Ultra Instinct—a state whispered among divine beings, yet so difficult to achieve that even gods themselves rarely perfected it.
The conventional combat process relied on external stimuli triggering brain response, which then commanded bodily action. However, in the Ultra Instinct state, both offense and defense occurred without brain intervention whatsoever—operating with unparalleled speed and precision. This awakened ultimate potential and enabled exponential improvement beyond normal limitations.
What Raditz currently practiced was precisely this: Ultra Instinct!
"DAMN IT! DAMN IT ALL!" Vegeta grew increasingly impatient. As a Super Saiyan God, he should have narrowed the gap with Raditz considerably. Yet neither he nor Goku could land a single strike against Raditz. This realization created yet another chasm in his pride.
Goku felt both surprise and frustration, though he didn't vocalize complaints like Vegeta. Instead, he forced himself to become faster—no matter what it took!
Raditz initially matched their accelerating pace, dodging with fluid grace. But suddenly, subtle stuttering appeared in his flowing movements—microscopic gaps developing between each evasion. He noticed immediately that something had shifted incorrectly, his expression gradually changing with concern.
BOOM!
Finally, Vegeta executed a feint that created an opening. Goku seized the opportunity, delivering a solid kick directly into Raditz's torso. Raditz retreated rapidly, stabilizing his aerial position as the air behind him exploded like artillery shells detonating.
"I hit him!" Goku exclaimed with surprised satisfaction.
"That was genuinely careless of me," Raditz muttered, rubbing his stomach with a slight frown.
Whis laughed aloud, waving his staff casually to restore the damaged surrounding terrain to pristine condition.
"It wasn't carelessness—you simply haven't truly begun mastering the technique yet. Initially, you did enter a legitimate Ultra Instinct state. But progressively, you reverted to relying on your natural speed advantage rather than true instinctive movement. So once both Goku and Vegeta pushed their velocity beyond previous limits, your technique failed."
"I haven't made real progress after an entire month of training?" Raditz asked with surprised disappointment after hearing Whis's assessment.
"Hahahaha! It's only been one month—accomplishing this much is actually quite impressive. I'll tell you secretly..." Whis's eyes narrowed with amusement as his voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper, "Even Lord Beerus hasn't achieved perfect mastery."
Both Goku and Vegeta reacted with immediate shock. If even the God of Destruction couldn't perfectly execute this technique, what tremendously powerful ability must it represent?
Perhaps after learning this skill, they could legitimately challenge Beerus himself!
"What exactly is this technique..."
"Ultra Instinct," Whis explained patiently. "In conventional battles, you think before reacting—and there exists inherent speed limitations in that process. Sensory information travels from your five senses to your brain, then through neural pathways to your body. This creates unavoidable delay. However, if every body part could independently judge and act autonomously, you could avoid virtually any danger."
"Then... Master Whis, have you achieved perfect mastery?"
Whis smiled warmly. "Hohohoho, naturally I have mastered it completely. I can anticipate and avoid any danger before it manifests." His tone carried both gentle humor and absolute confidence. As an Angel, his true strength remained utterly unfathomable—even Gods of Destruction received instruction from Angels.
Ultra Instinct might well be a technique Angels taught to their Gods of Destruction.
"If you wish to comprehend this ability, you must first refine your physical body to sufficient levels. This represents a divine technique that imposes tremendous burden—pressure even gods struggle to endure. If your physical foundation proves inadequate, your body will literally collapse from the strain. Therefore, Raditz—you currently qualify for intensive training. However, Master Goku and Master Vegeta require additional foundational practice before they can safely pursue this technique."
Whis's smile divided them into two distinct tiers.
This classification made Vegeta's expression darken considerably. He'd been training relentlessly for so long, yet still hadn't caught up to Raditz? These words coming from Whis carried undeniable authority—which only intensified Vegeta's unwillingness to accept the assessment.
Yet he also clearly recognized Raditz's overwhelming capabilities. From their recent sparring exchange, he'd sensed that Raditz as Super Saiyan God remained substantially stronger than himself at the same level.
"Hmph! I will surpass you eventually!" Vegeta gritted his teeth with fierce determination and immediately resumed training with renewed intensity.
Seeing this, Goku also rushed over. "Hey, Vegeta! Don't leave me behind!"
The two quickly engaged, initiating fierce combat.
Clusters of violent explosions roared through mid-air, shockwaves rippling across the Realm of Destruction. Plants and vegetation bowed beneath the pressure as their battle intensified. BOOM-BOOM-BOOM—the tremendous sounds continued endlessly.
"Master Whis, should I continue my own training?" Raditz inquired.
"Raditz, how did you feel during that exchange just now?" Whis asked rather than directly answering.
"Just now... well, initially it seemed I possessed no conscious thoughts whatsoever—acting purely on instinct. But later, as you observed, I apparently reverted to merely exploiting speed advantages."
Whis nodded approvingly. "Precisely correct. Do you recall what I told you previously about overthinking before attacking? At that time, the defensive and offensive principles I taught contained elements of Ultra Instinct's foundation. To achieve ultimate mastery means acting spontaneously—completely at ease. Initially, you entered the proper state because extended meditation had completely eliminated distracting thoughts, allowing you to express your abilities at maximum efficiency.
"You've merely touched the threshold currently—you haven't genuinely comprehended Ultra Instinct yet. However, your advantage over them is superior physical foundation capable of bearing divine power's burden. Therefore, you can progress more rapidly. The next critical step involves eliminating concepts of self, enemy, and battle during combat—fully integrating yourself into the flow of action."
These words sounded philosophically reasonable yet frustratingly abstract. Principles at this dimensional level couldn't be clearly conveyed through verbal instruction alone.
Raditz didn't expect to master Ultra Instinct quickly. He understood that techniques of this caliber demanded tremendous sustained effort to learn—this would be an extended journey.
Suddenly, an irritated shout erupted from Beerus's palace: "IT'S TOO NOISY!"
The tremendous sound rushed forth accompanied by a mass of destructive energy. The majestic momentum suppressed all disturbances instantly. The fierce battle between Goku and Vegeta was immediately interrupted as heaven and earth split—a massive crack appearing across the dimensional dome itself!
"Oh dear, Lord Beerus has lost his temper again," Whis remarked, his mouth curving with helpless amusement. His figure vanished like a phantom, reappearing high above in the blink of an eye.
He blocked the annihilating destructive energy with a single hand, then employed even greater power to completely neutralize the God of Destruction's attack.
Everyone broke into simultaneous cold sweat. Beerus was terrifying enough, but Whis proved even more unfathomable. The destructive energy's potency would instantly kill even Super Saiyan Gods upon contact—yet Whis casually resolved it. His capabilities exceeded their wildest imagination.
"It appears Lord Beerus has been disturbed from his rest again."
"Can't be helped. I suppose I'll return to Earth and prepare an exceptional meal..." Raditz shrugged with a helpless smile, already planning his diplomatic peace offering.
