Carrying her effortlessly, Urag walked back toward the heavy mahogany desk and settled into his high-backed leather chair, pulling her right down onto his lap so she was nestled securely against his chest.
Eiravyne shifted nervously against him, her eyes finally taking in the sprawling chaos of the room.
A wave of self-consciousness flushed her cheeks.
"Bad time..." she murmured, her shoulders stiffening as she tried to slide off his lap. "I... I should go back."
Before she could even lift an inch, Urag's massive hand clamped firmly around her waist, stopping her movement entirely and pressing her back down against him with immovable, gentle strength.
"Don't even think about it," Urag rumbled as he tucked a stray lock of dark hair behind her ear.
He didn't let her pull away.
