The world is a very large place with trillions of living things. As individuals, we know that we are just one of many. We understand that the world is much larger than we are, but for some reason, all those who live unconsciously believe that they are the center of everything. We believe that the world is here for us, and this misconception leads us into thinking that without our presence, the world will not go on. We understand that this thinking is flawed since we see many people die only for the word to go on. Still, we have a belief that we are somehow special and our absence from the world will be reflected in some way. Thinking that we as individuals are special in all of creation is innately built in each of us.
For one to become a Supreme Magician, they have to accept that they are simply a small part of the world. The magician has to accept that they are connected to the rest of the world through a clear and mysterious connection that can never be severed, even in death. While accepting this, the magician also has to understand that they are just one of many. They have to accept that the world was something that had been in place long before they were born, and it would be here millions of years after everything is gone. Cate had lived for a very long time, but she had failed to realize something so obvious for so long.
"It is not simply a matter of knowing the facts. I must accept everything and let this knowledge lead me forward. Each action must be taken with this understanding sitting at the back of my mind. This is the way." The moment Cate let this knowledge sit in her heart, she felt a connection to the world. This was something she had never felt. The nothingness that surrounded her was finally shattered with an explosion of darkness that birthed light. Cate returned to the real world, and the first breath she took allowed her to fully appreciate the intricacies of life and the world.
She looked at the large ivory clock on the wall, and she could not believe that she had only been gone for less than a minute. "It felt like a million years." Cate felt the power moving through her body. "I am finally a Supreme Sorcerer." Cate inspected herself from head to toe, and the more she saw and felt, the more she realized how much she had changed. Ever since she used the Original Sin Spell on herself, Cate had been transforming into something she did not fully understand.
"My breakthrough has accelerated the transformation." Her fingernails appeared normal at first glance, but they now had hints of black. Her hair had become thicker and seemed to be covered by a terribly tough layer. Her skin was smoother than ever, and it was gaining a bronze luster to it. She stood up and looked in the mirror on the wall. Her eyes were red, and her features were sharper. She was still recognizable, but this was only the beginning of the changes. When she first used her Original Sin spell, Cate had felt a terrible hunger that had lasted for years. Right now, that hunger was back with a vengeance.
"Bring me a goat." Ion read the message out loud, but he still did not understand what Cat meant. In the Wandering Palace, Cate only needed to think about sending a message, and the palace would do just that. The message was sent in the form of a well-written formal letter in a black envelope. Ion had just received the letter in his hands. He thought about what his master meant by this, and in the end, Ion decided to simply accept the message as it is without any interpretation.
The Wandering Palace was so large that it even had a farm. The palace had grounds in the hundreds of acres. Ion just went to the farm and grabbed a random goat that had been moving about. The thing bleated, but Ion was not moved by its pleas. The moment he reached Cate's door, the door opened and Cate grabbed the goat, pulling it into her room. The moment the door was closed behind her, Cate bit into the goat's neck, ripping out a chunk of flesh. The goat cried in pain. After a few more bites, the thing stopped kicking and died in Cate's hands. She did not stop until every ounce of the goat was in her stomach.
Cate let out a sigh of relief since the hunger had calmed down, but it only lasted three minutes. Cate was taking a bath to remove the goat smell and blood when her stomach began rumbling. It felt as if the hunger was a living thing, and it was pissed at Cate's attempt at tricking it with a goat. Cate fell to the shiny floor and cried out in pain. She felt her insides being turned over. The sounds coming from her body made the bathroom shake, and the water in the tub moved about as if it was boiling.
Cate felt something coming up through her system. She bent over the toilet and began vomiting. Everything came out. She had eaten an entire goat, and right now, she vomited every piece of it. She vomited for over ten minutes before her stomach was completely empty. The hunger was eating away at her reason. Her eyes shone with a red light, and her body trembled from the pain. Cate fell back to the floor and writhed in pain as she cried out like a pig being slaughtered. In her quarters, no one could hear her cries, leaving her to suffer for another hour all alone before it became too much for her.
Cate gave in to the hunger. She got to her feet in such a way that the floor cracked from all the power flowing through her body. Cate could sense the precise location of all the living beings in the palace. She sensed all the life in the farm. The hunger drove her to go there since it seemed like a land of plenty.
