Lapras is a Pokémon with a high IQ, capable not only of understanding human language but also human emotions. Known for their peaceful nature, they rarely engage in fights. In the Pokémon world, before ships became common, dragons like Lapras were often used to transport people across the sea.
Considering that the largest bay spans six continents, it's already impressive to be able to breed Lapras there. At least Larry wasn't thinking about unrealistic Pokémon like Kyogre or Lugia. The water and ice abilities of Lapras effectively filled the gaps in Larry's team, helping him handle various situations more easily.
Gathering his thoughts, Larry turned to look at the sea, which had just been hit by three powerful attacks. This period was known for frequent giant waves, and even without the interference of yellow lion fish, the threat of those massive waves remained.
The rough waves gradually rose, forming a towering sea wall that stretched from sky to earth, moving steadily toward the ship. The semi-circular giant waves were intimidating, a natural disaster that made people feel small and helpless. This wave was even bigger than the last one caused by Morel.
"A giant wave? I don't think we can escape from here," Morel muttered, frowning as he chain-smoked cigarettes.
On the surface, it looked like he was just trying to calm his nerves, but in reality, he was using the smoke in a clever way. White clouds of smoke drifted out, settled on the plywood, and then moved toward the edge of the ship's hull. The smoke seemed to form a giant hand, pushing the ship sideways.
Under Morel's control, the ship shifted quickly, trying to escape the wave's path. Unfortunately, the attack came too suddenly, and without prior preparation, it was nearly impossible to avoid the wave completely.
Morel estimated that almost half of the ship's hull would be hit. Even if it didn't break apart, the impact would certainly make the ship uncomfortable.
Watching the enormous waves, Larry's lips curled into a slight smile as an exciting idea crossed his mind. He had wanted to try this tactic for a long time, and now he finally had the Pokémon to make it work. Meanwhile, Morel kept smoking relentlessly, producing more and more smoke to accelerate the ship's movement, doing everything he could to steer clear of disaster.
I wasn't sure if smoking so much would cause lung problems down the line. Or maybe the smoke never even reached the lungs and was just spit out right after being inhaled?
Suddenly, Larry took two steps forward and stood right at the edge of the ship, drawing the attention of several onlookers. "Are you going to take action?" someone asked.
"Yeah," Larry replied calmly. "This huge wave is probably just another wave. We can break through it easily."
Morel and Cluck shared the same thought, they expected Larry to act again and forcefully disperse the massive waves. But this time, they were wrong.
Suddenly, a flash of white light shimmered, sparkling like bright snowflakes, and a blue Nen beasts appeared on the sea. The moment Lapras showed up, the surrounding air seemed to cool down, giving everyone a refreshing chill.
Lapras lifted his proud head slightly and let out a soothing moan that floated softly over the water, sounding almost like a beautiful song coming to life. This Nen beasts was gifted in music, able to sing beautifully when in a good mood. He could also use sound-based abilities like Song of Death, Singing, and Loud Voice.
Warm sunlight filtered through the crystal-clear snowflakes, casting a gentle glow on Lapras and adding a touch of beauty to the scene. His soft voice reached the ears of several people, and the tension that had gripped them moments before suddenly eased, as if their souls were being cleansed.
"Is this... also your Nen beasts?" Morel asked in disbelief, touched by the sweet melody.
Lapras's appearance had surprised everyone. Morel suddenly remembered a legend he'd heard, Larry had countless kinds of Nen beasts, an endless variety.
Could it really be true?
"Yes," Larry confirmed, watching Lapras sing with a look of deep anticipation in his eyes. It was clear Lapras was in a great mood.
But Morel still wondered why Larry had chosen to release this particular singing Nen beasts now. The answer soon became clear.
As the huge waves drew closer, Lapras stopped singing and fixed his gentle, jade-colored eyes on them. Suddenly, his body began to glow with a layer of icy blue light.
To Morel and the others, that light carried an eerie chill, as if it could freeze anything in its path. Then, right in front of Lapras, an expanding path of ice formed, stretching out toward the massive waves.
In the blink of an eye, the massive waves froze solid, transforming into a stunning, giant ice sculpture. This was the work of the ice technique known as Absolute Zero. This move can deal a near-fatal blow by freezing opponents instantly, and if the user isn't an Ice-type Pokémon, landing the attack can be quite challenging.
Absolute Zero is undeniably powerful, able to freeze even huge waves effortlessly. This was exactly the kind of effect Larry wanted to try out: creating a giant wave frozen in time like a beautiful ice sculpture.
It reminded everyone of Aokiji's famous move in One Piece, where a rushing wave was suddenly turned into a solid block of ice. Bathed in the sunlight, the crystal-clear icy wave shimmered brilliantly, exuding a cold, dazzling glow.
Morel, who had been smoking, paused mid-puff, staring at the massive frozen wave with a stunned expression, his mouth slightly agape. Wisps of smoke still drifted from his lips, as if his mind had just been blown, and a strange mix of disbelief and amusement flickered in his eyes behind his sunglasses.
The reflection of the icy wave filled his pupils, and he stayed silent for a long moment. His reaction wasn't unique, everyone except Menchi, who had grown used to surprises after spending so much time with Larry, shared the same stunned look. The others mirrored Morel's amazement.
"It's not bad. It's beautiful," Larry said, looking over the sculpture approvingly. Lapras, the Pokémon responsible for the icy masterpiece, beamed with pride, gently tapping the water's surface with its fins and humming happily. Such a huge, rare frozen wave would score high even in a gorgeous competition.
Lapras was well-known in those circles, its ice skills allowed it to craft all kinds of breathtaking sculptures, and combined with its graceful posture and melodious voice, it was often a top contender. It was fair to say Lapras was both powerful and elegant. The only downside was that the ice sculpture couldn't last forever.
