Chapter 3 - System To The Test

CHAPTER 3

Through the array of potential magical abilities that everyone looked up to him for, he was also found to be quite brilliant for his age by those around him.

Though the world's system had changed, some normal human standards were still upheld; even if magic made things easier, the brains to use it were still most necessary.

Aspiring sorcerers were usually taken to schools especially made for them and were allowed the free will to choose their paths in life after a certain age.

For him, and children like him, everything starting from their childhood was different; they were offered education by their families and clansmen and only joined special sorcerer forces under the clan's or family's name.

He had soon turned five, and the expectations thrown at him had only increased; his magical training began sooner than most, and his physical progress was great as well.

Now standing aside his teacher, with his fist held out and a boulder in front of him, Megumi was currently undergoing his normal routine of daily physical training.

"Now then, Lord Megumi, let's see how far you can go today." The man said, turning his gaze towards him. "Your external development is taking quite a while, but I'm sure you'll get there someday."

Closing his eyes, he could feel the dark energy inside him swirling around. With a decent amount of concentration, he made it slowly flow towards his right hand and quickly sent a punch towards the massive boulder.

*Bang!*

The noise created by the punch was loud, but all it resulted in was a slight dent and a crack that was only about five centimetres in length.

His fist was fine, although it hurt a little, but his teacher was petrified with his gaze fixed on the boy; he was a mere five-year-old, and mustering that level of strength shouldn't have been possible even with magic.

Well, he just made it a reality…

"Well, I can see great growing potential in terms of physicality; maybe you'll even be the strongest in the art of Tai jitsu to ever live… Your talent is quite great, but you'll be in trouble if you're ever going to face off against long-range attack demons. Even sealing one would prove difficult."

'I see now, we've grown so close he actually considers it so. Who in their right mind would talk to a five-year-old in such a manner and expect him to understand,' he thought, shifting his gaze towards the man standing before him.

"Sure, and thanks for the lessons. I'll be trying my best as always, and then one day, I'll surpass you. That's a promise."

With that, he nodded his head slightly before the man and slowly walked away. He arrived in his room a while after that and sat on his bed.

Being the future head of the household, security was very tight around him; he had to provide reasons whenever he wanted to leave his courtyard and always had guards behind him.

That had been the case each time he walked around the clan either to simply enjoy the scenery or because he was simply feeling restless, but the undying gazes of other children never seemed to come to an end.

He had yet to find anyone within the same level of power as him to bind, and it seemed that it would soon turn into a problem if he didn't do so sooner.

Many of them were yet to awaken their external energy, and some were making little progress, but he needed someone he was sure was going to awaken and was yet to.

He was going to continue on his search that day and had a new place in mind: the clan's battle arts training dojo.

He was already well known to the dojocho and a few of the aspiring students as well; they were all inspired by his great talent and wanted to get as close as they possibly could to him.

Well, he couldn't blame them, though. A bunch of six-year-olds who saw him as an essence of inspiration and simply wanted to learn as much as they could.

Of course, there were a few who would whisper and gossip about how he was simply strong due to his lineage and full of pride, but a single stare was all it took to shut them up.

Though cute on him, those purple-plagued eyes of his could become anyone's greatest fear if viewed from the wrong angle.

He had just arrived at the dojo with his guards behind him as usual, and it seemed that the children weren't being put through any demanding tasks, unlike him.

Mastering the art of proper physical combat needed for situations was crucial in every sorcerer's life, but mastering those arts was a very tedious task.

With the constant flow of time prompting change, the prompts required for combat slowly changed to better suit those with the talent for godly physical prowess.

This though made it quite harder to learn, but once all the basics were noted, mastering it became easier with every stage passed.

He wasn't part of the ongoing meditation being led by a teacher while he was standing next to the dojocho.

He intended to do a personal interview with every student present, but they were already engaged in training, and even though he had the authority, it would be utterly disrespectful, and he would rather not interrupt them.

It took a while before their meditation was over, and it seemed that they were all taking a short break, during which most of them decided to do stretches.

"It seems that dark energy impacts not only physical but mental fortitude as well. The fact that six-year-olds are able to take this sort of training without any trouble is one hell of a miracle." He thought, staring intently at them.

He had gone so far in his training of innate dark energy, so much so that he was able to sense the dark energy inside people, at least enough to know who had better amounts than the other.

Other senses were still very difficult for him, so the detection of the motion of innate energy would be very difficult, if not impossible, for him.

After a while's worth of evaluation, he slowly walked forward, signalling the guards to stay behind as he approached one of the students at the other end of the room.

She had short red hair that was slightly patted to the side and alluring hazel eyes. Her skin was white and smooth. Compared to the other children in the room, she certainly stood out.

She wasn't involved in any practices like the others were currently, and unlike every one of them who saw him, she didn't seem to show any signs of concern.

"Good morning."

He was currently facing the wall and, although he heard her soft-sounding words, he decided to ignore her.

He could technically have her get punished if he wanted, but that didn't even cross his mind. She seemed like she wasn't ready for anything at that moment, and trouble was one thing he wanted to avoid.

"The art of the Inazuman sword has long since existed since the beginning of time. Crafted in the finest ways possible, they can be fitted into the arts of combat in the most crafty ways." He said, slowly moving his hand across the wall.

'Well, of course, they wouldn't let children this age use swords anyway. Even if superhuman, they still aren't capable of certain mentally taxing activities.'

He had gone on ranting like a madman with no one in particular being spoken to, but his actions had done well in drawing her attention.

"Hey… what the heck is your problem?" she asked, her gaze intently fixed on him.

"Oh…" he said slowly, slightly surprised as he turned to face her, "I almost didn't see you there. Forgive my digression. I was simply so engrossed in our dear nation's history that I forgot what was meant to be done here."

She simply heaved a sigh and turned away from him.

"Fine then, I'll go and see what history I can learn from the master… You seem quite refined in the arts yourself; perhaps I can learn a few things from you."

She turned towards him with a slight blink of her eyes at the offer he had just made; no one could turn a blind eye to how he had entered the room. Only royalty would be as luxurious as he was.

But her only blunder remained the fact that she didn't know who he was, so she bent all her actions around ignoring him as much as she could while trying not to get on his bad side.

Before she could go any further in thought, he slowly held out his hand before her.

"Well then, I suppose it's about time we both properly introduce ourselves. I know it's quite sudden, but please forgive my shortcomings."

The way he spoke and every last detail of his actions were captivating. Those shining eyes and his presentation—everything about him was simply mesmerizing, and she couldn't help but wonder what could have prompted his interest in her as she reached out her own hand.

Ding!
