Tang Li Yue's expression became blank.
The most dangerous kind of expression.
"Director Ma said that?"
The man hesitated.
Tang Li Yue reached toward the empty inhaler on the floor. "Did you take this?"
"He was using it too much. We needed to check whether the breathing problem was stress-related."
The room became very quiet. Even the guards outside had stopped moving, though Tang Li Yue knew that would not last.
The medical assistant looked at her and seemed to finally understand that he had said the wrong thing.
"I was following procedure," he said weakly. "I did not make the rules."
Tang Li Yue stared at him. Then she smiled. Not pleasantly.
"Some people are wise," she said softly. "Some are otherwise."
The medical assistant's eyes widened. He did not understand the insult.
That was fine.
He was not required to understand it.
