The two dragons—one sea-blue, one red—circling above the high platform surrounded Kahn and Ty Lee in a graceful arc.
Ty Lee never imagined that the so-called two masters would actually be dragons, and she glanced at Kahn nervously.
But Kahn's attention was entirely locked onto the majestic creatures before him. His eyes shone with open amazement.
The two dragons spiraling together in the air tugged at something deep in his memory.
There was a strange familiarity in the rhythm of their movements… and then, suddenly, it clicked.
He stepped forward and struck the opening stance of the Fire Dragon Dance, performing the form entirely on his own.
And unbelievably, each movement he executed synchronized perfectly with the dragons' aerial motions.
So beautiful.
Ty Lee watched, mesmerized.
Kahn's fluid movements and the dragons' spiraling dance complemented one another flawlessly.
It looked like he was dancing with them—an inseparable pair, natural and harmonious, so breathtaking that it made one forget the danger surrounding them.
Ty Lee didn't know what this technique was, but she could clearly tell he was imitating the dragons' movements.
"...Exhale."
Kahn completed the last sequence and slowly breathed out.
Only now did he finally understand why this technique was called the Fire Dragon Dance.
It truly was a Firebending form built entirely around the posture of dragons in flight.
The name wasn't symbolic—it was literal.
As Kahn lowered his arms, Ty Lee snapped back to reality. At the same time, the judgment entered its final stage.
The two dragons ceased circling and landed to either side of the stone steps. Ty Lee's heart tightened, but before she could even move, their mouths opened—

"Ah—!"
Ty Lee screamed in despair, convinced she was about to die… but then a calm, amused voice came from right beside her.
"We're fine. Open your eyes and look."
"H-Huh?"
She opened her eyes cautiously—only to gasp in shock.
"Rainbow-colored flames…?"
The dragons' fire didn't burn them. Instead, the twin pillars merged, spiraling upward into a towering tornado of flame with Kahn and Ty Lee at its center.
But the fire wasn't red or gold—it shimmered in shifting, dazzling hues, like a rainbow come to life.
"So beautiful!"
Ty Lee couldn't help but exclaim again.
Kahn stared as well, but where she saw beauty, he saw something deeper—a revelation.
Fire is life. Fire is energy.
A faint inspiration flickered at the edge of his mind.
The flames did not touch them. They had passed the judgment.
When the fire dissipated and they descended from the platform, the Sun Warrior leader stepped forward.
"Congratulations on passing the judgment of the two masters. Young Spirit Bender, have you gained new insights into Firebending?"
"I think so… but it's very vague."
Kahn frowned, still lost in thought, trying to grasp the elusive understanding.
The leader nodded and continued gently, "Since you have passed, you may leave. But remember—our existence must remain secret."
"We will," Kahn replied solemnly.
Their goal here was complete.
Kahn was prepared to head straight toward Yonggu City, but Ty Lee suddenly asked.
"Can we look around a bit more?"
He blinked in surprise, then smiled. "Of course."
After wrestling with his thoughts for a long time, Kahn gave up on trying to grasp the missing idea and instead decided to relax, walking through the ancient ruins and enjoying the scenery.
Ty Lee, however, wasn't sightseeing at all.
Her gaze drifted repeatedly toward Kahn, remembering everything that happened today—how exciting and new it all felt. She had never experienced something like this before.
She looked at him again… and made up her mind.
"Kahn… I had so much fun experiencing all these interesting things with you today."
"That's good. I was worried you'd be bored," Kahn said casually, teasing, utterly clueless.
Ty Lee swallowed hard and blurted out:
"Kahn, I like you. Will you be my boyfriend?"
"…Huh?"
Kahn froze. He stared at her like he'd just misheard.
"You… what?"
"I said, will you be my boyfriend?"
Her voice was steady, her gaze firm—but the slight tremble in her tone betrayed how nervous she truly was.
Kahn, however, was completely overwhelmed.
What's happening?
How did things turn into THIS?
Ty Lee… said she LIKES me?
"Hold on, I'm confused. Why?"
Ty Lee took a deep breath and answered without hesitation:
"Because you're interesting, handsome, strong, and I enjoy being with you. I just… like you. What about you?"
"I…"
Kahn couldn't answer.
Because at that moment, another image surfaced in his mind.
Someone he spent every day with.
Someone who fought beside him.
Someone who understood him completely.
Someone he trusted.
Someone who had also confessed to him.
Her voice echoed in his memory—
Kahn, will you manage the Fire Nation with me?
Guru Pathik's voice echoed too:
You seem to have forgotten the most important question — do you like her?
I don't know.
Don't I?
The knot in his chest loosened.
After a long silence, Kahn finally said.
"…I'm sorry."
Three simple words, crushing in their weight.
Ty Lee's heart dropped. Tears welled instantly—but she refused to let them fall.
"Why? Is something wrong with me?"
"Because…"
Kahn's mind flickered back to the question:
Do you like her?
He returned to the present. Ty Lee stood there trembling, eyes wet.
He hesitated… but he couldn't lie.
"Because…"
"…I have someone I like."
Ty Lee froze.
The tears she'd been holding back spilled over at last.
Kahn felt something within him unravel—clarity rushing in like a breath of fresh air.
Yes. I like her.
"The person I like is Azula."
Ty Lee's entire world stopped.
Her tears halted mid-fall, as if even they were too shocked to continue.
Her mouth fell open.
"Azula…?"
But for the first time, Kahn truly smiled.
"That's right. The person I like is Azula."
