"Hey," Kaya barked, snapping the young scientist out of his trance. "Creepy kid. Look at me."
The technician flinched, peeling his face away from the glass and looking back at her, his eyes still wide with scientific euphoria. "M-my name is Dr. Elias, Boss."
"I don't care if your name is Einstein," Kaya said flatly, rubbing the bridge of her nose. "You said you can work the feeding tube. So do it. There is a stockpile of raw meat in the cold storage on this floor. Bring it here, put it in the tray, and feed the snake."
Elias nodded frantically, practically vibrating with excitement. "Yes! Absolutely! I will calculate the exact caloric intake required for a biological mass of this size—"
"And Elias?" Kaya interrupted, her voice suddenly dropping into a lethal, freezing tone that made the temperature in the room plummet.
