''A Childhood Beneath the Desert Sky,,
Somewhere in the desert, the rustling of strong winds could be heard, while in the distance, the sound of bikes racing across the sand occasionally broke the silence of the vast landscape. Sunlight still stretched across the golden sands, yet despite the warmth of the sun, there was a strange coolness in the desert air.
Upon that golden sand, Ramish and Richer lay side by side.
They had been silent for a while.
Neither of them was in a hurry to go anywhere, nor did either of them feel the need to answer any questions.
They were simply looking at each other.
There was a kind of happiness on both their faces that seemed more visible in their eyes than it ever could have been through words.
Ramish smiled and said,
"Sometimes, Richer, there's so much joy in trying to be children again."
Richer looked at him with a faint smile.
"Most of the things you do are childish… but strangely enough, I like them."
Ramish's smile grew deeper.
"I knew you would enjoy all of this."
Richer did not answer.
He simply continued looking at the smile spread across Ramish's face.
Perhaps he liked this carefree side of Ramish.
Perhaps he liked the fact that Ramish could laugh and play without worrying about the world, and instead of hiding his happiness, he allowed himself to live it openly.
Suddenly, while still lying on the sand, Ramish stretched both his arms outward.
Sometimes he raised them toward the sky, then brought them down against his body. Sometimes he spread them to either side, and sometimes he pulled them together again.
Richer looked at him in surprise.
"Ramish… what are you doing now?"
Pretending to be completely serious, Ramish replied,
"I'm trying to become a butterfly for you. You should become one too."
Richer burst into laughter.
"Ramish, you've completely turned into a child here in the desert."
Looking up at the sky, Ramish said,
"Richer, there is always a child living inside us. We're simply afraid to let that child come out."
Richer's smile slowly faded.
He looked at Ramish.
Ramish continued,
"Maybe we don't do the things our hearts want because we're always worried about what people will say. Even when something makes us happy, doesn't hurt anyone, and isn't wrong… we still give it up simply because we're afraid of people."
He fell silent for a few moments.
"And perhaps, in doing that, we end up being unfair to ourselves."
Richer lowered his gaze for a moment.
Then he said quietly,
"Perhaps you're right."
He remained silent for a while, as though trying to arrange the many thoughts gathered inside him.
Then he looked at Ramish and said,
"Maybe you say all this because you don't care that much about what people think. You listen to your heart."
Ramish quietly watched him.
Richer turned his gaze toward the vastness of the desert.
"Maybe it's also because people don't know you that well. You're not someone who has thousands of eyes watching you all the time. You're not famous… so perhaps it's easier for you to live the way you want."
There was no trace of his earlier playfulness in his voice now.
"But for an actor… it isn't that easy."
Richer took a deep breath.
"On the outside, we may look incredibly free. People think that famous people can do whatever they want with their lives. But the reality is completely opposite."
His voice slowly became heavier.
"An actor wants to do so many things. Sometimes, he simply wants to live like an ordinary person. Without worrying about whether someone is taking a picture or what people might think… He wants to laugh, suddenly run somewhere without a reason, stand in the rain, play in the sand… but being famous comes with a price."
He closed his eyes for a moment.
"And that price has to be paid in the form of so many restrictions."
Ramish watched him silently.
For the first time, he realized how much exhaustion was hidden behind the carefree expression on Richer's face—the expression the world mistook for confidence and success because of his fame.
Ramish slowly reached out and took Richer's hand.
"Richer… we only get one life."
Richer looked at him.
"You shouldn't spend all of it living in fear of what people will say. Sometimes, you have to listen to your own heart too. You have to do the things that make you happy."
Ramish's fingers gently tightened around Richer's hand.
"Sometimes, you have to step outside the restrictions surrounding you and live a little for yourself."
Richer's eyes remained fixed on Ramish's.
He looked at him for a few moments.
Then he said softly,
"It isn't as easy as you think."
Ramish nodded with a faint smile.
"Yes… maybe it isn't easy."
He paused for a moment.
"But it isn't impossible either, is it?"
Richer remained silent.
Still holding his hand, Ramish said,
"Whenever you feel like doing something, tell me. I'll help you do it. For as long as you're here, whatever your heart wants to do… just tell me. We'll do it together."
Richer looked at him.
For the first time, a faint light appeared in his eyes instead of sadness.
He smiled and mischievously gathered a little sand into his fist.
"Oh? Then should I throw this at you?"
Ramish immediately scooped sand into both hands.
"Yes, absolutely!"
Before Richer could even understand what Ramish was planning, Richer quickly jumped to his feet and ran.
"Richer!"
Laughing, Ramish immediately ran after him.
"Richer! Wait, I'll teach you how to play with sand!"
Richer ran ahead while Ramish chased after him.
Their footprints appeared one after another across the desert sand.
Finally, Ramish lunged forward and caught Richer.
Both of them were breathing heavily.
Laughing, Ramish said,
"So, shall we throw sand at each other?"
Richer immediately raised both hands.
"No, no! We've already played enough. Not anymore."
Ramish laughed.
"Then come on. Let's throw the sand into the air together."
Richer looked at him in surprise.
"Really?"
"Yes. Why not?"
Each of them took a small handful of sand and, together, tossed it into the air.
The grains of sand sparkled beneath the sunlight as they scattered through the air.
For a few moments, it seemed as though the desert had drawn a beautiful curtain of golden dust around them.
Richer was still looking at the breathtaking sight in amazement when Ramish suddenly lifted him into his arms.
"Richer, spread your arms!"
Richer laughed in surprise.
"Ramish!"
"Spread them!"
Finally, Richer opened both his arms.
Holding him securely, Ramish slowly began to spin around.
The wind brushed against Richer's face. His hair moved freely in the breeze, and the smile on his face carried the carefree innocence of a child.
Ramish simply watched him.
At that moment, Richer did not look like a famous actor.
He looked like a man whom life had given so much to—and taken so much from.
And perhaps, for the first time, he was simply feeling like Richer.
After a while, Ramish gently lowered him back to the ground.
They stood facing each other.
Their eyes met.
There was happiness on both their faces, but behind that happiness, a quiet intimacy had also begun to take shape.
Ramish slowly placed both hands on either side of Richer's face.
Richer's breath seemed to stop for a moment.
Ramish's eyes remained fixed on his.
He slowly moved closer.
The distance between them began to disappear.
Richer looked into his eyes.
For one moment…
just one moment…
it felt as though the desert, the wind, the noise, and the entire world had disappeared from between them.
But in the very next moment, Richer suddenly stepped back.
He looked away and quickly said,
"Should… should we go for the bike ride, Ramish?"
Ramish watched him for a few moments.
Then a faint smile appeared on his lips.
He quietly nodded.
"Yes… let's go."
The two of them began walking toward the bikes.
But this time, there was not the same carefree ease in their steps.
Perhaps, in the vastness of the desert, two hearts were slowly moving closer to one another.
Perhaps love had quietly opened a door inside Richer's heart, but he was still afraid to step through it.
Or perhaps…
the tangled questions they had both been running from for so long were finally about to stand in their path once again.
