Rose frowned as Caius started to speak. She had expected it to be something about her, but it wasn't, and she could tell whatever it was, bothered him gravely. He not only took too long to speak, but she could feel his body temperature drop as she lay on him. He seemed to be in discomfort.
"What was it?" she softly asked.
She didn't care what it was, as long as he was willing to work through it with her, and she could tell he was. Everything he said didn't feel as though he said it to butter her up; she could tell he meant every word.
His hand on her back stopped moving, and Caius let out a sigh. "I don't know exactly. All I know is…" he paused again, doing his best to recount it without reliving it. "On the night of my father's death, Rylen drugged me and left me in Caira's room. I do not know what occurred. However, when I woke up, she was bare on the chair with a blanket over herself while I was completely naked. I put on my pants and rushed to you."
