With Greninja completing the defeat of Moltres, the battle between Chris and the Three Legendary Birds came to an end.

What's that? Where did Zapdos go?

Well, this particular bird had already had its Zapdos's Treasure taken away by Chris in advance, and it had encountered the "Electric-type nemesis" Zeraora. Did its defeat really need to be explained in detail?

Taking the Poké Ball containing Zapdos, Chris took a look at its stats as well.

[Zapdos (Flying, Electric)] (Legendary Pokémon)

[Level: 91]

[Ability: Static (When an opponent uses a contact move against a Pokémon with this Ability, there is a chance of inflicting paralysis)]

[Individual Values: HP (23), Attack (24), Special Attack (31), Defense (20), Special Defense (27), Speed (31)]

[Moves: Peck, Thunder Wave, Thunder Shock, Detect, Agility, Ancient Power, Charge, Drill Peck, Roost, Discharge, Rain Dance, Magnetic Flux, Detect, Zap Cannon...]

[Held Item: None]

This Zapdos was just as Chris had thought—its potential was lower than both Moltres and Articuno. Its Speed and Special Attack had reached perfect values, making it only a two-perfect-IV Pokémon.

Aside from that, there wasn't much worth noting.

Although individual values couldn't fully determine a Pokémon's complete potential, they did explain part of it.

Chris remembered that when he had taken Zapdos's Treasure, its level had been only eighty-nine.

It had taken nearly two years for it to advance from level eighty-nine to level ninety-one. Meanwhile, Articuno and Moltres had probably been resting for the past two years without improving their levels at all, yet they were still higher level than Zapdos.

The difference between Zapdos and the other Legendary birds could be seen from their levels alone.

However, Chris didn't particularly care about the differences in strength among the Three Legendary Birds.

He had now entered the late game stage. His ordinary Pokémon already possessed the ability to "defeat deities," and he had also captured rare and powerful Legendary Pokémon such as Lugia and Deoxys.

Therefore, there was no real need to invest heavily in training "lesser legendaries" like the Three Legendary Birds.

Chris planned to place them in his facility to serve as mascots and guardians.

Well, his facility would certainly be impressive with them around.

Putting away the Poké Balls containing the Three Legendary Birds, Chris would teleport them to his facility to begin their duties once he returned.

Looking around, he felt like something was missing.

"Wait, where's Lugia?"

Shrine Island was supposed to be the venue for Lugia's grand appearance. The Three Legendary Birds had all been defeated and captured by him, so Lugia—who was supposed to emerge to prevent the birds from "destroying the world"—should have appeared. So where had it gone?

In this world, if there could be two Mewtwo—a dark Mewtwo and a normal Mewtwo—then there should be more than one Lugia as well. It wasn't a unique individual species.

"Gardevoir, use your psychic powers to scan the nearby sea area."

Gardevoir immediately completed its MEGA Evolution and began scanning the nearby waters with its psychic abilities.

A few minutes later, Mega Gardevoir shook its head at Chris.

It had found no trace of Lugia.

"Nothing? Then where did it go? Did it leave to do something else?" Chris stood on Dark Lugia's back, frowning in thought.

Thousands of meters beneath the sea, in pitch-black waters where visibility was virtually zero, a white Lugia wrapped itself in Safeguard and looked upward. Its deep gaze seemed capable of penetrating thousands of meters of seawater.

Silence.

It had been aware of the battle above from the very beginning.

But when it was about to take action to stop the Three Legendary Birds from going berserk again, it witnessed a human sending out three of his own Pokémon to thoroughly defeat all three birds and capture them.

Ah... this was rather awkward.

Should it go up there to help beat up the Three Legendary Birds together?

However, if it appeared on its own initiative, would that human become even more excited and end up defeating it as well?

Lugia pondered for a long time and finally decided not to surface.

It would actually be better if those three troublemakers were defeated and captured by a Trainer. That way, they wouldn't cause problems in the future—constantly quarreling and threatening to destroy the world. Lugia was tired of having to mediate their disputes.

Now that the three hotheads had been captured, it could finally pursue its own purpose as a Lugia.

Well, thanks to that human.

After confirming that the Three Legendary Birds had been captured by the human, Lugia turned its head, gave a gentle push with its thick and powerful flippers, and swam toward the deeper parts of the ocean floor with its massive body.

On the sea surface, at the entrance to Shamouti Island's temple, there were now two people and one Pokémon instead of just one person and one Pokémon.

The middle-aged man, Slowking, and the shrine maiden who had chased them all the way from Hamlin Island were staring at the now-completely-vanished Shrine Islands and Chris's rapidly disappearing figure on the coastline with expressions of utter disbelief.

"The Three Legendary Birds—the God of Lightning, the God of Fire, and the God of Ice—were just captured by a Trainer? What happened to the prophecy of annihilation?" The middle-aged man felt that the worldview he had built since childhood was crumbling.

As someone who had been fortunate enough to encounter the God of Lightning as a child, he had never doubted the power of the Three Legendary Birds or the legend of world destruction.

But now...

Gods... that's it?

What happened to the promised world destruction?

The Three Legendary Birds had been captured—how could they destroy the world now?

Slowking and the shrine maiden exchanged glances. Their hearts were the most shattered of all!

The shrine maiden had received the inheritance from her ancestors since she was a small child, learned the "Song of Lugia," and had always been prepared to awaken Lugia to save the world when destruction came. She had dedicated her entire life to this purpose.

As a result, she was now being told that before the Three Legendary Birds could even begin destroying the world, they had been defeated one-on-one by a human Trainer and captured.

So what was the point of all her efforts over the years?

Just to look pretty when dancing during festivals?

Her entire sense of purpose had shattered!

Slowking looked back at the temple built to honor the Three Legendary Birds and Lugia.

So, was there still any purpose for this temple to exist?

Perhaps they should quickly tear it down and replace it with new deities to worship?

That Trainer's Tyranitar, Greninja, and Zeraora had been quite impressive.

Yes.

Actually, they could change the prophecy tablet as well.

Change it to read: "When the Gods of Lightning, Fire, and Ice fall into rage, a Trainer shall appear, standing upon the back of the Sea God, emerging from the endless night to command the Rock God Tyranitar, the Aura Emperor Greninja, and the True God of Lightning Zeraora to defeat them."
