Chapter 129: Momentum in the Making
Sunday, August 22, 2010
Sunday morning was quiet after the tough win against Preston. At Broadfield Stadium, the training pitches were still wet from Saturday's rain.
Niels pulled into the training ground and parked his pickup near the gate. He was still relieved about the victory, but his focus had already shifted to the upcoming away game at Notts County.
It was a chance to build real momentum or risk sliding backward.
The media reaction was a mixed bag. On Sunday, a radio pundit didn't hold back: "Crawley's win was lucky, just papering over the cracks. They're not fooling anyone in League One." It was a sharp jab that took some of the shine off the result.
But in Monday's local paper, a Crawley journalist pushed back: "One bad week doesn't define a team. League One isn't won in August." It wasn't a massive defense, but it was a nod to what Niels was trying to build. He knew the squad was ready to prove the critics wrong.
