"What do you mean?" she asked, looking a bit puzzled.
"If your father actually killed his family....what would you do? Or, if your father is innocent and Zane was hurt anyway, how will you handle that? Someone has to bear the consequences."
For the first time, despite her churning desperation, words faltered on Selina's tongue. Trapped in the new dilemma, she realized she hadn't looked that far ahead.
She bit her tongue, terrified about the possibility that her father was a murderer, yet sickened by the thought of Zane seeking revenge on an innocent man.
Observing the conflict that was threatening to crush her friend, Annabelle said softly. "You don't have to decide now. Just take your time."
Forcing a faint smile, Selina whispered. "All I want is justice. Nothing else. I hope neither of them is at fault."
Selina didn't want more conflict and war.
She lowered her gaze to Annabelle's hand, squeezing hers, which strengthened her resolve against crumbling into fear.
