Chapter 7 - Chapter 5: Shadows Of Doubt

A man approached her, asking, "Are you Miss Jayeon?"

Jayeon stood up promptly and replied, "Yes." then asked, "Are you the psychologist?" The person affirmed, taking a seat beside her.

Jayeon felt an instant sense of discomfort and subtly shifted closer to Doctor Stephen's seat. She thought to herself, 'Why am I feeling so insecure? Is there something wrong with him? I'm overthinking; it's nothing.'

The Psychologist leaned forward, his eyes locked on hers. "Why are you keeping your distance? You need to be close to me so I can treat you effectively." He patted the seat beside him, his gesture seeming almost insincere.

Jayeon hesitated, choosing to remain in her original seat. "I hope this will only involve answering a few questions?" she asked, trying to sound calm.

The psychologist's smile seemed to hide underlying intentions. "No, I need to monitor your pulse rate while you respond. If you won't come near me, I'll have to come to you." He abruptly moved beside her, his hand brushing against hers in an unsettling manner.

She holds his hands and removes it form hers maintaining her formal smile.

Jayeon's mind screamed,'This isn't a good touch Jayeon. He is not a nice person to deal with.' Fear crept into her thoughts, despite her attempts to remain composed.

"Don't be scared, my dear... it's all part of my job." The psychologist reassured, his tone lacking genuine concern.

...

Meanwhile, Byung Hyun was taking an afternoon break from his dance practice, lying on the floor. Suddenly, he heard a faint voice of a girl, 'This isn't a good touch Jayeon. He is not a nice person to deal with.'

He glanced around, but there was no one nearby. Realization dawned on him - he had heard the voice in his mind. 'Itis a very familiar voice. This voice... It resembles like of hers. Is it hers?'

The voice was familiar, reminiscent of someone he knew. "Is she alright?I hope she's not in danger and all her voice that I hear is just my overthinking ." Byung Hyun asked aloud, his tone laced with worry and sorrow.

...

Jayeon stood up, her voice firm. "Enough... I don't want to be treated by you."

The psychologist's face twisted in anger. "You dare to insult me?" He raised his hand, ready to strike. Jayeon prepared to defend herself, but before the psychologist could land a blow, his hand was caught, and a swift kick sent him to his knees.

Jayeon turned to see who had intervened, and her eyes met Doctor Stephen's. "Are you alright?" he asked, his expression concerned. Jayeon nodded, still shaken. Doctor Stephen quickly called the police and handed the psychologist over to the authorities.

Jayeon's curiosity got the better of her. "When did you call the police?"

Doctor Stephen explained, "Myfriend had warned me about the psychologist's suspicious behavior. He wasn't available to come today, so he informed me early this morning. Since you were keen on visiting the psychologist, he arranged for one of his colleagues, an expert in treatment, to be present."

Jayeon sought clarification. "So, he isn't your friend, but rather your friend's colleague?" Doctor Stephen affirmed, "Yes... I apologize that you've had to endure so much. Trust me, we didn't want you to be in danger."

Jayeon's eyes narrowed, her mind racing. '"...Trust me...?" these words sound familiar. Where have I heard them before?' She repeated the phrase, trying to jog her memory. Suddenly, a sharp headache struck, forcing her to clutch her head and sit down.

Whispers in an unfamiliar language echoed in her mind, spoken in a male tone: '"No, you can trust me. I'll never break your trust."'

Jayeon's voice trembled."This language... what language it is?"She continues,"How can I understand the language...?" Jayeon stumbled with her words.

Doctor Stephen's expression turned puzzled, his eyebrows furrowed in concern. "What are you talking about? What language?"

Jayeon shook her head, her eyes clouded with confusion. "I too...I don't know either..." Her hands trembled as she accepted a glass of water from Doctor Stephen, hastily drinking from it. The cool liquid seemed to calm her nerves momentarily.

"Shall we head home?" Doctor Stephen suggested, his voice gentle.

Just then, the psychologist reappeared, his eyes fixed on Jayeon with an unnerving intensity. "There's more than you want to know... memories you've missed, and no one can help you uncover them except me." His voice sent shivers down Jayeon's spine.

The police promptly returned, apologizing for the inconvenience, and escorted the psychologist away. Jayeon trailed behind them, her determination evident.

Doctor Stephen called out to her, but she ignored him, her focus solely on the psychologist. He followed her instead, his eyes fixed on her rigid back.

As she stopped in front of the police car, Jayeon spun around, her eyes blazing with outrage. "What do you mean by 'no one can help you uncover them except me.'?"

The psychologist winced, rubbing his ear, a sly grin spreading across his face. "Am I inaudible, or are you deaf?" He sneered, his hands clasped together in a mock prayer. "No one can help you uncover them except me, and for me to help you, I need to touch you with my..." His palms came together, forming a cup, as a menacing chuckle escaped his lips."...this hands...hehehe..." And an errie sound of laughter was heard from his mouth. The sound sent shivers down Jayeon's spine.

The police swiftly intervened, dragging the psychologist away. The eerie sound of his laughter lingered, fading into the distance.

Doctor Stephen approached Jayeon, concern etched on his face. "Are you okay?" However, Jayeon seemed lost in her own thoughts, oblivious to his words. Her eyes stared into the distance, her mind reeling with the psychologist's ominous words and was already lost in her own world unable to hear Doctor Stephen words.

Stephen gently placed a hand on her shoulders, his touch warm and reassuring. "Sorry, I didn't mean to ignore it. " Jayeon responded,"What were you talking about?" . Instead, she shook her head, her eyes refocusing on Doctor Stephen. "Nothing, let's head back. We've had enough for today." Her voice was barely above a whisper, her shoulders sagging in exhaustion.

Doctor Stephen nodded in agreement, his eyes filled with understanding. "Yes, let's head back. I'm exhausted too."

He guided Jayeon away from the police car, his hand still on her shoulder, offering a comforting presence. As they walked, Jayeon's thoughts lingered on the psychologist's words, "...no one can help you uncover them except me..." a sense of unease settling in the pit of her stomach.
