The Chains of Judgment
Kael knelt on the cold steel floor, golden chains wrapped tightly around his wrists. The courtroom of the Strongest Association loomed around him, a grand yet suffocating chamber filled with the most powerful Hunters in the world. Their gazes bore into him, some filled with suspicion, others with fear.
He could feel it—the weight of their judgment pressing down on him.
"You claim you are not a threat," the strongest Hunter, leader of the Association, spoke from his elevated throne. His voice was firm, controlled. "Yet you wield a power no human should possess."
Kael clenched his fists. "I didn't ask for this power."
"And yet you have it," the Hunter countered. "Prove to us that it will not bring destruction."
Silence filled the chamber. The weight of expectation settled on Kael's shoulders.
They needed proof.
So he gave it to them.

The Heaven's Gate Opens
Kael closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. The chains around his wrists hummed with suppressive magic, but he focused beyond them—on the power that lay dormant within him.
He reached for Heaven's Gate.
A faint golden glow flickered at his fingertips. The air trembled.
A soft hum resonated through the chamber as a small, barely visible crack of light appeared in the air before him. It was weak, unstable, but it was there.
The Hunters tensed. Some reached for their weapons.
Kael ignored them. He wasn't doing this to fight.
He was doing this to prove he wasn't their enemy.
From the thin opening of the Gate, a warm light spilled out, carrying a gentle, soothing energy. The room filled with an almost divine presence, and for a moment, the crushing tension eased.
Then Kael directed that energy outward.
Across the battlefield outside the Association's headquarters, the wounded groaned in pain, victims of the battle against Cain. Some lay unconscious, others on the verge of death.
The golden light surged, spreading through the air like mist.
One by one, the injured gasped as their wounds began to close. The unconscious stirred. The dying breathed again.
The battlefield, once filled with suffering, was now bathed in healing light.
Inside the chamber, the Hunters watched in stunned silence.
Kael exhaled sharply, sweat beading his forehead. His body trembled from the strain. He had barely managed to open the Gate, and already he felt drained.
He looked up, meeting the leader's gaze. "Does this look like destruction to you?"

The Decision
The chamber was silent.
The strongest Hunter studied Kael, his expression unreadable. Then he rose from his throne, stepping forward.
The chains around Kael's wrists loosened.
"You are not a monster," the Hunter said at last. "But you are not like us, either."
Kael's fingers twitched. "Then what am I?"
The leader's gaze darkened. "That remains to be seen."
With that, he turned to the council. "For now, Kael Velcrow will not be executed. He will remain under the Association's watch."
Kael's breath steadied. He wasn't free.
But he was alive.
And for now, that was enough.

A Silent Promise
As the Hunters dispersed, Iria rushed to Kael's side, her expression filled with relief.
"You really scared them," she said, a small smirk on her lips.
Kael chuckled weakly. "Good."
Cain, still bandaged but standing, gave him an approving nod. "Not bad, kid."
Kael sighed, looking down at his hands. He had proven he wasn't a threat.
But he had also proven something else.
He was different.
And now, the world was watching.
