Chapter 267 - Spider-Man: Into the Venomous Hunt

AN: New week, let's aim for the rankings. Gimme those powerstones.

Spider-Man: Animated Movie – Overview

The latest animated feature, Spider-Man: Into the Venomous Hunt, had fans buzzing the moment it hit theaters. In this movie, Spider-Man faces off against two of his most dangerous foes: Kraven the Hunter and the infamous Venom.

Alex's original plan was to make two separate movies, but he decided to join both plots and create a high-octane action plot with enough emotion to show the audience what's at stake and push Spidey to his limits.

The story dives deep into the psyche of both villains, with Kraven relentlessly hunting Peter Parker and Venom's twisted obsession threatening to destroy everything Spidey loves. The animation was nothing short of breathtaking—each swing through the city, each fight scene was meticulously crafted. The rich, dynamic colors brought the action to life, making every moment pulse with energy.

But the real kicker? The post-credit scene, teasing the Ends of the Earth storyline in animated form, sending fans into a frenzy. That snippet alone was enough to get the internet buzzing, leaving everyone eagerly awaiting the next installment.

By the time the movie had premiered, it had already made waves across social media, forums, and the most popular YouTube channels. Reviews were flying in from all directions, and people were loving it, or at least that's what the majority of the buzz suggested.

On YouTube:

"The Animated Spider-Man Movie Is an Absolute MASTERPIECE!"

"Wow. I don't even know where to start. The animation alone is worth the price of admission. But the Venom storyline? Seriously? They took a bit of a different direction with him, and I'm all in. 10/10 would watch again." — SuperFan95

The review was bombarded with likes, hitting over 1.5 million views by the second day. Channels like ComicBookGenius praised the movie's intricate fight scenes, with their fast-paced animation and emotional weight, calling it a turning point for superhero animation.

"Kraven and Venom: The Best Villains to Face Spidey?"

Others were more critical.

"The movie was good, but not great. Kraven was underdeveloped for my taste, and I feel like the Venom part was a bit rushed. The post-credit scene? Now THAT was a tease! If they're gonna keep doing that, they're gonna need to pick up the pace in the next one." — MovieNight99

This video had a much more divided comment section, with fans either loving it or feeling let down by certain aspects of the storyline.

...

On Reddit:

In the r/MarvelComics and r/SpiderMan subreddits, the buzz was palpable.

"Holy crap, the animation is insane." — UserSpiderFan123

"The visuals were everything. The way Spider-Man swung through the city? Epic. The fight with Kraven? On point. The movie felt like a comic book come to life. Bravo!"

One Redditor even went as far as saying, "If the visuals don't win awards, I'll be shocked."

Many praised the movie for its detailed world-building, its character arcs, and the way it stayed true to the heart of Spider-Man while expanding on the world of his enemies.

But not everyone was in love.

"Kraven was barely a threat, and Venom's storyline felt more like filler. I was expecting more depth." — Eternal_Grudge

This review garnered a lot of upvotes... Then came the hardcore critics and fans.

"Kraven was perfect in this movie. I mean, the guy is a narcissist through and through. Of course, he's obsessed with proving he's better than Spider-Man. The way they portrayed his hunting mentality, mixing it with his twisted honor code—chef's kiss. He's not some random guy just chasing after Spidey for fun. It's a hunt. He's the ultimate predator. You can't expect him to suddenly have a tragic backstory, right? He's already got a deeply flawed one in his obsession with being the best."

User: LethalVenomX

"Are we really going to defend Kraven as the 'ultimate hunter' here? I get that he's skilled and all, but that obsession was barely explored. They give him a few cool fight scenes, and that's it? He's just a narcissist who believes he's the best and we're supposed to buy into that? I get it. He's hunting Spidey. But come on. No depth, no real emotion, just Kraven for a kill the whole time. Where's the complexity? The emotional stakes? All that talk about honor and superiority, but it just made him come off like an overdramatic hunter with no real substance."

User: WebHead21

"No offense, but some of you guys are missing the point. Kraven's supposed to be this obsessive, narcissistic hunter. He doesn't need a tragic backstory for you to feel for him. His whole thing is about proving he's superior to Spider-Man. They nailed it! He's cruel, calculating, and believes in this weird sense of honor, especially when he's hunting his prey. I liked how they showed his struggle, not with Peter as a person, but with Spider-Man as a symbol of the greatest challenge. What more do you want from a guy who thinks defeating Spidey is his destiny?"

User: VenomIsLife

"Honestly, Kraven could've been so much more. All the talk about his 'honor' felt a little empty when they barely showed what makes him tick. Sure, he's obsessed with Spidey, but that was all surface-level. It felt like the movie just scratched the surface of who Kraven is, focusing way too much on the action and not enough on why he's so fixated. Like, yeah, the 'ultimate prey' thing is cool, but without a deeper dive into his psyche, it didn't land as hard as it should have."

User: MightySpiderFan

"Kraven's arc was fine. He doesn't need some tragic origin story. His obsession with Spider-Man is his tragedy. The whole point of Kraven is that he's this driven, larger-than-life character who wants to hunt the best, no matter the cost. He's not some deeply conflicted hero. He's not a victim. He's a narcissist, plain and simple. I think the movie did a good job showing that he's this guy who thinks he's doing the right thing, but deep down, it's all about winning and proving he's the greatest. His 'honor' is just a mask for his ego and pride. I loved it."

User: InsomniacLover

"But the way they showed him hunting Spider-Man in such a methodical way, with the mystic potions and all that? Now that was cool. I think people are missing the whole point here. Kraven's not a misunderstood anti-hero, he's a hunter. He's the predator, and Spider-Man is his prey. They could've dived deeper into his motivations, but I think the movie left that purposefully vague to keep him a little mysterious. He doesn't need a deeper emotional arc. He's just... Kraven."

User: MastermindXXX

"Kraven being the 'ultimate prey' was actually handled really well. But, for real, Venom stole the show. That guy is terrifying. The way he targeted Spidey's loved ones? That was brutal. It was way scarier and more personal than anything Kraven did. Venom's vendetta was all about destroying what Peter cares about, and that made him even more dangerous. It was a full-on attack on Spider-Man's heart. It hit hard."

User: SpideyGirl4Ever

"Venom was a highlight, no doubt. The personal stakes with him were insane. The real danger of Venom comes from how far he's willing to go to ruin Peter's life, not just beat him up. That's what made Venom terrifying in this movie."

User: TheKingofWebs

"Agreed. Kraven? Great concept, but the movie didn't dive deep enough into his obsession to make him a truly memorable villain. Venom, on the other hand? Pure evil. I was actually scared when he went after Spidey's loved ones. That was a whole new level of menace. But I don't think we should downplay Kraven's role either. He's still the ultimate hunter, and he made Spidey's life hell. That's what matters."

...

The debates about Kraven were far from over. Fans still fought over the decision to keep him one-dimensional, the hunt as his sole purpose, or whether he deserved a deeper backstory. Some defended the character for staying true to his narcissistic nature, while others felt his lack of depth made him fall flat compared to the more terrifying menace of Venom.

...

On Titan's Official Forum:

Fans on Titan forum were fired up, their posts a mix of high praise and constructive criticism.

"What an amazing movie! I'm blown away by the character designs and the fight choreography. Spider-Man never looked so real. I can't stop watching the scene where Venom and Spidey go head to head!" — SpiderManFanatic

"Big props to the animators and voice cast. They really brought these characters to life. But I agree with the Reddit folks. Kraven just didn't have enough of a backstory. It felt like a missed opportunity." — LethalVenomX

But it was the post-credit scene that really took over the forum.

"Oh my god, they're doing Ends of the Earth! I'm dying for the next one! Alex, you better bring the heat for that one." — TitanFangirl

The anticipation for the next film had people losing their minds, and several members on the forum were already speculating about how the animated Ends of the Earth storyline would be adapted. Would it feature the comic version of Sinister Six? Are they going to kill off Silver Sable? And many other questions...

Alex had truly set the stage for something monumental.

...

Critics Weigh In:

While the critics were mostly positive, there was still a lot of room for debate.

"A visually stunning film that redefines what we expect from superhero animation. However, the story lags in places. Kraven's hunt felt almost secondary to the Venom arc, which, while intense, lacked the emotional stakes we've come to expect from Spidey." — New York Times Critic

They praised the technical aspects, especially the cinematography and pacing of action sequences, but noted that the plot didn't quite match the level of the animation. Still, most agreed it was a solid entry in the Spider-Man franchise.

On the flip side, there were others who raved about the film's heart.

"Alex Wilson knows what he's doing. The animation, the voice acting, the blend of lighthearted fun and darker tones, it's a perfect Spider-Man movie. It's not perfect, but it's damn close." — The Hollywood Reporter

...

Inside Alex's Office

Later that night, in his sleek penthouse office overlooking the lights of New York, Alex leaned back in his chair, his arm around Rachel, who sat comfortably on his lap. She had a glass of wine in hand, and Alex had just finished scrolling through the reviews.

The soft glow of his desk lamp illuminated the two of them as they read, the tension from the past few months easing in the warmth of each other's presence. Rachel was the first to speak, her voice soft but amused.

"So, the fans are split. They love the animation, but the story's getting some heat. Kraven's kind of the weak link in this one."

Alex chuckled, taking a deep breath. "I knew there'd be some mixed reactions. It's always that way when you push the boundaries. I'm not surprised. No matter what you do, there will always be fans and haters."

He paused, scrolling further. "Venom, though... He's pulling in a lot of praise. That's the big one I wanted to nail."

Rachel raised an eyebrow, clearly pleased. "And the post-credit scene Ends of the Earth plot, you knew that was going to break the internet, right?"

Alex smirked, his gaze lingering on her. "I thought it might be fun to tease the fans a little. If they're excited now, they won't know what hit them when we actually start that adaptation."

Rachel laughed softly, leaning back against him. "You've got the world wrapped around your finger. I have to admit, you do know how to create a buzz."

"Let's check the box office," Alex said.

Box Office 2 days: 61.2 million.

He wasn't surprised. The fans were hungry, and they were more than ready to sink their teeth into anything Spider-Man related. And the earning was better than Spider-Man Christmas Chaos.

"That's impressive," Rachel said with a nod, swirling her wine.

Alex nodded. The movie's success had already made headlines, but it was just the beginning. The following week's estimate? An eye-popping 150 million. The studio was already preparing for the massive overflow of ticket sales, and Alex's phone kept buzzing with congratulatory messages. He couldn't help but feel a rush of satisfaction.

But that wasn't where the real money was.

Titan had already started to see a massive uptick in their sales. The Spider-Man tie-ins were flying off the shelves. Limited edition props from the movie, action figures, Spider-Man themed jackets, and even the exclusive Titan Spidey bikes, were now the hottest items on the market. Every kid, every collector, and every superhero fan had to get their hands on something.

The online store saw an immediate rise in traffic, with a sharp spike in Spidey-themed merchandise. People were buying everything: Spider-Man perfume, clothes, shoes, and the limited edition Spider-Man suit.

'Well, more money,' Alex thought. 'At this point, when he is the world's richest man, those numbers on the screen were just... numbers.'

Even more surprising were the sales of the new comics, which had only been out for a few weeks, had already sold out in multiple regions. The fans couldn't get enough. Alex had always known how to capitalize on fan enthusiasm, but this was a new level of frenzy.

The buzz was unrelenting.

Titan's warehouses were scrambling to meet the demand for Spidey-themed merchandise. Boxes of Spider-Man action figures, branded hoodies, and shoes were being shipped out at an unprecedented rate. A new batch of Titan exclusives was in the works, with designs for Spider-Man helmets, limited edition jackets, and other high-end collector's items hitting the production floor.

"Can you imagine the fans when we start rolling out the next wave of stuff?" Rachel murmured, glancing over the sales charts that were quickly filling up with record-breaking numbers.

Alex chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. "They'll lose it. But I need to keep them on their toes. Can't give them too much all at once. We've got to build the hype."

Rachel shot him a knowing look. "You and that damn strategy. Always playing chess while everyone else is just playing checkers."

Alex smiled, his eyes gleaming with the satisfaction of knowing he was always three steps ahead. "It's not my fault the world is just a little slow to catch up."

"Well," She closed the laptop. She took a sip of wine before kissing Alex and pushing the wine into his mouth as he drank and kissed her back. "Enough with the numbers and reviews. Let's go out for dinner tonight."

He pecked her lips. "And then a long drive?"

"I'd love that," She replied, playfully licking his lips.
