17:30
The plane had barely stopped when Yin was already on his feet.
He left the airport without incident, crossed the continuous stream of travelers and hailed a taxi.
He entered the back of the vehicle. The driver's face remained hidden in the shadows.
—Where are we going, stranger? asked the deep voice.
—Wall Street.
A slight laugh escaped the driver.
— We plan to do business, eh?
The engine roared. The car started.
---
18:00
They stopped in front of a colossal building, made entirely of glass, rising several dozen stories like a vertical blade planted in the city.
On the facade shone a sober and imposing inscription:
Cai Enterprise Banks — CEB
Yin got out of the taxi with a clean movement, closed the door without a word, then headed towards the entrance.
The glass doors opened silently in front of him.
Inside, marble and steel dominated.
Everything exuded wealth, control…and something else, older.
He walked with a calm and determined step to the reception.
— Hello sir, welcome to the CEB Group.
What can we do for you? asked the receptionist with a professional smile.
— I would like to transfer funds as an intermediary.
- Alright.
Your identity, that of the original owner, that of the recipient…
And a guarantee of confidence from the owner.
Yin took off his glasses.
His eyes shone like polished silver.
His iris, completely white, radiated a silent pressure.
For a moment, the receptionist let her true nature slip:
her eyes took the shape of bat pupils before she pulled herself together.
They looked away almost simultaneously.
Yin put his glasses back on.
"That will be enough," she said, regaining her composure.
You are a bringer of glory...this is not common, even here.
She inhaled.
— Let's continue.
Identity of the owner and guarantee of affiliation?
—I represent the property of Atlas White Savior.
Yin tossed a golden circular badge, engraved with the name, onto the counter.
As soon as the receptionist touched it, its authenticity was confirmed.
- Alright.
She opened a drawer and took out a key which she handed to him.
— Floor seventy.
Room seventy.
- THANKS.
Yin walked away and entered an elevator with tinted windows.
Inside, a hundred buttons numbered one to a hundred lined the panel.
Yin concentrated his energy on the tip of his index finger and pressed 70.
The button slowly slid to the side, revealing a slot hidden in the shadows.
Yin broke down the key:
it was not material, but energetic.
The energy shaped itself, inserted itself into the lock and took shape.
He turned.
The elevator lit up.
Halos of light materialized around him, accelerating until they were dizzying.
The beams became blinding... then suddenly went out.
Silence.
The doors opened.
---
Yin entered a closed, dark room, almost out of the world.
A woman was sitting there.
She wore a white veil hiding her face.
He sat down facing her.
- My friend…
you should be ashamed to come back, she said calmly.
You still owe me a lot.
I calculated the interest.
— I didn't come for that, Jun.
But for a transfer.
— I received the file.
A silence.
— So, you have gained the trust of the best enchantress of her time...
and Whites.
- Yes.
She doesn't go out anymore.
I act as an intermediary.
—And the recipient?
— His granddaughter.
Jun paused.
— A granddaughter...
I wasn't aware of it.
Then, as if struck by something obvious:
— So that's why she allowed you to transfer her studies on spirits…
Spirits: the links of the cosmos.
She leaned down slightly.
— But before that...
When do you plan to pay me back?
- Five.
His tone changed.
Cold. Sharp.
— Five years is insignificant...
But when I lose my patience...
- Four.
Jun smiles under her veil.
- Alright.
Four billion, sixty-seven million,
three hundred and twenty-five thousand,
three hundred and fifteen.
— Deal concluded.
Yin looked away inwardly.
I got fooled...
But at least I got the notebook back for her.
A darker thought crossed his mind.
Caesar…
Why are you coming to upset our balance, old senile fox?
