The ride back to the mountain wasn't easy, for it quickly turned into a low budget horror movie. Silence covered the insides of the armored vehicles as they passed through the valley.
No one was talking, or planning any parties, they were just trying to breathe.
Most of them were afraid because random mutated beasts were walking along the same path they were taking. Most had responded to the summoning of the beacon, but when it was cut off, they were stranded.
Those that dared to attack the convoy were shot or killed in different ways by superhumans. Some ignored the convoy and surprisingly, the squad responded the same way, by ignoring them.
Meanwhile, Zulu's voice accompanied the travelers.
"Tonight's topic is the bad habit some of our residents have acquired lately: hoarding ice cubes like they are gold nuggets. I get it, the sun is being a major bitch, but you were given heat suits for crying out loud. Nobody should be that desperate."
