Valyrian steel cut through iron like butter—how could the Naga, with flesh not even as tough as a dragon's hide, possibly withstand it? Drogo, blessed with godlike strength, drove his curved blade into the seam between the sea dragon's head and its fin-like wings.
"SKRAAA!"
The sea dragon howled in pain, lightning arcing violently from the wound. The discharge burned across Drogo's entire body, but through sheer force of will, he held fast.
"ROAR!"
Crackling with electricity, Drogo bellowed to steel himself and, seizing on Drogon's downward dive, yanked the blade down with all his might, tearing open a grotesque, yard-long gash!
The sea dragon was far too massive to know where its vital spot lay, so the khal carved open every part he guessed might be its weak point.
He wanted to dismember the beast right then and there—but the Naga, driven mad by pain, lashed out in a frenzy. Its monstrous, terrifying head lunged down, attempting to swallow him whole.
The momentum of its charge was immense, and the proud Sea Princess Haixi, riding on the beast's back, was flung into the air like a kite. If her hands lost their grip on its horn, she'd be blown away like a severed kite string.
The creature was severely wounded. Blood, a haunting mix of red and blue, sprayed into the sea below, staining the water crimson. Yet the stone-hearted mermaid still scolded her pet:
"You knew this would happen—why did you challenge him in the first place!?"
Having tangled with Drogo for so long, victory within reach, Haixi blinked her icy eyes and sneered, all her frustration vanishing:
"Die, you miserable insect. Die!"
In that moment of lightning and fury, Drogo no longer commanded his black dragon to breathe fire. He knew—when a beast goes mad, it knows no fear.
SHINK!
The Father of Dragons drew his blade and sliced through the belt that bound him to his child, letting himself plummet like a falling star into the sea.
At the brink of death, Drogo chose not to let Drogon perish with him. Better one die than both. The sea dragon wanted him, not the dragon. Men are selfish by nature—except when it comes to their children.
But the furious Naga dove even faster. Within two heartbeats, it had caught up and swallowed him whole.
GLURK!
Weakened, the sea dragon could barely keep the prey in its mouth. It used the last of its strength to clamp its jaws tight.
Because its neck had been slit, the beast couldn't risk the usual method of consuming prey—it might lose him.
SCREECH!
The familiar scent vanished. Furious, the green and black dragons shrieked and dove, biting savagely despite the Naga's thrashing.
The sea dragon's jaws could crush anything. Watching it, Daenerys collapsed onto the deck, despairing:
"No… my Sun and Stars…"
"Khal! Your Grace!"
"Fire the scorpions!"
"Hurl the firestones!"
Whether it would help or not, Drogo's warriors gave their all for vengeance.
Anything with the slightest killing power flew in terrifying arcs toward Haixi and her beast.
Arrows and flaming rocks rained down, but as soon as they struck the Naga's gliding body, they slid off uselessly into the depths—no effective secondary damage at all.
Still high on the thrill of the kill, Haixi grew enraged:
"Arrogant ants! You dare challenge the dignity of the Princess of the Endless Sea? Then you shall all die with him!"
"Wild Vetch! Destroy every ship on the sea!"
The Naga never disobeyed her. But its wounds were too grave—it no longer responded to her will. It faltered in the air, its wings barely able to keep it aloft.
It was a command beyond its strength. The mermaid, finally, had a pang of guilt.
"You are timid and weak—but your life still has value. Let me ignite your flame and grant you the honor due the Naga line."
Hearing this, the dying sea dragon's spirit flared up. Pain and joy surged through it.
It wanted to roar, to vent its elation—but feared its broken teeth would tumble into the sea.
Haixi cast a contemptuous glance downward and prepared to ignite the dragon's inner fire with sorcery—but suddenly her stomach chilled. A searing, alien pain overwhelmed her.
Looking down, she saw a blood-dark Valyrian blade driven deep into her abdomen.
"AHHHH!"
The pampered princess shrieked like a banshee.
Driven by instinct, she curled forward, releasing her grip on the beast's horn—and plummeted into the storm-wracked sea.
SPLASH!
The tortured sea dragon, numb from agony, instinctively shook off the object impaled in its skull.
Drenched in blood and mucus, Drogo held tight to his trusty Valyrian blade. Together with Haixi, he plunged into the ocean.
SPLASH! SPLASH!
Two great sprays erupted from the sea.
Dead or alive, the body must be found. Daenerys immediately ordered a rescue. Fired up with grief, Drogo's bloodriders rushed forward in fast boats toward the splash point.
It wasn't far, but the waves were still massive—it would take time.
SCREECH!
The black and green dragons circled above where their father had fallen, wailing mournfully.
Suddenly, sailors aboard the fleet cried out:
"Bloodriders, beware!"
Aggo and the others looked up—and their souls nearly fled their bodies. They jumped overboard in terror.
The massive sea dragon had fallen from the sky.
Faced with such a shadow of death, even a man who couldn't swim would instinctively choose drowning over being crushed.
"Help! Help!"
The Dothraki feared the sea more than anything. To them, it was hell itself. They flailed and screamed as the waves engulfed them.
BOOOOM!
The Naga crashed into the ocean like the sky itself had fallen, throwing up towering geysers and spreading ripples in all directions.
It sank, lifeless, into the depths.
The scene was too terrifying. Even the best swimmers dared not dive in. They could only watch helplessly as the bloodriders vanished beneath the waves.
But Aggo and his men were lucky—the waves threw them back toward the ships.
Not only that—the greatest surprise of all—Drogo had survived. With his strong arms, he clutched the mermaid tightly, and together they surfaced.
COUGH COUGH!
Coughing up water, Drogo was hauled aboard with the help of sailors, alongside his bloodriders.
After catching his breath, he rose to finish the job.
Struggling upright, Drogo stared at the breathtaking beauty's face with eyes full of murderous rage. He raised his curved blade, aiming straight for her slender neck.
So many warriors had died because of her. He was beyond words.
She spoke, though, defiant even on death's door:
"If you kill me, the gods will curse you! My father will show you the cruelest death in the world—and everyone who knows you will die with you!"
SPIT!
Drogo spat bloody phlegm onto her face and roared louder than her ever could:
"I am Drogo! I bow to no one—not even the gods! No one is more arrogant than me!"
