They only knew that the Mysterious Rider had intervened and repelled the Ethereal horde. They didn't have a monitoring system as powerful as Fairy's. To put it in perspective, if Fairy could provide a 4K live broadcast, the outpost could only manage 480p. Their equipment hadn't always been so slow, but after a certain artificial intelligence "borrowed" some of their computing power, they were left with a lag that was painful to watch.
Now, Roland was leading an elite unit to intercept the Mysterious Rider. This wasn't his idea; it was an order from above. The higher-ups had been monitoring the Mysterious Rider for a long time. They had watched the limited combat footage over and over, and their conclusion was that such power could not be left unchecked.
The existence of such a powerful being, whose allegiance was unknown, was enough to give the leaders of New Eridu sleepless nights. Establishing contact was essential to determine if he was a friend or foe, so they could finally rest easy.
The leadership was currently divided into two factions. The radical faction believed it was crucial to learn the Mysterious Rider's identity and attitude. They wanted to "encourage" him to cooperate with the leadership, an attitude that reeked of bullying. The other faction, the laissez-faire group, believed in letting things be. The current state of non-aggression was fine, so why provoke him? What if they angered him?
The radical faction, however, constantly berated the laissez-faire group. Their hardline stance was backed by the fact that they had the support of the Hollow Hunter, Hoshimi Miyabi, as well as numerous other hidden trump cards. All the existing Hollow Hunters in New Eridu owed the radical faction a favor. If they could just get a hold of the Mysterious Rider, they were confident he would submit.
The radicals weren't as brainless as they seemed. They were cunning. After all, they weren't the ones making direct contact with the Mysterious Rider. And even if they did anger him and he did something irrational, they could just notify all the Hollow Hunters and claim that the Mysterious Rider was a threat to New Eridu's safety. As the city's guardians, the Hollow Hunters would surely intervene.
To ordinary humans, there was no difference between the Mysterious Rider and a Hollow Hunter. Both possessed unimaginable power. When humans tried to comprehend something beyond their understanding, they naturally concluded that the Mysterious Rider and the Hollow Hunters were on the same level. How could seven of them possibly lose to one? The New Eridu faction was just too strong, they thought.
"By the looks of it, you've decided now is the time to test me? You think because I'm on the side of humanity, I'll be easy to deal with?" Mo Xuan asked Roland, who looked pale, a hint of amusement in his voice.
This was all within his expectations. He had done too much in New Eridu. Even though it was all beneficial to humanity, his unknown identity made it inevitable that he would be targeted. This kind of probing was bound to happen sooner or later. They had just chosen to do it when he was at his strongest.
"That's not it. We just wanted to ask you to stay and cooperate with an investigation. You see, the Shiyu defense battle just ended, and we wanted to thank you," Roland said, forcing a smile that looked more pained than a grimace. This military officer was fine with fighting to the death, but subterfuge was clearly not his strong suit.

"Tell me, who's behind you? I'll go have a chat with them," Mo Xuan asked.
Since some people in the New Eridu faction wanted to play games with him, he might as well play along. He would use this opportunity to put an end to this once and for all, using the most forceful means possible to prevent anyone from bothering him again. If he was caught in a weaker, more basic form next time, it wouldn't be so easy to escape.
"This was my decision alone," Roland said through gritted teeth.
While he didn't want to make things difficult for the Mysterious Rider, his orders were clear. As a soldier, he had to obey commands and would never betray his superiors.
"Hmph... Hahahaha." Mo Xuan suddenly burst out laughing.
To Roland, the distorted laughter sounded like the mocking cackle of the Grim Reaper. A chill ran down his spine, and he had a feeling something terrible was about to happen.

"I'm laughing at your human imagination. Do you really think I need to 'ask' to find the person behind you?" Mo Xuan raised his hand and patted Roland's cheek lightly. Then he stood up, raised his right hand, and wiped the tip of his horn with his index finger.
Kamen Rider Evol's head was divided into six sections, almost all of which had information-gathering capabilities. Mo Xuan had long since used his head sensors to detect that someone was transmitting information to Roland's earpiece. With the power of these sensors, reverse-tracking the sender was a piece of cake.

Two seconds later, Mo Xuan reappeared in the same spot, this time holding a man with partially white hair and a pained expression. The man looked to be in his early sixties and was wearing a finely tailored white suit adorned with over a dozen medals representing his authority in New Eridu.
