Aralyn's POV
I was so scared that I couldn't even get out of bed.
The nightmare had been one of the worst things I had ever experienced, and considering the kind of life I had lived before coming to Shadowvale, that was saying something. Even now, hours after waking up, I could still remember every terrible detail with perfect clarity. I remembered the darkness that stretched endlessly in every direction. I remembered the smiling faces that weren't really faces at all. I remembered fake Elyra and that horrible smile splitting wider and wider across her face until it became something unnatural.
Most of all, I remembered the shadow, the thing waiting for me in the darkness, the thing that kept telling me to join it. Every time I closed my eyes, I could still hear its voice whispering in my ears, and the memory alone was enough to make my stomach twist into knots.
