June 22, 1734, Human Common Calendar, the third day after Iris, the new queen of the Kingdom of Velys, invited the Imperial Regent into the capital for peace talks.
The kingdom's defenders around Seville lifted the martial law that had been in place for several days. Under certain conditions, merchant caravans from the surrounding areas were once again permitted to pass through the city gates and conduct trade related to the people's livelihoods.
No one knew exactly what Iris and Astrid had discussed in the royal palace that day, nor did anyone know whether this protracted war had truly come to an end. However, judging by the movements of the expeditionary army near Kelvis, they seemed to have abandoned the struggle for the royal capital.
The army's iron hooves had come to rest outside the city. A thin layer of snow had settled on the masts of the mana-powered airships, and some officers were even actively arranging for clergy from the reborn Church of Light to take over Kelvis.
