"Tyran!!!"
The berserk roar was deafening. With a body huge enough and strength powerful enough, even a simple Growl became an attack in its own right.
Within a thousand meters of Mega Tyranitar, sound waves rippled outward like explosive force, stirring up massive waves that surged in all directions.
"Gardevoir, focus on containing the power. Don't let it spread to Shamouti Island," Chris instructed Gardevoir. At the same time, he transmitted information through his aura abilities to the two Pokémon who were fighting and preparing to begin the battle.
High in the sky, an even deeper darkness emerged.
A massive rift leading to another dimension opened, and countless stones rained down from within.
Chris commanded Mega Tyranitar to use Rock Slide—aiming not just at Articuno, but at all three Legendary birds.
After all, they were all Flying-types, which meant they were all weak to Rock-type moves!
"Zhi!" Articuno's sharp, icy eyes quickly locked onto Mega Tyranitar as its opponent.
Compared to Mega Tyranitar—a seemingly powerful opponent who was actually somewhat cumbersome due to its massive size—Articuno had no desire to fight Dark Lugia directly.
"Hurricane!" Articuno flapped its wings and unleashed two twisters that swept toward Mega Tyranitar from both sides. At the same time, it circled around Tyranitar at incredible speed.
"Dragon Claw!" Mega Tyranitar coated both hands with dark green Dragon-type energy and easily tore through the Hurricane.
Its level had been raised to ninety-three by Chris. Combined with the premium food it regularly consumed and intense training, it was certainly capable of battling a deity that ranked among the lower tier of Legendary Pokémon.
"Ice Beam!"
Just as Mega Tyranitar shredded the storm, Articuno fired the attack directly at its face.
The brilliant aurora came wreathed in bone-chilling cold—capable of freezing an entire mountain in an instant.
However, Chris had no intention of defending. As for dodging, that word had vanished from Tyranitar's vocabulary the moment it evolved.
"Lock On!" Chris called out sharply.
Mega Tyranitar took the Ice Beam with its body. Within moments, the surface of its body was covered with a layer of frost, but it paid no attention to it, keeping its eyes locked onto Articuno.
Articuno, who had been moving rapidly while dodging the Rock Slide, suddenly felt a sense of crisis—like needles pricking its skin.
Chris had silently retrieved the Rock Horn and blown into it.
"Woo~"
The sound of an ancient horn echoed through the sky, and a desolate atmosphere swept across the entire Shrine Islands.
Mega Tyranitar grew even more fervent as the power of the earth continuously surged up from where it stood.
Chris raised his hand to reveal his Z-Power Ring, pressed a Rockium Z into the slot, and chanted:
"Roar, the beating of life! Through sky and earth, let the Rock resonate!"
He recited the dramatic lines while striking a dynamic pose. Earthy yellow energy rolled across Chris's body until he clasped his palms together, launching the power like a ninja performing hand seals.
All the tan-colored energy shot toward Mega Tyranitar's body.
"Z-Move: Planetary Devastation!"
"Banji!!!"
Mega Tyranitar roared and swung its arms, shattering the frost covering its body.
The rocks flying throughout the sky suddenly paused mid-flight at the roar. The next second, they shot toward Articuno like rapid raindrops.
Articuno managed to dodge a few of the incoming rocks, but it couldn't escape the rocks coming from every angle around it. It attempted to freeze the rocks with Ice-type moves to disrupt their trajectory, but more rocks kept coming, pushing the frozen rocks forward to continue the assault.
In just a few seconds, Articuno was completely surrounded by rocks and became trapped inside a massive spherical prison.
Moreover, the rock sphere continued to grow larger.
A minute later, a gigantic rock sphere—large enough to destroy an entire city upon impact—floated in the sky.
The already darkened world grew even dimmer.
The rock sphere blocked out the sky, cutting off all light, creating a darkness like the night before the world's end.
Chris stood on Lugia's back in the darkness, gazing at the rock sphere produced by the Planetary Devastation, feeling somewhat moved.
"This is the real Planetary Devastation!"
Previously, Chris had recreated the Planetary Devastation twice—once with Aggron and once with Tyranitar.
Both versions were developed based on the Rock-type Z-Move Continental Crush, attacking opponents with a massive rock.
But Chris felt that couldn't truly be called an Planetary Devastation.
The real Planetary Devastation should be an imprisonment technique—it should seal the opponent inside a rock sphere. Using a rock sphere to attack directly couldn't really be called an "Planetary Devastation."
Therefore, taking advantage of his free time, he had thoroughly developed Tyranitar's capabilities.
It was still based on the Z-Move Continental Crush, but he also incorporated the techniques from Rock Tomb.
Combined with the Lock On move, it created an attack that rapidly condensed rocks around the opponent to trap them.
The concept was perfect, but there were difficulties in the execution process.
For example, Tyranitar didn't have exceptional control over Rock-type energy. Therefore, Chris had to spend considerable money on the market buying numerous rare items that could enhance "Rock-type control" to feed it.
Even so, Chris ultimately had to pair it with the divine-tier item, the Rock Horn.
This finally allowed Mega Tyranitar—after MEGA Evolution and with Dynamax power—to use the Z-Move Planetary Devastation.
Although it still wasn't truly an imprisonment technique in the end, the visual effect was no different from the real Planetary Devastation, and Chris was already quite satisfied.
After all, in Pokémon battles, the goal wasn't to imprison opponents but to defeat them directly. Imprisonment was only necessary for Pokémon that couldn't be defeated, and as of now, Chris hadn't encountered a Pokémon worthy of such treatment.
Chris waited for a while, but Articuno showed no signs of breaking free from the Planetary Devastation. This left him somewhat disappointed. It seemed that Articuno wasn't a strong enough opponent to test the upper limits of the Planetary Devastation's sealing ability.
"Then let's finish this."
Chris casually pointed downward with his hand.
At the same moment, Mega Tyranitar made the same gesture, pointing down.
The enormous rock sphere fell toward the sea like a setting sun.
