UK:GSW Chapter 418 – Uchiha Madara and Uchiha Kei Are About to Have an Epic Meeting (Part 1)
"Uchiha Madara has already started suspecting Black Zetsu… and he's thinking about it? Mm, not bad. Looks like the big pillar's influence on the old man Madara has fully returned. Muzi's companionship these past days really has worked wonders."
After hearing White Zetsu's report, Uchiha Kei nodded in deep satisfaction—he was genuinely pleased with the results of Senju Hashirama's time as Muzi, keeping Madara company.
After all, before this, Madara had grown old and frail, living underground for years. He was no longer the proud "Shinobi Shura" who would defy the heavens, but rather a schemer obsessed solely with completing the Eye of the Moon Plan.
At that time, Madara's heart was steeped in darkness. Even when the illusion game allowed him to experience the vigor and health of youth again, he only enjoyed the feeling of vitality—his personality showed no change.
Back then, even if someone found Madara and told him the truth, it would have been pointless. He would not have believed it, nor admitted it—he would have gone straight down his path to the end.
And without a way to deal with Black Zetsu or decisive evidence, there was no meaning in revealing the truth to him—it might have directly led to a fight.
It wasn't until he met Muzi that change began—just began.
Like some grand manipulator weaving fate, through constant, ongoing interaction with Muzi, Madara's mentality and personality slowly emerged from that shadowy, rat-like role of an underground schemer.
Although his body still lived in darkness, his mind spent most of its time in the illusion game, building a home together with Muzi. His mindset and state were truly regaining some of their former glory.
Moreover, because he saw Muzi as both a child to be cared for and, in a sense, a way to make up for past regrets, his attitude carried an elder's affection.
Under these circumstances, Madara's condition kept improving, and persuading him gradually became possible.
But it still wasn't enough—further change was needed to truly make it possible to bring Madara over.
Then, "Uzumaki Kenshin," Muzi's fiancé, appeared.
Stimulated by Uzumaki Kenshin, Madara's emotional fluctuations became extreme. And such intense fluctuations would further stir his inner self, awakening the true Madara he had cast aside.
In such a state, with evidence in hand and a method to control Black Zetsu and unearth the truth, all that remained was to tell him.
Still, for the finishing touch, Uchiha Kei added one more move—a soul-piercing performance of "expending all will, never changing even through reincarnation, all to save a deceived best friend."
For Madara, this was like being hit with a full-special-attack blow while already running an updated version of himself, complete with maxed-out buffs.
For someone like Madara, emotional attacks would always work better than physical ones.
With such a result, Uchiha Kei was satisfied and entered waiting mode.
He believed that, in Madara's current state of mind, there was only one choice the man could ultimately make.
Sure enough, once Madara thought it through, the aged Shinobi Shura decided to follow his best friend's last words: to seek out Uchiha Kei, seize Black Zetsu, and uncover the truth!
With that resolve, Madara left his White Zetsu throne.
One of the strongest shinobi the world had ever known began to move once again.
This time, Madara refused White Zetsu Afei's request to accompany him, ordering him to remain at the base and keep watch. He departed alone.
Though aged, nearly a year of the "system's shut-in nourishment package" had restored Madara's strength—he no longer needed Afei's assistance to exert his full power.
Of course, with Afei, Madara would be even stronger and freer to act. But given the intel that Black Zetsu could fully control the White Zetsu, Madara decided not to rely on them at all for this trip—he sent them all away.
However… while the White Zetsu obeyed his orders, they secretly reported the matter to Uchiha Kei, allowing him to learn in advance.
Thus, Uchiha Kei was aware of Madara's every move.
About to meet one of the most popular characters in the Naruto world, Kei felt some stirrings inside—but not much. After all, he had met plenty of famous people already; one more Madara wouldn't change much.
Besides, Kei had long since been scheming against Madara, playing the Shinobi Shura like a fiddle. The old man didn't even realize he'd been maneuvered into place, still thinking he was the one controlling everything from the shadows.
Thinking about this, Kei couldn't help recalling a classic scene from Tom and Jerry, where Jerry looked at Tom as if he were a pet cat, then pitifully remarked, "Poor Tom, played right into my paws."
Some images just had that kind of magical quality—you could never quite look at them the same way again.
Under such circumstances, Kei began to look forward to Madara's method of meeting him.
After all, with Madara's personality, he definitely wouldn't just come quietly—he'd pull off some kind of flashy stunt.
Kei wanted to see exactly what Madara would come up with.
If the old man's stunt was interesting and didn't endanger Kei's friends or loved ones, Kei wouldn't mind playing along.
On the other hand, if Madara went too far, Kei would make sure he learned the meaning of a real surprise.
And so, Kei settled in to wait, expectant. He also told those around him to stay calm if any trouble arose, and to cooperate with the old man a little—upholding the fine virtue of respecting the elderly and caring for the young.
While everyone was a bit worried—this was Uchiha Madara, the former Shinobi Shura, who could still wipe out the Root in the Hidden Leaf with ease even in old age—when they thought of Kei's past feats and his insane, utterly uncounterable abilities, they realized it was Madara's dignity they should be more concerned about.
After all, if the great Uchiha Madara ever experienced the various "flavors" of the Great Intestinal Taste Technique, his career as the Shinobi Shura would be over.
So, regarding this operation and the upcoming meeting, everyone agreed to actively cooperate and looked forward to the result.
After all, Madara hiding in the Hidden Leaf for so long had long ceased to be a secret among Kei's inner circle. They had always seen him as a sword of Damocles hanging over them.
Now, with a chance and a plan to deal with him, they naturally hoped to settle it once and for all.
