Cherreads

Chapter 40 - Chapter 40

Miyu Senju, ninja of Konohagakure, jōnin rank, current only user of Wood Release, bounty: 50,000,000 ryo, S-class ninja.

I looked at the information provided by Iwagakure in the Bingo Book: quite short, but it conveyed what they meant. I wonder if Kakuzu will now want to hunt me down with this new bounty and knowing I have Wood Release.

Ignoring all this, I'm surprised by the number of people who didn't know I didn't have Wood Release. The truth is, I don't use it much in combat, since, as a free-to-win fighter, I tend to use other elemental ninjutsu just to give my opponent a sliver of hope of winning.

But at least since becoming a jōnin, I never tried to hide that I possessed Wood Release, but even so, there were several ninja who didn't know, not to mention civilians.

Now, when I walk by, they lower their heads and give me things for free; I have become like a guardian god of the village or something.

I think the only civilians who knew I had Wood Release were from my clan.

...

With a flick of my sword, I managed to slip into my opponent's guard and, with a swift movement, disarmed him. I then delivered a kick to his stomach, forcing him to double over. Afterward, with a twist of my body, I kicked him in the face, sending Raido crashing into some trees.

"And dead. You see, sword styles are useless. All that honor stuff is for samurai, and from what I know, they don't follow it to the letter either," I retorted as I snorted at Etto.

"As brutal as ever. I expected nothing less from sensei," Raido said, collapsing unconscious to the ground.

I simply approached him, grabbed him by his clothes, and carried him to the little monkey, who was covered in ash and smoke from trying to show off a technique he was trying to learn.

I don't think inhaling that much smoke is good for her lungs, but knowing her future work ethic—it runs in the family—she should be fine; I even cleared her lungs with medical ninjutsu.

Meanwhile, I saw Kurenai jogging, her body drenched in sweat, looking like her legs were about to give way at any moment.

After talking with her, the idea is to fuse genjutsu with different ninja arts, like taijutsu and ninjutsu.

I already did this a bit with shurikenjutsu, but if you're not an Uchiha, it's not worth looking into.

We're focusing on taijutsu first, but we need to improve her physical condition to an acceptable level, like mine. If it weren't for chakra amplification, my taijutsu level would drop to that of a standard chunin. If it weren't for Jiraiya's help, I'd be a basic genin.

Now that I think about it, Kurenai is perfect to be my disciple; if it weren't for her dream, I would have forced her to be one, but I'm not going to make those brats change their minds and jump on my bandwagon.

Anyway, these brats weren't so bad.

"Cough cough," I heard the little monkey cough as it came back to life.

He looked around, seeing Raido lying unconscious and somewhat injured beside him, and noticed me staring at him.

In his immense intelligence, he feigned fainting out of nowhere, trying to avoid being trained.

I simply approached him slowly and stood inches from his face.

I saw sweat begin to trickle down his face, and his breathing, though seemingly steady and natural, was impossible due to his nervousness.

"Well, I think I'll have to give Kurenai some special training, since her companions weren't conscious, or at least I hope so. If they were faking it, I think she'll hate them for the rest of her life," I said to the air.

Asuma's body swelled with sweat, and he stiffened even more than an unconscious person should.

I turned around and, after taking four steps, heard a noise.

"Ah, what a nice dream, but what happened to me? I think I fainted; thank goodness I woke up in time," the little monkey said.

I just turned around to look at him and smiled, letting him know I didn't believe a word he was saying.

He was just bummed out about having to do the training, but as long as he didn't earn Kurenai's hatred, he could handle anything.

"It's good you're awake. Let's train your chakra control by making you walk through strong currents of water while I throw various fire and earth ninjutsu at you; it'll be fun," I explained my new training method, which I had just come up with.

I saw the regret on his face as he woke up. The worst part was, he couldn't complain to his father, since he had threatened that if he called me to the Hokage's office again about the training, I would triple it just for him. The worst part was, the old monkey couldn't stop me at all.

...

I saw the three kids painting a fence, which, if I'm honest, would have been better if we'd just bought new ones, but I didn't care what the client wanted; I just had to complete the mission.

When they graduated from the academy, Kushina sent them on D-rank missions, mostly because she didn't know how to train them, so they just did missions.

For them, these missions didn't make sense; it's something that happens to all genin during times of peace.

But when I took over as team leader, the D-rank missions became a refuge for rest.

The more D-rank missions, the better for them.

While they were doing D-rank missions, I took advantage of the time to study, more specifically, human biology.

The bloodline experiments may be over now, but I still have a fully functional lab and some ideas I'd like to pursue in the future.

Right now, I'm planning to train some members of my clan who have a bit of a scientific bent, from both the Senju and Chinoiken clans.

That's good, since I wouldn't have to recruit people from places I don't know or even from the Hokage himself, who might be a spy. Not in the sense of stealing what I make, but in the sense of being informed about what I'm doing, something that honestly bothers me a little, so if I can avoid it, that would be ideal.

"You can hurry up. I know you're doing this as slowly as possible so you don't have to train later, so if you don't hurry, the next training session will be even more hellish than the last," I told the three oddballs I had to look after.

"Damn it, he's already figured us out," the little monkey complained.

"What do we do?" the third-rank mage asked.

"Do as he says; there's no other way," the swordsman half-heartedly replied.

Without thinking, the three of them started working faster than usual, hoping that this would earn them my mercy.

Honestly, they were already training their personal skills extensively; I think it's time to start working on teamwork, as they'll need it when we have to carry out C-rank missions.

...

In my personal workshop, I was refining the details of a new fuinjutsu, which I had been practicing for some time, inspired by the Flying Thunder God Technique (Hiraishin).

In the end, I had to create something entirely new, but using elements of the Flying Thunder God Technique itself.

The technique consisted of five marks, one for each weapon. With these marks, I could summon a specific weapon by applying chakra to the hand seal and performing a specific hand seal—five for each weapon. I could expand upon it further, but I don't have enough weapons to do so.

So far, I only have the Thunder God's Sword and Etto. Since I'm going to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique at some point, I'll use a weapon, either a kunai or another sword, for that purpose, similar to what the protagonist of Final Fantasy XV did, throwing his sword and teleporting with it.

Since I had some space left, I went to ask for a special weapon, using chakra-conducting metal, inspired by one of the most famous—and, for some, overrated—anime, given its less-than-stellar ending.

That's right, I'm talking about Gyomei Himejima's weapon. A weapon based on brute force, perfect for me. It consisted of a one-handed axe with a chain ending in a spiked ball, or rather, a flail.

I gave the blacksmith the specification that the weapon had to be capable of destroying someone's head with a single swing of the flail and destroying any part of the body with the axe, also telling him he could use as much chakra-conducting metal as he needed.

The blacksmith took it as a challenge, accepting it eagerly, since these kinds of weapons are very rare; they're all ninjatō or kunai, and the most extravagant would be a ceremonial katana.

In fact, the weapon Raido uses is a black ninja sword; I don't know where he got it, but from what he told me, it's been in his family for generations.

I had my eye on the sword; it wasn't bad. It wasn't on Etto's level, but it was above average.

In the meantime, I'll leave one of the 5 slots for when I find a worthwhile exotic weapon, like stealing the Kusanagi from Pedumaru; now that's worth it.

I leaped across the three-pronged kunai raining down from all sides.

"What an annoying technique," I complained about Minato's use of the Shadow Clone Shuriken jutsu.

"If I weren't serious, I wouldn't be able to beat you so easily," Minato told me with his trademark smug expression—or rather, a reference to Kushina.

"So you want to end this fight quickly, probably so you can go on a date with your girlfriend? Well, that's a shame, since I was just about to try out a new ninjutsu I learned not too long ago," I said with a maniacal grin and eyes that screamed madness.

Upon hearing my words, Minato became flustered, and I saw him vanish in a yellow flash.

I was already somewhat accustomed to Minato's speed, having developed excellent reaction time, so, using Earth Release, I launched myself into the air with the help of a pillar, avoiding Minato's attack.

I landed in a secluded spot, away from the kunai; it wasn't much use, since Minato was still the fastest ninja in the elemental nations even without them, but it did slow down his movement.

Without wasting any time, I performed the hand seals.

"Wood Release: Wood Man Jutsu," he announced to everyone around him.

The ground beneath me began to crack, and a multitude of wooden formations emerged. First, a wooden dragon appeared, followed by a muscular man who had the dragon wrapped around him like a snake.

(Note: I recently discovered that "wyvern" and all its variations all mean dragons, but in different ways, and that "dragon" was a way of referring to snakes. crazy, I don't know if it's true, but it made sense to me.)

It might seem like overkill to use ninjutsu to fight and control tailed beasts against a mere man. But this mere man was the future Fourth Hokage, who for a time was considered the strongest Hokage. Like all the Hokage in their time.

"Admire my newfound power and strength; it's a shame, but you won't be able to defeat me so easily, and unlike you, I can fight here nonstop, hahahaha," I began to mock my opponent, who stared at me with eyes of both horror and amazement.

In a secluded spot, Kosuke stood with the three brats he was supposed to look after.

This was a simple training exercise so they could witness a real ninja fight; The truth is, I don't know how we got to this point. Maybe we both got carried away in the moment.

"Thank goodness I came; now I can take care of the three of you." I thought I heard Kosuke say that, but at this point, I didn't care; I only had one goal now: to destroy Minato Namikaze.

(Note: Crazy, people, Miyu was possessed by the Coringa, or as some of you might know him, the Joker.)
