Eleanor's words echoed in the darkness, and for a moment, Jocelynn's heart felt like it stopped beating in her chest. Was it really possible? Could she truly leave this trial without becoming the Olive Witch and just leave the seed, or the tree it had grown, behind?
"Impossible," the Olive Seed said, ruthlessly crushing Jocelynn's budding hopes before they could blossom. "You said it yourself, Cousin Eleanor," the wooden woman said, looking at Eleanor and Ashlynn with the cold, merciless eyes of the Void.
"You can retrace your steps, but you cannot change them," the seed quoted. "Jocelynn made her choice: pass the trial and become the Olive Witch or fail and live out the remainder of her days as an Olive Tree in the Enchanted Grove of the Mother of Trees."
