At Rose's response, Caius withdrew his face from her chest and pulled himself upward so he could look at her. Despite the troubles they were facing and even the ones they were likely to face, he was so happy he feared he might explode from the sheer force of it.
He didn't think there was anything that could stand in his way with Rose beside him, and she proved that to him. She was so strong-willed and exuded so much strength that he couldn't help but be pulled in by her.
"I love you, my beautiful wife," Caius said as he held her gaze.
Rose smiled at him. He was so radiant even in the dark. She blushed a little at his words; they weren't even married yet, and he was already calling her his wife.
But she couldn't deny it had a nice ring to it. Perhaps she should call him her husband too.
She opened her mouth to speak, but Rose didn't get any words out before Caius leaned forward and kissed her. Rose closed her eyes as their lips met, feeling her chest tighten and expand.
