Kael's eyes remained fixed on the scene as the memories of the novel slowly resurfaced in his mind. He knew what would happen next, he knew the outcome, and he knew who would arrive to save them. For a moment, he simply stood there, almost convincing himself to wait and let everything unfold naturally. After all, this event had already happened once in the story, and if he stayed out of it, perhaps everything would continue exactly as he remembered.
This was how the story was supposed to happen.
But then, something caught Kael's attention. His eyes narrowed slightly as he looked over the scene again, a strange feeling appearing in his heart. Everything in front of him felt familiar, yet something was different. As his gaze moved across the bandits, he quickly noticed that their numbers were not the same as he remembered from the novel. There were more of them than there should have been.
