Chapter 5 - The Surrender-1

The Choice That Changes Everything

Kael stood at the center of the battlefield, surrounded by elite Hunters of the Strongest Association. The cold steel of their weapons gleamed under the artificial lights, their gazes locked onto him with a mixture of fear and hostility.

He could feel it—the suffocating tension, the weight of countless eyes watching his every move.

Cain stood in front of him, blood dripping from his lips. His once unshakable stance was now slightly unsteady, but his eyes burned with unwavering determination.

"Run, Kael."

Cain's voice was hoarse, but firm.

Kael's breath hitched.

"You don't stand a chance against them. Go—run as far as you can!"

Kael clenched his fists. Every fiber of his being screamed for him to stay, to fight alongside Cain.

But deep down, he knew—Cain was right.

If he stayed, he would only slow Cain down.

He had no choice.

Kael inhaled sharply and turned on his heel, sprinting away from the battlefield.

Behind him, the war began.

---

The Strongest vs. The Association

Cain moved the moment Kael ran.

The ground cracked beneath his feet as he lunged forward, striking first.

BOOM!

A shockwave tore through the air as Cain's fist collided with the leading Hunter's blade, shattering it on impact. The force sent the Hunter flying backward, crashing into a building.

The rest of the elite forces reacted instantly, launching a coordinated assault.

Dozens of weapons glowed with energy, moving like streaks of light toward Cain.

But he was faster.

Cain dodged, weaved, and countered with devastating precision. His strikes sent bodies flying, his movements a blur too fast for the human eye to track.

He was holding back.

Even as he tore through the ranks of Hunters, Cain wasn't fighting to kill. He was fighting to stall.

He needed to buy Kael time.

But the Strongest Association wasn't called the strongest for nothing.

A shadow flickered behind him.

Cain's eyes narrowed—too late.

A devastating force slammed into his back.

BOOM!

Blood splattered across the ground as Cain was sent hurtling into the ruins of a collapsed building. The impact sent dust and debris flying into the air.

From the smoke, a single figure emerged.

The Strongest Hunter had arrived.

The Breaking Point

Kael ran through the desolate streets, his heart hammering against his ribs.

He didn't know where he was going.

He only knew he had to get away.

But just as he reached the edge of the city—

A sudden, crushing pressure filled the air.

Kael stumbled, his knees nearly giving out under the sheer force of the energy radiating from behind him.

His head snapped back toward the battlefield.

And what he saw made his blood run cold.

Cain—on his knees.

Blood pooled beneath him, his arms limp at his sides. His body was battered, broken.

Standing over him was a single man.

The Strongest Hunter of the Association.

Kael felt his chest tighten.

No.

Cain—couldn't lose.

Cain had always been invincible. Unstoppable.

Yet now, he knelt in defeat.

Kael's body refused to move.

A voice whispered in his mind.

"Run."

"Cain told you to run."

But another voice roared louder.

"You can't leave him."

"Not like this."

Kael's fists clenched so tightly that his nails dug into his skin. His breath came in ragged, uneven gasps.

Then—

Cain collapsed.

Something inside Kael snapped.

---

The Forbidden Power

A pulse of energy rippled through the air.

The sky above darkened.

A deafening silence filled the battlefield as everyone turned toward Kael.

His body trembled. His mind blurred.

For the first time, he wasn't thinking.

He was feeling.

And all he felt—was rage.

The air around him distorted.

A deep, ominous crack echoed through the sky.

And then—

The Gates opened.

A blinding light erupted from behind Kael. Two enormous, celestial doors materialized in the air—one shrouded in ethereal gold, the other in abyssal black.

The Heaven's Gate and Hell's Gate.

A power that should not exist.

A power that defied the very laws of the world.

And Kael—instinctively—took it.

Golden and black energy surged into his body. His veins burned with divine fire and hellish darkness. His muscles felt like they were being torn apart and rebuilt at the same time.

He could feel everything.

The air. The earth. The very fabric of reality.

And at the center of it all—

His power.

A power that could stop monsters.

A power that could end the apocalypse.

And in that moment—Kael was no longer just human.

He was something more.

---

The Turning Tide

The Strongest Hunter stepped forward, eyes narrowing.

"You—"

But he never finished his sentence.

Kael moved.

BOOM!

A single punch shattered the ground, sending shockwaves through the battlefield. The earth cracked beneath his feet.

The Strongest Hunter barely had time to react before Kael appeared before him.

Fast. Too fast.

A fist wreathed in golden and black flames collided with his chest.

The impact sent him flying through multiple buildings, the sheer force shaking the entire city.

Gasps echoed through the ranks of the Association.

This wasn't normal.

This wasn't possible.

Kael stood in the aftermath, his eyes glowing with twin lights—one gold, one black.

His chest heaved with each breath, his body struggling to contain the power surging through him.

He wasn't invincible.

He wasn't a god.

But in this moment—

He was something that even the Strongest Association had never seen before.

A human with a power that should not exist.

A power capable of changing the world.

And for the first time—

The Association was afraid.

The Shadow Behind the Power

Far away, in the depths of the unknown, a pair of crimson eyes watched.

A voice, ancient and unreadable, murmured in the darkness.

"The Gates have opened."

A pause.

"So… he has awakened."

A low chuckle.

"This will be interesting."

The voice faded into the void.

And somewhere, far beyond mortal understanding—something stirred.

A presence long forgotten.

Watching.

Waiting.

For the moment Kael loses control.
