"Are you an idiot?" Mu Rongyun whispered, and Xiao Lin glanced back at him with a smile before stepping toward the woman at the door.
Hearing the noise behind her, the woman shrank to one side of the door, tearfully watching Xiao Lin's approach, shaking her head and making short, pleading sounds with her mouth, which he could hear clearly as he got closer.
"No, don't kill me!" The woman repeatedly uttered the same sentence, her eyes sometimes filled with grievance, fear, and sometimes a vacant stare.
Xiao Lin was very close to her, stopping almost in front of her, looking down at the woman crouched on the ground. "Ye Zi!" Xiao Lin called the woman's name.
The woman lifted her head, her bewildered eyes telling Xiao Lin she was confused by the name. "No, don't kill me!" Still the same words, she dropped her bag, hugged her head, and crouched there. For quite a while, she didn't move, and neither did Xiao Lin.
Feeling the woman's rapid breathing, Xiao Lin reached out his hand.
