On one side were the highly united wild Pokémon with excellent combat synergy, and on the other were the poachers who distrusted each other. The final outcome of this confrontation was a foregone conclusion.
Soon, the lone wolves and small to medium-sized poaching groups that had first charged the isolated cliff began to show signs of collapse, and this trend accelerated as one trainer after another turned and fled.
It was at this moment that the four large-scale poaching groups, who had been holding back until now, finally sprang into action.
"These trash have served their purpose. Let's move out."
"Let's clear out these small fries on the periphery together first, then we can settle things among ourselves inside."
"Stop wasting time, let's do this."
"Hmph, what's the rush? Eager to be reborn?"
The leaders of the four poaching groups seemed to have a prearranged plan. They quickly directed their members to split up and deal with the wild Pokémon surrounding Yanmega, Exploud, Hariyama, and Roserade, while they themselves, along with their Pokémon, took on the four top-tier pseudo-Elite Four wild Pokémon.
The advantage of the large poaching groups lay in their quasi-military training; their discipline and coordination far surpassed that of the lone wolves and smaller groups. Thus, upon their leaders' orders, they began executing their tasks in an orderly manner.
In a short time, the four wild Pokémon leaders were isolated, and each faced a powerful opponent.
The leader of the Black Cloud Poaching Group was a black-haired woman riding a Gogoat. She wore a jester mask and held a special whip that occasionally crackled with electricity. Her target was the mountainous wild Exploud.
Exploud was Level 64. Apart from being skilled in sound-based attacks, it excelled in close combat, mastering moves like the Elemental Punches, Elemental Fangs, and Iron Tail, and even knew Zen Headbutt, a move super-effective against Fighting-types.
Many poachers had sent their Pokémon to swarm it earlier, but most were instantly defeated by the Explouds waves emitted from its pores before they could even get close. Those that managed to close in were defeated by its super-effective Elemental Punches.
The black-haired woman clearly had experience dealing with Exploud. She directly sent out a Level 56 Voltorb with the Soundproof ability. Thanks to this ability, Voltorb was completely immune to Exploud's most powerful sound-based attacks.
Meanwhile, using its speed and physical advantages, Voltorb continuously kited Exploud with various low-power, quick Electric-type moves.
Faced with a Pokémon that hard-countered him so effectively, Exploud was somewhat helpless. With his underlings tied up by other Black Cloud members and unable to receive support, he was largely reduced to a punching bag, constantly pelted by Voltorb's hit-and-run attacks.
Finally, although Exploud seized an opportunity to heavily injure Voltorb with a surprise Iron Tail, under the black-haired woman's cold command, Voltorb still used a kamikaze Self-Destruct to take Exploud down with it.
Once Exploud fell, the nearby wild Pokémon lost their backbone and were quickly defeated and captured one by one by the Black Cloud poaching group members.
Meanwhile, the Gale, Crag, and Malevolent Ghost Poaching groups weren't far behind. The leaders of these three large groups were equally formidable and soon defeated the remaining three wild Pokémon leaders with their own methods.
The leader of the Gale Poaching Group was a blond man with a hooked nose. His target was Yanmega. Coincidentally, the Pokémon he sent out was also a Yanmega.
However, the Hooked-Nose man's Yanmega was two levels higher than the wild one, and its movepool was far superior.
Theoretically, with similar potential, the Hooked-Nose man's Yanmega, guided by its Trainer, should have quickly defeated its fierce wild counterpart.
But that wasn't the case. Although the wild Yanmega was inferior in level and move variety, its ferocity outstripped the Hooked-Nose man's Yanmega by a significant margin.
The two Yanmega, both with the Speed Boost ability, engaged in a battle of blurs, moving so fast that ordinary eyes could barely track them. Because of this, the Hooked-Nose man could hardly intervene.
The blitz battle didn't last long—about a minute—before the result was decided. Surprisingly, the Hooked-Nose man's Yanmega was actually defeated by the wild one.
Of course, the wild Yanmega was also at its limit by then, and the Hooked-Nose man quickly defeated it using his other Pokémon.
The leader of the Crag Poaching group was a burly man whose physique rivaled Hariyama's. His target was none other than Hariyama, and the Pokémon he used against it was a Level 63 Hitmonchan.
Hariyama's advantage lay in its immense strength and, combined with its Thick Fat, considerable defensive prowess. Its weakness was its lack of agility.
Although Hitmonchan couldn't match Hariyama in raw power, its agility far surpassed Hariyama's—three Hariyama wouldn't be enough.
Thus, the battle between Hitmonchan and Hariyama was like a match between a boxer and a sumo wrestler; either side had a significant chance of victory.
But that would be the case without Trainer intervention. This Hitmonchan, meticulously trained by the burly man, not only mastered a special agile footwork but also possessed extremely high fighting skill, far beyond that of the wild Hariyama.
Therefore, under the burly man's direction, the Iron Fist ability Hitmonchan almost completely suppressed Hariyama.
Although Hariyama kept trying to fight back fiercely, and even found an opportunity to use the potential turnaround move, Reversal, in a last-ditch effort, that chance was ultimately snuffed out by Hitmonchan's lightning-fast Bullet Punch.
The leader of the Malevolent Ghost Poaching Group was a sickly-looking old man. His target was Roserade, and the Pokémon he used was a Gengar.
Although the old man appeared frail, his methods were insidious and vicious. He fully utilized Gengar's spectral characteristics, allowing Gengar to successfully ambush and heavily injure Roserade with ease.
However, compared to the other three wild leaders, Roserade, being a healer, was clearly held in higher esteem by the other wild Pokémon. When she was ambushed by Gengar, nearby wild Pokémon rushed to her aid without regard for their own safety.
In the end, with the help of a Ninjask, Roserade managed to escape the battlefield.
But shortly after Roserade retreated, she was quickly intercepted by a Trainer accompanied by a Crobat.
"Roserade, I need your strength. Become my companion."
Sato looked at the Pokémon glaring at him with intense hostility and communicated to her via telepathy.
Unfortunately, although Sato came with good intentions, the response he received was a vine whip studded with sharp thorns.
A battle was imminent.
