning them both into legendaries.

Then, without wasting any time, he prepared to use the two weapons to create a Mythical Weapon.

The weapons fused together, and he took a deep breath in before summoning the result.

He felt confident that the entities wouldn't trouble him; however, that didn't remove the risk entirely.

He still needed to make sure that he stayed ready at all times.

Levian summoned the weapons.

[Mythical Weapon Acquired!]

[AN ENTITY IS APPROACHING!]

The weapon that was summoned into Levian's hand was a one-handed mace named Krag, which seemed to have been forged from living vines of a tree. The head of the mace was a coiling mass of thorns and flowers, which had a green energy constantly swirling around it.

Levian knew better than to focus on the weapon. Instead, he gripped it tightly in his hand and looked around him for what was to come next.

Suddenly, a tear opened in the air above him, and from it emerged a cloud. The cloud seemed regular. A dark shade of grey that was ready to let out its rain.

Once it did, the rain gathered in a singular spot rapidly forming a puddle on the ground in front of Levian.

As he looked down at the puddle, rather than seeing his reflection staring back up at him, he instead saw a cloud, a shadow figure as dark as the night.

It resembled a human, yet had no facial features.

Levian felt a chill run through his body, but he remained strong.

"H-hello?" His words quivered from his lips, wondering if the being would want to communicate with him.

His efforts were futile, as the being suddenly vanished, and the cloud returned into the tear in the air.

The puddle remained on the floor in front of him, but it was nothing but regular water.

Levian let out a held breath.

If that doesn't confirm that the entities don't want anything to do with me, then I don't know what does.

His mastery progress was now at 50%, which meant that he had only two more mythicals to create before unlocking his mastery.

With every step of progress he made, his anticipation increased.

He quickly scanned over the weapons stats and skills before placing it back into his soulspace.

Afterwards, he rushed over to the weapons rack, grabbed two weapons and started the process again.

Previously, he had taken time when it came to creating weapons, but now that he understood his talent further, he didn't feel like there was any need to.

The only drawback would be the weight on his soulspace every time he placed a weapon inside, however, he suspected that after mastery, that problem might be solved.

Levian withdrew the weapon once again.

[Mythical Weapon Acquired!]

[AN ENTITY IS APPROACHING!]

It was a spear named Overspark, made from a blue glowing metal that resembled crystal. The head of the spear was made from a bolt of lightning itself which zapped the air every so often.

Levian waited for the familiar entity to arrive. He was now more comfortable with the process, simply expecting some otherworldly being to appear, only to leave a few moments later.

However, after ten seconds, nothing had happened.

No rips in the air. No trees forming from the ground, no figures in the puddles.

And then...

"Why do you keep tempting the demigods?"

A powerful voice suddenly came from behind Levian.

Its resounding tone shook the ground beneath him, forcing him to wobble on his feet.

He struggled to turn around, fearful of who spoke with such a tremendous voice.

Yet at the same time, he thought that not answering such a being might earn him a death sentence.

Levian turned around slowly, and he was finally met with the entity.

Or perhaps, he could be better described as a man. A giant man.

The Giant stood there, roughly 3 meters tall, and muscular, with tanned, rough skin. His face was almost entirely covered by a bushy white beard and eyebrows. Draped over his giant frame were loose, white robes that were dishevelled and tattered.

His eyes were an unnatural yellow that glared down at the small man before him, waiting for his question to be answered.

When he realised that Levian was too stunned to speak, the giant continued.

"You play with fire, and are bound to be burned."

Levian swallowed a lump in his throat, finally taking control of his breathing.

"Who are you?" He asked with less confidence than he would like. "And why haven't you, or anyone else attacked me?"

The Giant's thick brow raised as he heard the small voice of the man before him. He seemed as though he wanted to laugh.

"A man as weak as yourself? Have you even surpassed platinum? There is no reason for the demigods to attack you."

Levian tried not to show the offence on his face, but he wasn't able to hold back his words.

"But these weapons. Even if I'm not strong, these weapons are supposed to draw the attention of the gods. They're Mythical."

This time, the giant did laugh. He slashed his thick arm through the air, and a portal spawned into existence, leading to a void.

The Giant went to step inside, but first flashed one last look at Levian.

"Only a mythical? Ascend past platinum, and create a worthy weapon, then we will speak again."

Then without another word, the man disappeared.
