Jin was already moving before the window finished closing.
He didn't think. He just turned toward the direction the warning had come from, south, toward the edge of the forest where the trees gave way to the broken city, and ran. Across the courtyard. Past the silver tree. Toward the main building, where the back hallway would get him to the south gate faster than going around.
He nearly ran straight into Yerin.
She was coming out of the hallway, a cup of tea in her hand, her white hair loose over her shoulders. She'd seen the red window too. Jin could tell from her face.
"South," he said. "The edge of the forest. Where we came in this afternoon. Can you get us there?"
She didn't ask questions. She set the cup down on the windowsill beside her, turned to the nearest wall, and laid her palm flat against it.
