The radio crackled again.
Tang Li Yue stood beside the table with one hand resting near the folded map and the other curled around the cup of tea Lu Chengran had made for her. It was not terrible tea.
That was a dangerous improvement.
The static rose and fell for several seconds before a woman's voice came through. It was calm, professional, and just strained enough that Tang Li Yue could imagine someone reading from a paper while trying not to look frightened.
"Attention all survivors in the eastern and southern sectors. Qingyuan Emergency Base is opening a temporary registration station for individuals displaying unusual physical or elemental changes following recent fever symptoms."
The room went still.
The voice continued.
