Chapter 1 — The Name of the Storm

Long before Midgard would tell stories about gods walking among mortals, long before heroes would gather beneath the banner of the Avengers, and long before the Infinity Stones would threaten the fate of the universe, Asgard stood proudly above the Nine Realms.

Its golden towers rose toward the heavens. The Bifrost connected distant worlds. Warriors trained beneath the watch of ancient statues, while smiths forged weapons that could change the course of wars.

And within the royal palace, on a quiet day that seemed ordinary to everyone outside its walls, something happened that would eventually change the destiny of the Nine Realms.

A child was born.

The youngest son of Odin and Frigga.

Outside the royal chamber, Thor paced from one end of the corridor to the other.

He had already walked the same path so many times that even the guards were beginning to notice.

Loki leaned against one of the great pillars, watching him with growing amusement.

Finally, Loki spoke.

"Are you planning to conquer the corridor?"

Thor stopped.

"What?"

"You have marched past me seventeen times."

"I am waiting."

"I noticed."

Thor frowned.

"Our mother is giving birth to my little brother."

"Or sister."

Thor turned toward him.

"A brother."

"You don't know that."

"I do."

Loki raised an eyebrow.

"How?"

Thor crossed his arms.

"I simply know."

Loki gave him a faint smile.

"Your confidence continues to impress me."

Thor looked toward the chamber.

"Do you think he will be strong?"

Loki shrugged.

"Perhaps."

"He will be a warrior."

"Perhaps."

"He will train with me."

"Perhaps."

Thor narrowed his eyes.

"Do you have anything useful to say?"

Loki smiled.

"Not particularly."

Before Thor could answer, the doors opened.

Odin stepped out.

Both brothers immediately straightened.

Thor's impatience disappeared.

"Father?"

Odin looked at his sons.

"Your mother is well."

Thor released a breath.

"And the child?"

Odin's expression softened.

"Healthy."

Thor's face immediately brightened.

"A boy?"

Odin nodded.

"A boy."

Thor smiled.

"A brother."

Loki's expression also softened.

"May we see him?"

Odin stepped aside.

"Come."

The brothers entered the chamber.

Frigga rested peacefully against the bed, the newborn child held carefully in her arms.

The room was quiet.

Thor, who had faced warriors twice his size without hesitation, suddenly became uncertain.

He looked at the tiny child.

"He is... very small."

Frigga smiled.

"He has only just arrived."

Thor slowly stepped closer.

Loki followed.

The newborn slept peacefully.

His tiny hand moved slightly.

Thor looked at Frigga.

"Can I hold him?"

Frigga smiled.

"Carefully."

Thor looked almost offended.

"I know how to hold a child."

Loki quietly said, "You have never held a newborn before."

Thor glanced at him.

"I can learn."

Frigga carefully placed the child into Thor's arms.

Thor froze.

For several seconds, he didn't move.

The mighty young prince of Asgard looked down at his newborn brother as though he were holding something more precious than any weapon in the royal armory.

The child opened his eyes.

Thor smiled.

"Hello."

The baby stared at him.

Thor's smile grew.

"I'm your brother."

Loki watched the scene quietly.

Then he stepped closer.

"He has your stubborn face already."

Thor looked offended.

"He cannot even speak."

"That has never stopped you from being stubborn."

Frigga laughed softly.

Thor carefully handed the child back to Frigga.

Then he looked toward Odin.

"What will we name him?"

Odin looked at Frigga.

"We have not decided."

Thor blinked.

"You haven't?"

Frigga smiled.

"We wanted to wait until we saw him."

Thor looked at his brother again.

"Then we should choose a strong name."

Loki sighed.

"Of course you would say that."

Thor turned.

"What is wrong with a strong name?"

"Nothing."

"Then why did you say it like that?"

"Because I knew you would."

Thor folded his arms.

"Fine. What would you call him?"

Loki looked toward the child.

"A name with meaning."

Thor frowned.

"All names have meaning."

"Not all names have thought behind them."

Thor shook his head.

"Then let us hear your great wisdom."

Loki considered the child.

"Mimir."

Thor stared at him.

"Mimir?"

Loki nodded.

"Mimir is associated with wisdom and knowledge. A name for someone who might seek understanding rather than simply strength."

Thor shook his head.

"No."

Loki raised an eyebrow.

"You rejected it very quickly."

"Because he is a prince of Asgard."

"And?"

"He should have a warrior's name."

Loki smiled.

"Of course."

Thor ignored the sarcasm.

"What about Vidar?"

Loki thought about it.

"Why Vidar?"

"Strength. Endurance. A warrior who can stand against anything."

Loki looked at the newborn.

"That is more suitable."

Thor smiled.

"I knew you would agree."

"I said it was more suitable. I did not say I liked it."

Thor's smile disappeared.

"You just agreed with me."

"Temporarily."

Frigga laughed again.

Odin remained silent.

Thor began thinking.

"What about Gunnar?"

Loki shook his head.

"Too ordinary."

"Ragnar?"

"Too aggressive."

"Ulf?"

"Too much like the name of a wolf."

Thor frowned.

"What's wrong with wolves?"

"Nothing."

Thor looked at him suspiciously.

"You are doing that thing again."

"What thing?"

"Making my suggestions sound foolish."

"I don't have to make them sound foolish."

Thor stared at him.

Frigga tried not to laugh.

Odin finally spoke.

"Enough."

Both brothers became quiet.

Odin looked at them.

"You both seek to name him according to what you believe he should become."

Thor looked toward the baby.

"He should be strong."

Loki answered.

"He should be wise."

Odin nodded.

"And perhaps he should be neither of those things simply because we expect it of him."

The room became quiet.

Frigga looked at Odin.

"You have a name in mind."

Odin nodded.

"There is one."

Thor waited.

Loki became curious.

Frigga smiled.

"What name?"

Odin looked at his youngest son.

"Rudra."

Thor repeated it.

"Rudra."

Loki quietly considered the word.

"That is an ancient name."

"It is."

Thor looked at Odin.

"Where does it come from?"

Odin turned toward the great window.

"From Midgard."

Loki's curiosity increased.

"Midgard?"

Odin nodded.

"Long before many of the kingdoms that now rule that realm existed, there were ancient peoples who preserved their knowledge through sacred songs and oral traditions."

Frigga listened carefully.

Odin continued.

"Among those traditions was the name Rudra."

He looked back at the child.

"It was a name associated with fierce storms, powerful winds, wild nature, and forces that could not easily be controlled."

Thor smiled.

"That sounds like a warrior."

Loki gave him a look.

"Let Father finish."

Odin continued.

"But Rudra was not simply a symbol of destruction."

Thor's smile faded slightly.

Odin's voice became thoughtful.

"The ancient traditions also associated Rudra with healing and protection. The same force that could be terrifying could also preserve life."

Frigga looked at the child.

"Fierce, yet protective."

Odin nodded.

"Powerful, yet capable of healing."

He paused.

"Destruction and renewal. Fear and compassion. The storm that tears down what has become broken, and the force that allows something new to rise."

Loki looked at the newborn for a long moment.

"That is a complicated name."

Odin smiled faintly.

"He may become a complicated man."

Thor stepped closer.

"Why choose that name for him?"

Odin looked at his son.

"Because I do not want his name to tell him what he must become."

Thor looked confused.

"Then what should it do?"

"Remind him that strength has many forms."

Odin placed a hand gently against the child's head.

"Perhaps he will become a warrior."

He looked toward Thor.

"Perhaps he will become a scholar."

Then toward Loki.

"Perhaps something neither of us can imagine."

Finally, he looked at Frigga.

"But whatever he becomes, I want him to understand that power is not only the ability to destroy."

Frigga smiled.

"It is the ability to protect."

Odin nodded.

"And to heal."

Loki looked thoughtful.

"I like it."

Thor looked at him.

"Really?"

Loki nodded.

"Yes."

Thor looked at the child again.

"Rudra."

He considered the name for several seconds.

"It sounds strong."

Loki smiled.

"And it does not belong to any one path."

Thor nodded slowly.

"Then I agree."

Frigga looked down at her son.

"Rudra."

She gently touched his cheek.

"Rudra Odinson."

The child opened his eyes.

For a brief moment, everyone in the chamber became silent.

His eyes moved from Frigga to Odin.

Then toward Thor.

Then Loki.

No one could explain why, but Loki felt something strange when the child looked at him.

Not fear.

Not confusion.

Awareness.

Only for a moment.

Then it disappeared.

Frigga smiled.

"Rudra."

Odin placed his hand over his son's small chest.

"Welcome to Asgard, Rudra Odinson."

Thor stepped closer.

"I will protect you."

Loki smiled faintly.

"And I will teach you to think."

Thor looked at him.

"I can teach him to fight."

"That is precisely why I said I would teach him to think."

Thor sighed.

Frigga laughed.

Even Odin smiled.

For a moment, there was nothing but family.

No wars.

No enemies.

No prophecy.

No future.

Only a newborn prince surrounded by the people who loved him.

None of them knew that the child in Frigga's arms would one day walk between worlds they had never imagined.

None of them knew that creatures unknown to Asgard would eventually call him their guardian.

None of them knew that his name would one day be spoken alongside dragons, legendary Pokémon, gods, heroes, and cosmic beings.

And none of them knew that something had already awakened inside him.

Something invisible.

Something waiting.

.....….......

That night, while Asgard slept beneath the stars, the newborn child rested peacefully in his chamber.

Then something happened.

A faint blue light appeared within his mind.

A voice without a body spoke.

[New Host Detected.]

[Integration: 1%...]

The infant could not understand.

He could not see.

He could not speak.

But somewhere deep within his soul, fragments of another existence stirred.

A world of strange machines.

A world of humans.

A world of creatures with incredible powers.

A world filled with something called Pokémon.

The memories were distant.

Broken.

Incomplete.

Then the System appeared again.

[Pokémon System Initialization.]

[Synchronization: 1%]

[Host Name: Rudra Odinson.]

[Race: Asgardian.]

[Age: 0.]

[Previous-Life Memories: Restricted.]

[First Partner Selection: Locked.]

The system paused.

Then one final message appeared.

[Future development will depend upon the Host's choices.]

The blue light disappeared.

Rudra remained asleep.

Outside his chamber, Asgard continued its peaceful night.

Odin did not know.

Frigga did not know.

Thor did not know.

Loki did not know.

The All-Father had just named his youngest son after an ancient force of storm, destruction, protection, and healing.

And deep within that child, another destiny had begun to awaken.

The name had been chosen by Odin.

But the person Rudra would become...

That would be his choice.
