Chapter 80 - Conventions and Cosplay (Bonus)

Then, Kitagawa Marin concernedly asked Yuki some questions about anime or manga characters. Yuki also shared his preferences for characters from the anime and manga he had seen in this world. The two chatted happily, making Kitagawa Marin feel delighted inside. This feeling of finding a kindred spirit made her eager to invite Yuki to a comic convention.

"By the way, what does Yuki-san think about comic conventions?" Kitagawa Marin changed the subject and asked Yuki softly.

"Comic conventions?"

"Oh! In Japan, comic conventions have already become a cultural phenomenon."

"Like-minded people gathering to exchange ideas—I think it's quite good!" Yuki replied with a smile.

"Mhm mhm mhm! I think so too!" Kitagawa Marin quickly nodded emphatically.

"Hearing you mention comic conventions, Kitagawa-san, do you usually enjoy going to them?" After walking a few more steps, Yuki raised his eyelids slightly and asked.

"Uh... actually, I'm just curious about comic conventions; I haven't been to many at all," Kitagawa Marin said, scratching her head somewhat sheepishly when asked this by Yuki.

Although Kitagawa Marin was quite interested in cosplay at comic conventions, she truly hadn't been to a single one.

"I see!" Yuki nodded.

Naturally, Yuki already knew this. To be honest, comic conventions are a mixed bag. Some female cosplayers wear very revealing outfits for their characters and stand there being photographed by others. Frankly, if it were his woman, he definitely wouldn't accept it. As for Kitagawa Marin, Yuki naturally didn't want her to wear those character outfits and go get photographed by others either.

So, he had used his ability to learn that, so far, Kitagawa Marin indeed hadn't been to a single comic convention. She hadn't yet developed a liking for wearing cosplay to conventions.

"I've heard there are many people doing cosplay at comic conventions. Did you know that?" Kitagawa Marin then steered the topic toward the issue of cosplay.

Yuki calmly nodded, his face expressionless as he said: "I am aware of that, but I don't really like it."

"Ah?" Hearing Yuki say he didn't like it, Kitagawa Marin's heart jolted violently, and she immediately became tense.

"Mhm, don't misunderstand. It's not that I dislike cosplay itself."

"On the contrary, I really enjoy seeing pretty girls cosplay, especially someone like you, Kitagawa-san," Yuki quickly added.

"Eh?"

"M...Me?"

"Being praised! I'm a bit shy now!" Kitagawa Marin's cheeks instantly turned slightly red, her heart pounding.

Hearing this, Tobiichi Origami on the side quietly tugged at Yuki's sleeve, as if reminding him he'd forgotten something.

"Of course, Origami too," Yuki couldn't help but chuckle, then added another sentence.

"Mhm mhm, if Yuki wants to see cosplay, I'll wear it for you!"

"Ahem, I'm really looking forward to that!" Yuki coughed and replied seriously. Based on his understanding of Tobiichi Origami, her cosplay definitely wouldn't be the proper kind.

"Back to the main topic." Seeing Kitagawa Marin getting a bit anxious, Yuki quickly pulled the conversation back.

"What I dislike about cosplay is just the kind where people at conventions let others take pictures freely."

"After all, if it were my girlfriend wearing such a beautiful cosplay outfit, naturally, as her boyfriend, I'd want to be the only one looking."

"Why would I let other men take pictures of her in public?!"

"Kitagawa-san, do you think that sounds a bit selfish?" Yuki smiled and asked Kitagawa Marin in return.

Hearing this, Kitagawa Marin quickly waved her hands, shaking her head in denial: "No, no, no, not at all!"

"Actually, I think that's quite normal!" Kitagawa Marin secretly memorized Yuki's words. Since Yuki didn't like his girl wearing cosplay for others to see, then she just wouldn't wear cosplay to conventions.

She could find a chance for the two of them to be alone, then wear it just for him. Maybe there would even be an unexpected surprise! Thinking of this, Kitagawa Marin's heart fluttered, beating faster.

Yuki gave Kitagawa Marin a meaningful look. Knowing she had taken his words to heart, Yuki didn't say much more. Then, they chatted about other things. Kitagawa Marin also took this opportunity to add Yuki as a friend on social media.

Afterward, the three of them smoothly arrived at the school. Upon arrival, Yuki first had Tobiichi Origami and Kitagawa Marin return to the classroom. He headed toward the junior high section. After all, he still needed to ask for leave for his sister, Kotori.

The two girls watched Yuki walk away, then looked at each other, eye to eye.

"Um... what is Tobiichi-san's relationship with Yuki-san?" Kitagawa Marin tentatively asked.

"Of course, if my question is too sudden and offends you, I apologize."

"It's fine."

"I don't mind." Tobiichi Origami shook her head calmly.

"Bride, wife, spouse, girlfriend, bed partner, the one who-beep- and the one who get-beep-..." Tobiichi Origami stated calmly.

"Eh?" Hearing Tobiichi Origami's string of titles completely short-circuited Kitagawa Marin's brain. The ones at the front were relatively normal titles, but how did they become increasingly strange toward the end?! They even needed a censor bleep to be read out loud! Kitagawa Marin was utterly baffled.

"D-Don't joke around, Tobiichi-san, that's not funny at all!" Kitagawa Marin then reconsidered, completely convinced Tobiichi Origami was teasing her.

"I'm serious." Tobiichi Origami's eyes were filled with seriousness.

But the more she was like this, the less Kitagawa Marin believed her.

"Alright, alright! I believe you!"

"Let's go, let's head back to the classroom!"

Then, Kitagawa Marin was the first to step into the school building, not paying much attention to what Tobiichi Origami had just said. However, she was thinking to herself:

'Even though I didn't fully figure out the relationship between Tobiichi-san and Yuki-san, I still made some gains! I learned a bit more about Yuki-san and got his contact info! That's great! Tobiichi-san usually seems cold, but I never expected her to say something so shocking. I really never saw that coming!'

Then, the two returned to the classroom and went to their respective seats.

As for Yuki, after arriving at the junior high section, he quickly found the junior high faculty office. After asking Kotori's homeroom teacher for leave, he planned to return.

Just as Yuki stepped into the high school building's lobby, the class bell rang. Following the bell came hurried footsteps from behind and a girl's cry.

"Oh no! I'm out of time, I'm late!"

Hearing this, Yuki turned around and saw a golden figure rushing toward him. However, she was running very fast, and the moment she stepped onto the stairs, she misstepped. Her whole body suddenly pitched forward. In that instant, the girl's vision became the floor below, her pupils contracting. She instinctively closed her eyes.

Just as the girl thought she would fall heavily to the ground, she suddenly felt as if she had fallen into a warm place, enveloped. She slowly opened her eyes, looked up, and saw that extraordinarily handsome face looking down at her gently.

"Are you alright, classmate?"
