The door creaked open as Selina and Sean helped a staggering Annabelle into the quiet warmth of Selina's home. With Selina's arm wrapped around her waist and Sean supporting her back, they guided her inside, Annabelle's weight leaning heavily on their shoulders.
Sean let go of Annabelle while Selina helped the drunken woman to her own room since Selina didn't know her colleague's home address.
She eased the unconscious Annabelle onto the mattress and tucked a thick duvet over her. Once she was sure Annabelle was snoozing comfortably, Selina stepped back into the living room to find Sean still waiting.
He wasn't seated. His expression was etched with a lingering concern.
"How is she?" he asked as she approached.
"I think she'll be much better once she sleeps it off," Selina whispered, stopping at a respectful distance.
