This cry of pain was proof that the Altaria had successfully laid an Egg. Instantly, the situation erupted. A large number of trainers seeking to seize the Egg emerged from their hiding places and swiftly charged towards the isolated cliff.
The isolated cliff was now surrounded by a large number of wild Pokémon, forming an iron fortress. These wild Pokémon, fiercely loyal to the Altaria, roared with rage to protect their 'Queen' and future prince, then fearlessly attacked the greedy humans before them.
Among these loyal followers of the Altaria, a Yanmega, an Exploud, a Hariyama, and a Roserade, all over level 60, were the most powerful.
Among them, the Exploud, a Pokémon capable of using sonic attacks, was undoubtedly one of the most destructive. Using its high-power, STAB move Hyper Voice with 140 power, it single-handedly held back about 40% of the enemies on the front line.
Waves of invisible sonic force released from its massive mouth rushed towards the numerous poachers and their Pokémon. In an instant, these poachers and Pokémon clutched their ears in pain.
The Yanmega and Hariyama were equally fierce. One was like a phantom assassin, while the other was a powerful artillery piece.
Thanks to its Speed Boost ability, the Yanmega dominated the battlefield. Each time it paused, it nearly always meant the end of an enemy's life. With its terrifying speed, its sharp fangs and claws could slice through enemies in an instant.
The Yanmega particularly enjoyed hunting trainers, whose self-defense capabilities were far inferior to Pokémon. Since the battle began, it had killed over 20 trainers, earning it the title 'Grim Reaper of Trainers' on the battlefield.
The Hariyama continuously lifted massive boulders created by nearby Rock-type Pokémon and effortlessly hurled them using the move Rock Throw. Its throwing skill was exceptional, and its control over strength was incredibly precise.
The boulders it threw were fast and fierce, shattering mid-air into a rain of rocks that fell upon the vulnerable rear lines of the enemy.
Because of the Yanmega and Hariyama, many poachers were hesitant, afraid of being attacked by these two fearsome Pokémon and ending up dead like their unfortunate comrades.
As for the Roserade, she was the healer in the rear of the wild Pokémon ranks. She used Grassy Terrain with masterful skill, almost able to activate it anywhere within a hundred-meter radius through sheer willpower.
It was precisely because of Roserade's presence that many wild Pokémon who had been severely injured and fallen on the battlefield quickly recovered their fighting strength and rejoined the battle.
However, it would be a grave mistake to think Roserade was just a healer. Her lethality was no less than the other three high-level wild Pokémon.
Whenever she plunged her flower-like arms into the ground, numerous thorny whips would emerge from the earth across the battlefield, binding large numbers of enemies.
Subsequently, Roserade would use Giga Drain to siphon energy from the enemies, rapidly replenishing her own stamina. Targets hit by her Giga Drain quickly became dehydrated.
These four powerful wild Pokémon stood like towering pillars, firmly guarding the isolated cliff. Here, they were the local commanders, directing the other wild Pokémon to stubbornly hold back the poachers' advance.
However, the number of poachers vying for the Egg was simply too large, and each possessed numerous powerful Pokémon. The wild Pokémon guarding the cliff were simply outnumbered.
Fortunately, these poachers were not united. The various factions were constantly scheming against each other.
Coupled with the vicious infighting from the previous night, these poachers couldn't possibly unite. They were more wary of their fellow humans than the wild Pokémon.
"Just a motley crew."
Sato stood on the crown of the tallest tree closest to the isolated cliff. Watching the poachers below fighting individually and being pushed back step-by-step by the fearless wild Pokémon, he thought with disdain.
Then, he shifted his gaze to the edges of the battlefield.
In fact, those currently rushing to engage the wild Pokémon were merely lone wolves and small poaching groups. The large poaching Groups had, from the beginning, chosen not to act immediately.
This was the tragedy of the lone wolves and small to medium-sized poaching groups. Because their strength was too limited and they lacked unity, if they didn't fight now, once the large Groups started moving, they might not even get a sip of the soup.
In reality, most lone wolves and small-to-medium poaching groups understood clearly that the Altaria's Egg and the Altaria itself were basically out of their reach. If they wanted any spoils, these wild Pokémon in front of them were their main target.
While the value of these wild Pokémon was far less than the Altaria's Egg or the Altaria itself, they could still fetch a decent price on the black market. For them, this still counted as a relatively substantial gain.
But from the looks of it now, this 'soup' was scalding hot; one misstep could burn their tongues and throats.
The large poaching Groups were holding back for simple reasons: on one hand, they wanted to use this opportunity to weaken the lone wolves and small groups, reducing unpredictable elements. On the other hand, they were wary of each other.
Four major poaching groups had come for this contest: the Black Cloud Poaching Group, the Gale Poaching Group, the Crag Poaching Group, and the Malevolent Ghost Poaching Group.
Each of these four large groups had invested over fifty members into this struggle for the Egg, all of them top-notch operatives equipped with various high-tech weapons.
Although these major groups had suffered significant losses before the struggle began due to targeted attacks by other lone wolves and small-to-medium groups, their numerical advantage still allowed them to easily overpower the others.
Some lone wolves and small-to-medium groups, ambitious to seize the Egg and the Altaria, seeing they couldn't break through the barrier formed by the four powerful wild Pokémon and their allies, quickly began resorting to underhanded tricks.
They actually tried to bypass the barrier using Flying-type Pokémon to reach the cave on the isolated cliff face from the air. However, their cunning plans were doomed to fail.
On the cliff face, Geodude, Graveler, and Golem disguised as rocks quickly awakened. Using moves like Rock Slide, Rock Tomb, and Stone Edge, they knocked all enemies attempting to approach the cave from the air down into the bottomless abyss below.
"This Altaria has really managed its nest impressively. The resistance outside is already this strong; there's probably even greater danger hidden inside. No, I need to wait and observe further. At the very least, I should wait until those large poaching Groups make their move."
Watching the failed attempts of the poachers and small groups who tried their cunning plans, Sato's expression changed slightly. He quickly dismissed his earlier thought of using Teleport to sneak into the cave unnoticed.
