After Zena and Anvil's spar the combat class soon came to an end.
The next class was wilderness survival. The teacher taught about most biomes that were know and how to deal with them. He also covered how to start fires and fine suitable food.
Once the class was done they headed to lunch. This time they were surrounded by many people who were wanting to get to know the two new people with True Names. Anderson did not want to answer most of their questions while Zena was much more talkative. Since both did not want to stay like that they quickly ate their lunch and headed to Nightmare Creature Biology.
This time Zena drank a single drop of blood at the start of the class and started dissecting the creature. When the scarred teacher came by she told him about what the creature could do physically and all of its weaknesses. The teacher pointed out the few things that she missed. Anderson was more focused on how to prepare the creature for cooking as not all parts of the creatures are edible. Finishing that class they headed to their final class.
Unlike the day before Ash was there before them.
"So the two of you have True Names. I'm shocked that the two of you didn't bring it up. Sol did the exact opposite. Everyone thought she was crazy at first. It was until they announced that she did have a True Name that people believed her."
"Well we thought that he could gain benefits while not being swarmed. Take Sol for example any time I have seen her she is surrounded. We did want the same. We had thought that telling the interviewer would allow us to get some benefits and stay unknown to our batch, but as you can tell that did not go as planned." Anderson explained.
"Good plan, but they don't keep much hidden when it comes to stuff like that"
At that time the teacher walked in and started the class. They covered the same subjects, but over different points in the subjects. Once they got to math Ash left for the day.
They headed to dinner again and chatted to Ki Song while trying to not get swarmed. When she let they left too.
And just like the day before Anderson went to the training room while Zena studied.
This cycle continued on and on. Weeks passed. Anderson moved to the sparing group however he was still not at the level of the top contenders in the sparing group, but he was in it. The two learned many ways to survive in the beginning Wilderness survival class. It had ended and the two decided to take the advance courses too. In the Nightmare Creature Biology class they got good at picking apart nightmare creatures even when not dissecting, but it would take much more time to get good it. There General Education class was going well too. For math levels Zena reached level three and Anderson reached level five.
They continued this. The more time passed the more they learned. Once there was a month left before the end of the year Anderson had finally gotten to the level of the rest of the top contenders. However, Ash and Sol had out passed everyone in the class. Both of them started to spar with some of the awakened instructors while they used essence to impower their bodies.
Besides that the advanced wilderness survival class had ended too. Anderson started going to the library to read. Even though most books were digital the library was still a calm and quite place to read. Zena on the other hand started taking one on one instruction with the scarred biology teacher. She made leaps and bounds in her knowledge of nightmare creatures. By this time Anderson had reached the same level Ash. This only happened since Ash did not stay during the math section most of the time. However, seeing Anderson reaching his level caused him to stay most of the time. Now the two worked together to understand it. They both managed to reach level ten. This was a great achievement as Awakened Samantha had only reached level nine before becoming the teacher of the class. Zena had reached level six by this time, usually leaving during this section to go practice combat as she had reached the point that she was between the two groups in combat. Too good to fight Anvil, Ki Song, and Anderson while not good enough to fight Ash and Sol.
So that's how it went till the last week before the Winter Solstice.
The last day of classes was solemn. The spars happened.
Anderson fought Ki Song. Ki Song had started with a swing to his shoulder. Anderson had backed away swinging his spear he parried with the tip of the spear before swinging the butt of the spear into the unguarded side of Ki Song. The strike was strait into her liver. Causing her loss almost all her focus. Letting Anderson quickly end the fight.
"Damnit that was a lucky strike." Ki Song heaved.
"Your the one who left it open so why wouldn't it take the shot. You were almost asking for it."
As they spoke Zena's and Sol's fight was going on. Sol although have a True Name was not as good at swordsmanship than Ash. So for the last day Zena wanted to beat Sol at least once. She would have liked to beat Ash, but the day before she was miserably destroyed.
Swing her sword Zena tried hitting the agile Sol. The only reason Sol was able to fight Ash was due to how hard it was to hit her. Her innate ability made her as nimble as a fairy. Zena's strikes though were getting very close to hitting Sol, but close was not hitting. Every swing missed and Sol dodged until Zena over extended slightly. But that was all it took for Sol to jab her rapier through Zena's guard and straight to Zena's neck. Ending the battle instantly.
Sighing Zena recovered, "Well I guess I failed at my goal of beating one of the two of you."
"You were close. If you were any faster I might not have been able to dodge and even then your stance is good. That last over extension was what killed you though."
Finishing up and cooling off they watched Anvil getting thrashed by Ash. Anvil was on the backpedal. Having to block every single one of Ashes strikes and then both of their swords broke. Both swords were sent flying, but that did not stop the fight as they went into a melee fight. Punches were thrown and Anvil went down.
